I agree about not being light green but I doubt it to be the same as the hull colour. looking at temporary colour charts it seems that green in different shades was popular so I might go with that.

I never liked Dragons tracks. I didn't like the old black "rubber" tracks and I liked the DS-tracks even less. The DS-tracks snapped directly I added glue to them No matter super glue or plastic glue. On a big tank with large tracks like a Tiger or a Panther the track links sag between the sprocket wheels. Link and length tracks are mostly frustrating to build but I prefer them to vinyl tracks. I have started on a Lancia. This is the only one in 1/72 from CSM. It is a great kit and makes you hope that they will make more in this scale.

The main parts are now in place so it is time to start with details. I tried to build a frame for the protective mesh of the radiator. I will use the mesh from a tea bag. The Fordson had a larger radiator so I had to enlarge the doors in front of it. If I manage to build the mesh screen I want these doors open so I tried to detail the insides of them. All the time I have been building it I never got the feeling that it is a Fordson. Something in the look of it didn't match the pictures in my head. Today I finally could see a Fordson on the table.

The funny thing is when I was a kid everything went together without problems. I have later built the same kit again (not reruns) and part doesn't fit. Either I was a better builder as a kid or one didn't care back then. The overuse of tube glue fixed most problems. 😁

I had a conversation with Kassia St Clair who wrote the book about the colour. She told me that she contacted the museum in Turin. They told her that they also heard the roumur that it was originally red so they tested the paint all the way down to the metalwork. What they discovered was that the paint was grey all the way down. So I don't believe the talk of it being repainted after a dip an the harbour. As Barzini wrote it was grey . Looking at the photos it sure look like the text was painted in white but repainted in black somewhere along the race.

I haven't read “The Race to the Future” but the book of Barzini who was on the trip and wrote a book where he mention it to be grey several times, and the pictures in the book indicate that the plank fenders was removed early. Another thing is that the text Peeking Paris wasn't added to the car until Irkutsk where a sign painter added it in large white letters so there are options in how to build it. I am building boxes for my car. Also work on the spare wheels have been done. On pictures I've seen that they often carried a bowl of some kind in the spare wheel so I drilled out holes in the wheel that might perhaps be a little visible behind the bowl. The other wheel that will be visible got the rim from Airfix

Be careful using the Entex kit as a source of information. I have the Union Model issue of it and trying to rebuild it as the race car. But there is much that is wrong with it. Firstly it is to long. It was initially a kit with an electric engine and batteries were in the fuel tanks which had to be long enough for the batteries to fit in them. But not only are the fuel tanks to long. They are in the wrong shape as well. The kit has a sofa while the real car had two separate seats. One very important information: The car was grey, not red or crimson. That would be OKB Grigorov. The tracks are 1/72 scale. I have bough some but haven't used them yet, but the do look nice.

It doesn't look like a Fordson armoured car to me but I like the look of it in this stage. I had to temporary mount the wheels to be able to get the fenders in place. I still can't see a Fordson. In pictures of the real car it look very long but I don't get that feeling with the model, but it is longer than the Rolls Royce.

I've been working on the cargo bed with the "coffin". But I was sloppy measuring so now I need to add some plastic to the rear of the bed, but it will be a tiny problem.

IBG get lots of critics for their truck at the Missing Links Braille Scale Group. Lot of faults and wrong shapes apparently. Well the minor length difference doesn't bother me but the 917t kit has the wrong front axle for the build. It had a single transverse leaf spring like an old Ford Model T, while the Fordson had longitudinal leaf spring front suspension like the chassis in the V3000S kit.

It all started with me building three of the Roden Rolls Royce armoured cars: https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235079254-rolls-royce-armoured-car-1914/ When the Rolls Royce chassis of the armoured cars finally was worn out, the armoured bodies were moved to Fordson truck chassis. As I already had built three different variants of the Rolls Royce I also wanted a Fordson. I ordered a Roden Rolls Royce for my project. Then I needed a Ford chassis. In my local hobby store there was a 917t Maultier and a look at the instructions showed that it had the parts to build the wheel version so I bought it. But as I later found out, it was the wrong chassis. I had to order a V3000s to get the right one. Luckily it also has all parts included for the 917t so I can still build that this if I find an engine of some sort. I started to put the chassis and the armoured body together. As the Roden kit didn't have a complete engine I had to open up the floor to get the Ford engine in. Time has come to start planning for the "cargo bed". The wheels was something that I thought would be a problem. But I think that I found a solution. Airfix messed up with their CCKW 353 truck and made the wheels with five holes instead of six. I had a bunch of those faulty front wheels that I would use now. I cut the tires off from them and sanded down the rims to make them thinner. Then I removed the rims of the Roden wheels and will fit the Airfix rims in those tires. It will probably not be 100 % right but it will be close enough for me.
