With the Messerschmitt finished (badly) my next trick is to build a P-40 Tomahawk out of this lot; I checked the box a few weeks ago and there is at least one Frog P-40 Tomahawk in there, as well as a Frog P-40E Kittyhawk. But thats for later

I'm not quite sure where to put this I'm putting it with 'Figures' as it is personal equipment Given to me recently by a club mate. It needed refurbishment. I packed it with lead weight to bring it up to the weight of a real one and I added the spring belt clip that some of these had, replaced the string pull and the plastic 'bead' with a real wood one What I got was this; and finished it like this

Just put rust/corrosion of the appropriate type where it is appropriate I once saw at SMW, Telford a nicely done scene of an abandoned Chevrolet Corvette with rusty wheel arches, bonnet and sills

When Humbrol and Heller were one company Heller adopted the Humbrol paint numbers for some of the paints they didn't have in their range. Even after they split Heller still uses some of the numbers -
On welding; I had an uncle who worked for Shorts & Harland during the war. He actually spent his working life there. He was a senior Boiler Maker & Welder Harlands built AFVs during the war, as well as ships and aircraft. And from time to time my uncle had to go to the other construction areas. My uncle told me of a welding process used on the AFVs which I didn't really understand until I saw it used by Northern Ireland Railways about 10 years ago A fillers and magnesium paste (and other stuff) was applied to the joint and covered in clay. Then an electric current was applied, The paste burnt fast and hot, The clay was knocked off and you had your weld. The clay confined the heat in and on the joint. The speed the paste burnt at the other parts hardly had time to get hot N.I.R. used the same type of welding when they joined all the individual track lengths. They applied the paste, put a safety cover over it, applied electric current, moments later the tracks were welded. A worker used an angle grinder to smooth the weld as this was a rail track. But there was minimal grinding to do, the welders had got the amount of paste just right

If you can get the paint code you can cross check what other manufacturer used the same colour eg, the red of my 1930 Austin 7 Ulster was used by; Renault, Citroen, BLMC, Lamborghini, Ferrari, de Tomaso, NSU and few others When I had a batch mixed up the Renault was current so we labelled the tin with the mix code and 'Renault xxx red'. Easier for the future.

Tamiya acrylic is alcohol based and needs an alcohol to thin, and/ or plain water. Anything other will re-act badly with it. The other paints are are waterbased -

I thought Colourcoats only does enamels and the OP wants acrylic -
The 'frame' is good. I have, in two places, wood bars running up/down the wall. Two bars, 2" x 1" x the length of the wall space and to these are screwed shelf brackets. I can change the spacing of the shelves easily by unscrewing the brackets and repositioning. Its easier and far less messy than having the brackets screwed into the wall The shelves can be notched out round the bars to fit flush to the wall. I've only done that on one set

I have this, received as an answer to an enquiry; 'Udet's machine was most definitely RED. There is no need to guess the colour from a black and white photo when it is possible to read a contemporary newspaper report. The Neue Zürcher Zeitung, 26 July 1937, had the following. "Ist etwas passiert? Wo ist Udet? Doch da kommt die rote Maschine..." Has something happened? Where is Udet? Ah, here comes the red machine... '

I think 'linen' has been translated as 'cloth' Doped linen is an off-white colour. As it ages is goes a bit yellow. Humbrol 103 is good for an average colour

The rudder stripes were blue leading from WW1 They were this way to match the French stripes In 1930 the stripes were reversed to differ from the French. In 1929-1930 it was believed that the next war would be against the French Later the tail stripes were removed completely because the paint on them was leading to balance issues. Rudder stripes did not come back until 1939 when Hurricanes sent to France carried them as per the French as an identifier. They were again removed and came back in April 1940 as fin stripes, red leading
