  1. I saw a comic strip on facebook before Christmas that told the story this of kit so far.

It was a boy sitting on Santa's lap and Santa asked what he would like for Christmas and the young boy said "World Peace"

Santa replied that as much as he would like world peace it would be very hard and asked the young boy for a more realistic gift. The boy replied "I would love the new AMK F-14D Tomcat", to which Santa replied, "Ok let us look at sorting out world peace"

But in honesty, I'm sure this is going to be worth the wait, but I do have a really good Hobby Boss F-14D in the stash, and to be honest, it looks a cracking kit too.

  2. So I've made a good start on getting the main aircraft built over the last week, Cockpit painted, etched added and main fuselage assembled.

What I am doing now is adding smaller parts that can be painted when attached to the fuselage and leaving things like airbrakes, undercarriage and pylons off until towards the end.

In general, the fit is really good in most places, there is a little filler around the intakes and tail but this is more to tidy the areas and hide any small gaps.

  3. I'm in that zone where I have no idea and can not think of anything to expect.

Flagship release for 2019 has been announced which is not a bad idea and I can see the Hellcat selling,

Vulcan and buccaneer would have been Telford still announcements.

So I'm expecting something good, but not outside of the box.

Hurricane MKII in 1/48 would be nice, we need a new one of those

    Lysander in 1/72 scale

Too early for a Blenheim IVF in 1/48 I think that will be 2020

  4. Such an amazing job there.

The Shackleton is a big part of me as well, I would not be alive if it wasn't for this aircraft.

My grandfather was offered the chance to work on the Shackleton during his RAF career, so he relocated his family from Yorkshire to Cornwall to work with aircraft when they first went to Cornwall in RAF St Eval.

His daughter, my mother came down too, met a Cornishman and here I am. He would have stayed in Yorkshire otherwise and my parents would not have crossed paths.

His Stories fueled my passion for the aircraft and aircraft in general, and you can see by my profile image too.

I've built 4 shacks, two Airfix Shacks, the Revell kit and the old frog kit. Revell kit was my favourite of the two and it was a joy to build.

You've done an amazing job to capture the image of those 10,000 rivets flying in close formation

Big thumbs up from me 👍

    Just got my kit today.

    My initial thoughts:

Nice one piece missiles, carefully packaged to preserve the fins.

Decals look a little large - at least compared the the Amodel Tu-128 decal set, as do the ejection seats, which look considerably larger/more lounge-like than the 1/72 Neomega KT1 seats [not 100% sure that they should be the same though?]

No missile rails provided, and looking again at the Amodel missile rails, and their rather industrial moulding quality, perhaps these will need to be scratch built.

Wheels are clearly [unsurprisingly] missing a fair amount of detail also.

Otherwise the mouldings all look nice and clean etc...and as someone above has said, it sure looks like a Fiddler :)

Happy with the kit, just wish it was a bit less pricey esp when compared the considerably more complex Trumpy TU-22M2/3 kits, which here in NZ, are not that much more expensive than the Fiddler, at least via one of our main online outlets.

    Aaron

Shows the difference in prices in the UK compared.

The TU-22 here is double the price than the Tu-128

Based on recent kits from ICM I think it will be worth the wait. Their quality has come on rapidly and they've tended to be pretty accurate as well.

    That's it there sleeper

The quality of ICM kits has improved so much that their kits are being re boxed by so many other brands.

Their ju-88 has been reboxed by Revell, Special Hobby and even Hasegawa.

I've built two of their Ju-88 kits in 1/48 scale and they were a joy to build, I've got their mig-25(revell boxing) and their he-111 and they look amazing in the box.

I think by fare they are the most improved brand in the hobby at the moment and I would rate their new kits higher than brands like Revell, Airfix and Hasegawa with only the new Tamiya stuff better.

    Ha, ha that's good.

You always can buy MRP paints - they have ready colours. But I am using Tamiya and not willing to buy paints just for this model. They maybe not ideal, but in my opinion doing the job.

The issue with that is MRP is lacquer based and I'm spraying indoors

And more colours to choose. Maybe someone think one of those is better so please let me know.

Those colours on the circular disk, are those the final choice you went with.

I'm thinking of building this soon, as it is in the stash at the moment
