  1. This is where I'm really open minded with this, I knew the Dutch and Finnish used the aircraft as a troopship, so a US or other European country would be idea.
  2. Awesome video there Radleigh, was a good watch, especially seeing it fly. On another note, got a little more done today, finish construction of the tail and have attached some of the flaps with a few more going on soon, I have to have the main air frame completed by tomorrow night along with the undercarriage and props. One thing that has surprised me is the size of the aircraft, as I thought I was working with something much smaller, its not far off a 1/48 spitfire or WWII fighter One thing I've always struggled with in modelling is choosing what to build next, I've got such a big collection that I will just look through boxes sometimes and take ages to pick a kit, This is my first group build and with limiting the subjects down to certain types it limited my choice and I was able to decided what to build straight away, and i'm seriously enjoying it. here is a couple more pics
  3. Hi everyone. I recently purchased an old ESCI f-27 Fokker friendship in 1/72 scale. Unfortunately to decals are too old to be used and since aftermarket are all civil but no military versions around since I'm waiting to build a military version I thought about a what if. So I'm looking for some ideas really, My personal thought was that since the Dutch used the aircraft for maritime recon I thought that the RAF could have taken a handful of aircraft to due to delays switching from the Avro Shackleton to the Nimrod and used as a stop gab for a few years. Was thinking to paint the aircraft overall medium sea grey, or gloss white over medium sea grey (Shackleton colours). But of course I'm looking for ideas if anyone else has any.
  4. Yes driver, there is currently a restoration project on a Gannet t.5 in the US. Revel also provided decals in box to build the extra aircraft. Although I'm building a Culdrose aircraft
  5. OK, with replacement parts on their way from Germany I can at least get one with the rest of the build and all the clear parts once they arrive. So fair good ammount of the main fuselage built and painted. Used Tamiya acrylics for paint, XF-16 Flat aluminum and a Mix for the Red of XF-7 Red and a dash of XF03 yellow mixed with a little gloss. This is where we are
  6. That's a nice result. I'm fairly new to airbrushing and only have 4 kits airbrushed since I gave up hairy sticks, and if I ever get these results i'ld be made for life keep up the good work
  7. Sea hornet & Whirlwind for trumpeter are 100% purchased already Ka-27 Helix, been wanting one of these for a while, as I think the 1/72 is a little too small for my collection on the edge with the SA365N in 1/35, will pass judgement when I see the price. Dragonfly will be interesting to see
  8. stunning and this will be on my to buy list once released. curious of what the retail price might be
  9. Very sad to read this, 4 Airmen losing their lives. One can only assume what the causes were, with some odd weather patterns over pass few days wonder if that had anything to do with it.
  10. Cheers Chris Email sent so hopefully a reply soon
  11. So interesting one here chaps, maybe some advise. Maybe a slight disaster here, took the clear parts out the bag and noticed something wasn't right. The bulged canopy for the pilot is actually cracked straight down the middle. It was only being held together by the clear sprue, so once removed I ended up with 2 parts. No question is, whats the best course of action to repair it. I've used some clear glue to bond the 2 halves together, its a very clean crake so just have the seem to deal with which stands out like a sore thumb.
  12. Few photos to update, i'm happy with the look of the pit, colours maybe not 100% correct plus I used the kit decals for cockpit details. This is the first revell kit i've built for around 5-6 years now, and i'm surprised being that its a new tooling is the amount of flash on some parts, but then again. its a decent sized kit for £11 plus a good part count, so I shouldn't really complain.
  13. HI Daniel Fantastic and thanks very much, exactly what I needed, I've used xtracrylix paints in the past and to have a conversion there is perfect. Thanks for all that info, so much to go on.
  14. Hi guys, looking for some advise regarding painting the amazing swordfish. Colour calls out for the AS colours which I'm trying to convert to Tamiya XF versions. But it does not seem right at all. At this stage I've so far got the XF81 RAF dark green and XF82 RAF Ocean grey, for the camo, but something doesn't seem quite right. might just be me, but any advise guys would be great.
  15. Hi guys This is my build for the training type group build. Playing it safe with the Revell Gannet T.5 I live a short distance from Culdrose naval base and being there is an option provided with the kit for an aircraft based there, there was not too much decision making to be done. I'm going to build this one OOB with no AM parts just to see what results I get. Wish me luck
  16. Cheers Snapper. Got a few option as I may do 2-3 of these kits for kit GB Revell 1/72 MH-53J Pave Low, cost £9.06 Zvezda 1/72 SU-24 Fencer cost £8.77 Academy 1/72 Apache £6 Airfix Sea Harrier FA.2 £8.66
  17. Just want to ask a question to the mods about the rules. I've recently picked up some cheap kits on ebay, cheaper than £10 of course but also a cut below their RRP. £18 kit for £9 including p&p for example Am I permitted to build these provided they cost less than £10 (including postage)
  18. apart from airfix's new releases this is the first kit to get my attention for 2014, this will be added to my collection, regardless of accuracy, if it looks like one, it is one, and that box art is awesome
  19. I do have to agree what a disappointing list. Tornado and spitfire only kits that interest me remotely and they are last years new kits. Hopefully then it a wait for the toy fair in February hopefully something new might be announced then.
  20. You my good sir are nothing short of a model making God. That is a legendary build, and if I was to ever get even get 10% as good as this I will be happy for life.
  21. Hi peeps. Hopefully I might find someone with some good german aircraft knowledge. But i'm trying to find the Differences between the BF 109 G-6 & G-14. From what I can understand is the basic air frame is the same, with the higher tail. Anyone able to pass on some knowledge?
