Are you sure the '57 Chevrolet isn't a 1/12 or 1/16 scale kit? The Monogram E-Type looks like a lot of fun indeed...

Ach Roy you are right, its a 12th scale :)

The problem with 8th scale kits for me is, although I have quite a large modelling room, I don't have the space to have the Bugatti on the bench all the time, and have the odd tinker which eventually leads to it being finished. it will be finished though :)

Wow I didn't even know half of those even existed!

We are unlucky down here in Africa's Bottom that we don't see a tenth of those that are actually available in part works.

My all time No1 1/8th scale is the Pocher Bugatti T50. It took me years to find one at a decent price, and i'm building it :) (albiet very slowly)

Two others I have in my stash, The Monogram E Type and 57 Chevy that will be built some day.

    Very nice list Roy

It is rather an epic kit isn't it.....

Okay, first the Seatbelts. You can get replacement belts from Hiro yes, but also from Studio 27 as well and MFH. You need the racing harness set though, and they usually come with hardware for the buckles and fasteners. Tamiya also do a 24th scale set, but I'm not sure if there is a racing set.

One other solution that can be done if you cant get replacements or you are a just to tight to buy them :) , is that you can put the decals onto tamiya wide masking tape, give them a light mist of clear, then cut out the decals and place them on the seat. It gives them a bit more of a 3d effect that looks alright when viewed when the car is all closed up.

Onto the paint. Quite right about the paint and in my opinion nothing ruins a model more than using full size paint on a model.

The GT3 has a super smooth matt finish paint job. Tamiya has released TS 100 which is specific to this car, scale metallic finish but I believe the colour has also been released by Zero and Gravity too I think. If you are looking for your best bet, then Zero.

The way I do Matt finishes is Paint down, Clear varnish, Decals on, Matt or Semi Gloss over the top of that. Tamiya decals are Cartograph and super smooth and never had an issue in the past with them.

Hope this helps a little bit

I'm snucking in another one :)

Airfix 32nd scale Jaguar XKR GT3

These kits have intrigued me since they were released and I decided to buy them and see what they were like...

Whizz forward to 2017 and I've actually built one :)

Very nice kits, needs a bit of fettling here and there and when you get over the horrible wheels they are quite delightful

The decals put up one hell of a fight, especially on the rear wings, but with oodles of microsol they eventually behaved

I do like group builds, because people have some great ideas, like this one, but you have to wait so damn long, years sometimes, before it can get off the ground.

If I may add something to this idea.

As you say, there are numerous Tank GB's and STGB's on the go or coming up, but very little interest in British Armour.

But there is so much more than just MBT's.

Why not open it up to all FV series vehicles?

I've attached a list from wiki that contains the majority of them.

    Just a thought
