    Just my tuppence worth but I would be surprised if Airfix haven't thought about the P8. I know they want to stay away from having to pay licence fees etc and Welsh Models have just released theirs but the aircraft ticks so many boxes that have been mentioned as prerequisites for a new Airfix kit;

    • The P8 would sell well in the UK and offers a route into the North American market (as well as Norway, India etc)
    • As with the Valiant add-ons they could do a 'special' weapons bay set for incremental sales
    • If engineered correctly elements of the mouldings could be re-used for an E-7 Wedgetail version that could also open up the Aussie and Turkish market
    • Unlikely but they could do as Heller did with the old 707 and E-3 series and offer a pax 737NG

Obviously this would be a massive step for Hornby and a tenuous business case so it probably won't happen and we will have a new Spitfire. Not long to go now!

I would love a P-8 and it would fill a big void in modern military surveillance aircraft.

But would aircraft be able to get anywhere near one to scan it?

  2. We now know it is a BIG announcement which tell me we are going to have a large aircraft. Be it either in 1/24 1/48 or 1/72. so we are either looking at a small scale large aircraft or a large scale small aircraft

Airfix have for the past 6-7 years released what I would call a flagship release for the year.

    2019 we had the Hellcat

2018 The Hunter/Blenhiem couldn't confirm the flagship issue for that year

    2017 The Phantom

    2016 The Victor

    2015 The Shackleton

    2014 The Typhoon

    2013 The Javelin

    2012 The Valiant

2020 is going to see another flagship release to bring some huge income to Airfix/Hornby so you really have to think now, what kit will bring in a huge income in a short period of time with impulse purchases off the scale of a standard release, I think there is no coincidence they have pulled the old scale Avro Vulcan off the shelves now and I think 2020 will be the year of the Vulcan. It will be a big bucks £50-60 kit

I’ve just received the Italeri re box of this. I see the canopy cannot be posed open, so I won’t bother with photo etch. It has some brilliant Croatian decals. Chequered tail and the markings in a monochrome scheme.

I've seen the recent re boxing my italeri with a few decal options. looks good, but it is basic by today's standard

Can anyone help please? Unless I dreamt the hour I took posting it my "Nocoolname’s Kit Clearout! Sept-Oct 19" post appears to have disappeared from the site over the past hour or so. Nothing in the Wanted section or the general areas. Can anyone advise please? I have the logs to show the I uploaded to this site.

    Rgds!

Nocool, I've been unfortunately myself to fall foul of this rule myself. I have a sieve for a memory and fell foul twice in the space of few weeks.

Just check check and double get the forums to make sure you haven't got a historic post up, in my case one of the posts was 8 months old.

  5. I'm not a big fan of kitty hawk, but their choice of subjects recently is getting better and better,

They are doing so much research in to plugging gaps in the market they get profit from. The Su-25, getting up to date Hind's and Hip's out. The havoc's etc

This is extremely promising and while I do question their quality at times, this is the type of move to bring me back as a customer

  6. Hi everyone, now I've sorted out my photo sharing issues I'm pleased to share my build from earlier this year.

This is the Trumpeter Su-24M Fencer D in 1/72 scale. Truly a great kit and one of Trumpeters best 1/72 kits.

Kit is painted in Tamiya X-2 semi gloss white for the undersides, a 60/40 mix of GSI 308 and 317, Matt white used on radom. Master pitot tube and eduard etched for the interior and undercarriage doors.

The was a personal build which found itself in a magazine so needed to keep the photos until the review had been published for a while.

I'm still learning to take photos and what backgrounds work best so apologies if photos are a little poor
