Hi guys, no Wip for this one, was a quick build over last 3 weeks. Had quite a few disasters with this one, Varnishes not airbrushing for unknown reasons, Decals were quite bad, with some breaking which required replacing. And carpet monster ate the pitot tube. Plus I don't think I got the camo 100% right. But I'm happy with the result, I'm a novice, no pro to say the least. Hope you like the results. Pictures were taken using my Iphone so they are not the best

That's a fair point Rick Kits I've recently finished were in the warmer months, and it is a lot colder now,

Hi guys Novice modeller here looking for a few tips. I'm having some issues with my gloss and matt cotes for my builds. I have 2 brands at the moment, the humbrol clear and xtracrylix (hannants brand), my first few builds seemed ok with using the xtracrylix but for seem reason now, i'm having issues with spraying it, I thin it with water as stated and still have issues so I kept thinning bit by bit until It can be sprayed, but now it seems too watery. never had these issues on my 3 builds before. On the other hand, humbrol clear sprays well, but takes about 5 times as long to dry, plus I've heard some bad things about it. I know some peeps use the old johnsons klear, but that's oop and too expensive for my blood on ebay. can anyone give me some tips, for recommend a good product that I can just spray without thinning, gloss and matt products. I use Tamiya acrylic paints,

Supermarine spitfire mk1a
thepureness replied to Pawel Szczudlyk's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Hi SDK_UK That's a nice spitfire you have there, camo looks great, as does the weathering underneath. Does look a little shinny in the photos, do you have a matt varnish on the kit, or just a gloss coat? -
1/48 JU-88A-4 (Dragon kit) 'Comanche'
thepureness replied to andy.m's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
that's an odd looking JU88, looks great, nice work -
That's a stunner, I also like the aircraft painted that way, and not the squiggly lines on top which I have seen on the revell version of that aircraft. The ZM kit does look a stunner

i'ld be happy to have built that Nice work -
building this myself at the moment. From my understanding and test fitting there seems to be a fit issue regarding the rear canopy, keep an eye out for that. But looking great at the moment

Revell 1/48 PV-1 Ventura, first build on BM
thepureness replied to thepureness's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
Quite some progress today, fuselage sealed windows in place, it is also a lot bigger than I expected. Seams to be hidden and some mr surfacer 500 in some spots. The wing fit is extremely good, and very tempted to paint & decal the fuselage and wings separately -

thepureness replied to thepureness's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
cheers Alan I also did notice this in reading a build in SAM from sep 2012 issue, one of the references I'm using. Just going to track down a some yellow coding in the same scale and replace that decal. -

Cockpit is coming along nicely Eduard set does stand out big time -
I'ld recommend tracking down one of the AM kits, either the recently academy boxing or one of the discontinued kits on ebay or a 2nd hand dealer. Its a far superior kit

That is Legendary And now I want one

I think with the next kit it would have to cover 3 points really. 1. Plug a gap in the market, recently 1/48 new tools by Airfix have been new tools of aircraft yet to be released by a mainstream manufacturer. Look at the Lynx, Merlin, Canberra, sea vixen, Javelin for example, yes the Canberra was issued by classic airframes but that was a limited run kit. 2. Has to actually be worth selling, There are some kits out there that there is a gap for, but really do not see selling due to demand. 1/48 scale Vulcan, yes would be nice, at a guess that would be around 70cm in length and 70cm in span, might be too big for a lot of models, Scimitar too specialist I think and would only certain models. 3. Retail price. How much would that Vulcan cost, £80 plus I would guess. anything around the £30 to £50 mark I think would be where they need to aim. So with these idea in mind, comes the kits to think about Bristol Blenheim, only tooled once before by classic airframes, 2nd hand kits going for well over £80 on ebay, seem one recently at £106, Size would be similar to a mozzie or Beaufighter. Reasonably I could see this around £35 and there would be a decent demand. Gannet, This is the same as the Blenheim, tooled by classic airframes as a limited run kit, very rare these days and could see retailing for about £40 BP Defiant could be interesting, yet again a limit run of this was done before. A hunter would be interesting at there is only the academy option in this scale which does have its issues, a new one would be great and price wise a £40 kit seems right Buccaneer, would love a new tooled buccaneer in 1/48, there was a some pictures circling awhile ago with rumour if was a trumpy kit, but would love a desert storm bucc. around £50, would still part with my cash A Vampire would be a good option, released limited run before plus the hobbycraft and terrible trumpeter kits, Airfix could do it justice. Puma would be the best option in helicopters I do not think a Beaufighter would be worthwhile, we have the Tamiya kits, they are still good, but my thoughts are above Well, these are my thoughts

Amazing build so far, Thinking its time to build this legend of a kit myself, its looking so good

Tamiya 1/48 Beaufighter TF.Mk.X
thepureness replied to thepureness's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
This kit is now an award winner -
So, I'm sure many of you, myself included may have been reading the page on the issues of SAM about the 100 kits to build before you die, and we have the thoughts of the chaps that write that magazine listing out what kits they believe should be in that top 100. But couple of things i'm curious with, what do you all think will be number 1 and also what kits you think should be in that list, interested to see what other fellow builders thoughts are on the best kits ever made are. My top 5 would possible be. 1. Revell/monogram 1/48 Catalina 2. Tamiya 1/48 Beaufighter 3. accurate miniatures 1/48 avenger 4. Trumpeter 1/32 Dauntless 5. Trumpeter 1/35 mi 24 hind Mind you, some of these were build a few years ago, and I still goto sink my teeth into a lot of kits

looks like the trumpeter kit scaled up, from what I can see Will be a good watch this

Hi Paul I've been advised to have a chat with yourself regarding custom made Decals. I'm looking for Decals for a certain Aircraft, A Junkers Ju-88 A-4 an image is below I can provide a set of decals in 1/72 scale, as revell produced a set for this aircraft in a smaller scale, if your able to increase it to the correct scale I'm looking for. I'm partically looking for Decals for the tail art, and insignia on the nose, plus the coding, the standard german markings I can most likely source, but if your able to provide the whole lot, then more than happy either way. Regards Jon
