  1. Brasso on a piece of denim will do the job too.
  2. The Airfix Jules Verne's Nautilus, listed in 1981 catalogue - we are still waiting for it. = 32 plus years
  3. I've already signed up, but if you add in me, myself and my Id, thats three more
  4. For most of my biplanes I prefer nylon fishing line, and occasionally stretched sprue for shorter rigging wires.
  5. I would hope that brake fluid would not remove chrome plating. On some vehicles the pistons in the brake calipers are chrome plated. I would like to think that the part behind the seal would still be plated and not be getting dechromed and the brake fluid contaminated. By the way; I use caustic soda as it removes the varnish sometimes fould under the chrome on model parts. The 'chrome' on plastic parts is actually varnished aluminium.
  6. jabberwocky; your experiences with it are contrary to mine; I dip my canopies and put them on a bit of crumbled up kitchen paper-towel, to soak up any run off, only sometimes does the canopy stick, but very slightly and it has never pulled Klear off. And once hardened I handle the canopy normally, and never have my finger prints been left on the canopy. Parns; the answer to your question is - do not uses maskol. It contains ammonia, which does remove Klear, very efeictively too. Other have used copydex or Windsor & Newton Artists Masking Medium. I sometimes use thick pva glue.
  7. Perhaps it was a film prop?
  8. With the very high back, I'd suggest an Apache, or Eurocopter, or a similar helicopter.
  9. It may be day-glo orange, About this time the Chippys had day-glow stripes and panels painted as the colour scheme went through different styles.
  10. As for the hex size. The likes of Maplins sells screwdiver sets which have a multitude of different miniature bolt head fittigs [torque, star, hex, anti-tamper etc]. You may find something within that set or single tool at Maplins. hth, a bit. F
  11. The VI which went on some of the low level raids had a bomber nose with two cameras, one facing forward and down fixed, and one handheld by the cameraman.
  12. For a really cheap compressor one can use the ones that come in ladies self-taning sets. A full set is about £40 but can be bought for as little as a tenner. I've been using one, made by Babyliss, for years. Its the same as some expensive models. It has its limitations but by using one of these one can save for a much better compressor. P.S. one can use spare tyres too, Badger do a converter for the valve.
  13. In a biography I read; the writer had been a tank driver on all fronts. On the Eastern front he got instructions from his tank commander to get some paint and apply it. With the gunner he drew paints from stores and just threw it over parts of the tank and skirts.
  14. No, he not holding the tail down, he's very carefully adding that 1/2oz needed according to Boeing instructions.
  15. I concur with trickyrich - stretched sprue is great as a gap filler. If one uses liquid glue such as EMA the sprue dissolves more and becomes more like part of the kit.
  16. As far as I know only RLM 66 is matt in the Xtracolor range, all the rest are gloss.
  17. Once again great and speedy service. I required some paints, opened a discussion with C/M, because they cant send paints beyond the mainland. Order was placed very late on Monday and delivered to a friend of mine on Wednesday.
  18. I use a pasta maker [as in the link] with my polymerclay. It only goes down to about slightly more than 1mm.but it does give even thickness to any sheet. With polymer clay, one must not use anything with it then use that for food. Milliput might be different.
  19. Mikestarmer has just posted this on the Airfix Forum; KLM aircraft were not silver, aluminium or anything similar. They were a very pale grey designated L40/52 Hellgrau, Humbrol 40 is nearest OOT matched to the swatch in Ullmann's book but this may even be a little too dark. The tonal value was supposed to match or be equal to dull aluminium.
  20. The only things I can add to the above; if brushing it on watch out for minute airbubbles, and whether dipping or brushing, use a tissue/paper towel to wick away any Klear which will run to the lowest areas.
  21. Were not some Luft Hansa Ju52s used for training pilots of the new Luftwaffe? I would suggest that these machines, shared between the pilot training scheme and civil duty may have been RLM63 Light Grey.
