1. I did suggest something similar for when he performed the official opening ceremony for Jet Age museum - then I realised what an impressive list http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_aircraft_flown_by_Eric_"Winkle"_Brown it is! And here's a picture of when I met Eric Brown at that Jet Age opening ceremony. If the GB suggestion is taken up - I'm in.
2. I've got this set - bought it from Antics at Avon Model Show 2014. It did cause some forum controversy at the time - but 10 quid. The transfer sheet is absolutely excellent.
3. Fitted the engine front, then airbrushed White. Currently working on some pilots - none with this kit.
4. It builds to this - before I backdated this one. Overdone rivets, and a continuous teardrop fuselage shape. Generally showing her age. This is the Esci model. Recessed panel lines. This is the Airfix copy of Italeri. Close in quality to Esci, but my favourite - until I see the New Airfix offering.
5. This is my only current project - so is going quickly. Thanks for the great comments. I've got the fuselage together - and she's not really fighting back. Hoping to airbrush later today.
6. Green Light - up and running, or painting for the early part. This kit cost me 6 pounds at Yate Model Show in 2002. I'd seen the RAF Rescue Fujimi kit at a model shop in Minehead a few years previous - but somehow missed out. Here's most of the interior. and dry-fitting into the fuselage halves.
7. For anyone wishing to read this account - I've just found loads of copies on the shelves of The Works for 2.99. Leafing thru the early part I saw several mentions of Kurier - then he said about an Fw machine. That was when the penny dropped - Fw200 would be the only FockeWulf out where he was, so must have changed name sometime. Kurier probably derived from Courier, a pre-war transport plane.
8. Nice tribute - very well done. I've built a Matchbox model as a Privateer, and have a Revell kit to build as the RY-3 transport option.
9. I read "Wings on my Sleeve" by Eric Brown early last year - before meeting him at Jet Age. It took me some time to work out what a Kurier was. Eventually figured it's what we now know as an Fw200 Condor.
10. my mistake - I'll take the kits out into the garden and burn them or maybe substitute an Hs129B and PV-1 Ventura onto the consideration list.
11. Great suggestion. Anson, Fortresses, Liberators, Helldiver, Fw190A, He111s, Ju52 and Thunderbolts all figure in my stash.
12. Italeri Gripen in my stash, just begging for an excuse like this. Scrutinised the options last night - I even know which one I'll build it as.
13. Loads of eligible stuff in my stash for this: Harriers, Tornados, Eagle, Intruders - count me in.
14. Two Academy Fw190D9s in my stash - one with stripy pyjama camo. Plus a Dragon Ta-152C - is that eligible? ** I just read rules from 2012 - Ta-152s were allowed in that one ** Count me in.
15. Thanks for that warning. I've also got got Airfix and Revell Tornado GR kits - and was planning on swapping the decals.
16. Before this thread is locked and moved to the archive, I'd just like to thanks Chris Jephcott and Potato Pete for hosting this build. I looked forward to building my Lancaster B2 - well since I bought it in Autumn 2013, and this GB was the perfect opportunity to share that build. As always thanks to Mish for letting us play in her space.
17. Posting intent to build this kit. How this is a fighter - well there's something to debate. As the earlier SH-3D variant. Only planned additions will be pilots and seat belts. Here's a vew of the parts: When I go into my loft I'll photograph my previous Sea Kingish form: A horrible Airfix RAF Rescue Sea King, An even worse Starfix USAF Jolly Green Giant. Then these are related - but would be ineligible for this build An Airfix HH-53C Super Jolly, And an Italeri MH-53 Sea Dragon,
18. Reminder of my OOB p2V-7 build thread at - started 01 May 2014: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234960198-tims-p2v-7-neptune/ And what she looks like now. I'll try to add promenent exhaust fumes later.
19. Tip tanks and Propellors. and undercarriage doors. Just a final coat of matt, remaining glazing, and a few aerials left now. Hopefully completed before the weekend.
