  1. I like very much the B-24. That Revell PB4Y (or B-24, the plastic parts are the same) is one of the best builds of that kit, if not the best that I saw. I saved in my computer all the photos and descriptions of "how to" that Bill made. It is a reference guide for me. It is extremely boring to have to stop the work to take photos of the parts, but Bill had the patience. I've tried, but I stay so excited with the assembly of a kit that I do not want to stop to photograph the pieces in intermediary stages of construction. I could not write a tutorial on the assembly of a model, as Bill and other modelers do - and so well.
  2. Besides the fun, laziness should also be taken into account. I corrected some things in my Airfix B-24, others not. For example, the "anemic" rudders were enlarged a bit, all those exaggerated rivets were eliminated, and I tried to improve a few other little things. Already in my Academy B-24J (not finished yet), I did not need (or did not want) "fix" almost nothing, IMHO the big drawback are the clear parts of the nose and tail turrets, because they are split in two halves. I wanted to use replacement clear parts (vac) from Squadron, but I will end using the original Academy clear parts. This reading can be interesting.
  3. IMHO the best compromise between quality and price is the Academy kit. On the other hand I have some Airfix B-24's (one built and others in my stash) and I love this old kit. It's a rough diamond, just needs a bit of polishing :-)
  4. I like very much photo-reconnaissance aircraft, and I would like to build (convert) some 1/72 scale kits of american PR aircraft. However, it is difficult to find certain information regarding some types such as the arrangement of the cameras on the airframe. While information about american types such as the F-4/F-5 (P-38) and F-6 (P-51) are easy to find, drawings / photos on other types like the F-9 (photo-recce B-17) and even the F-3 (PR Douglas A-20) are rarely found. Can anyone help? I can not find photos / drawings showing the exact position/shape of the "windows" for the F-3 (A-20) and F-9 (B-17) cameras. Additional information (position of "photo-windows") of the F-2 (Beechcraft Expeditor), F-10 (B-25) and F-13 (B-29) are also very welcome. Cheers!
