1/72 Revell Shackleton AEW2 Christmas build
thepureness replied to Dermo245's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Such an amazing job there. The Shackleton is a big part of me as well, I would not be alive if it wasn't for this aircraft. My grandfather was offered the chance to work on the Shackleton during his RAF career, so he relocated his family from Yorkshire to Cornwall to work with aircraft when they first went to Cornwall in RAF St Eval. His daughter, my mother came down too, met a Cornishman and here I am. He would have stayed in Yorkshire otherwise and my parents would not have crossed paths. His Stories fueled my passion for the aircraft and aircraft in general, and you can see by my profile image too. I've built 4 shacks, two Airfix Shacks, the Revell kit and the old frog kit. Revell kit was my favourite of the two and it was a joy to build. You've done an amazing job to capture the image of those 10,000 rivets flying in close formation Big thumbs up from me- 29 replies

Your not the only one who thinks Kitty hawk are bad. But that is a silk purse from a pigs ear :) -
Shows the difference in prices in the UK compared. The TU-22 here is double the price than the Tu-128

That's it there sleeper The quality of ICM kits has improved so much that their kits are being re boxed by so many other brands. Their ju-88 has been reboxed by Revell, Special Hobby and even Hasegawa. I've built two of their Ju-88 kits in 1/48 scale and they were a joy to build, I've got their mig-25(revell boxing) and their he-111 and they look amazing in the box. I think by fare they are the most improved brand in the hobby at the moment and I would rate their new kits higher than brands like Revell, Airfix and Hasegawa with only the new Tamiya stuff better.

It was, but same with the He 111, the monogram kit was good, but ICMs kit is light years ahead. I hope this is as good as other ICM new kits

got this kit in the stash. It is close to the top for 2019 builds

I don't think that is possible looking at the instructions

The only thing preventing me buying it is space. I just don't know where I would put it when built

The issue with that is MRP is lacquer based and I'm spraying indoors

Kris that's not paint mixing, that's witchcraft. You need a cauldron to mix all that in. But thanks for the mixes

Those colours on the circular disk, are those the final choice you went with. I'm thinking of building this soon, as it is in the stash at the moment

The grey marking aircraft guys. Is that the standard eggplant grey used on aircraft like the SU-34, Su-35 and Su-25? -

Can i ask why you didn't use the stencils? -
I have the H-6 and this just blows every single He-111 kit out of the water that was ever produced. I've got a few too many projects on the go but this is something special. It is also an absolute bargain as you can pick it up for around £35 if you shop around.

Kitty Hawk Su-34 Fullback Build Review 1:48

Mike, I found this photo when searching for references for my Hobby Boss and Trumpeter SU-34s. Not my photo but a good reference. (credit to db-flight@gmx.de) -
Trumpeter 1/72 SU-24M Fencer D
thepureness replied to thepureness's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
So to start the build. One thing I am really guilty of when it comes to aircraft with big payloads is leaving all the weapons, pods, fuel tanks etc to the end of the build and sometimes rushing them to get the kit finished. So with that in mind, I thought it would be a complete change to build all the weapons and fuel tanks first!!! With the kit, there is a huge amount of underwing stores and far too much to hang off one aircraft. But there will be a large number of spares. I've come up with an idea I've seen on other builds around the net and that is to build everything and then display all those weapons on a base with the finished aircraft. -
Kitty Hawk Su-34 Fullback Build Review 1:48
thepureness replied to Mike's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
Mike Very curious about this build. I don't rate the manufacturer at all but it could be my skills as a modeller. Show me how its done with your skills -
Good evening everyone. I've not started a work in progress for some time on Britmodeller as I got into magazine work a few years ago. With a workbench now clear of all magazine builds I now find myself with a chance to take something from the stash to be built. I've recently been putting together a big collection of modern Russia aircraft, the likes of the SU-27, SU-34, SU-25, SU-33 to name just a few so it's time I tackle one of these and blogged a build online for others to see instead of in a magazine. So I've gone with the SU-24M Fencer D in 1/72nd scale by Trumpeter. I've got the Eduard etched to spice things up and master pitot tube in transit. I'll keep posts to update you all The kit was also recently reviewed on britmodeller by Paul So check out the kit here if you want to see more

I do love a dirty bird. I'm actually about to start Trumpeter 1/72 Su-24M, what was the base colour you used as they grey?
