  1. Thanks Bill I must say I'm determined to see this through to the end now, I thought I might be pushing my limits a bit with trying to do all the extra work but its coming along and I'm pleasantly surprised with my work, by no means show stuff, but locked away in a display case it will pass as "oh look thats got some extra detail!". I guess it important to say how useful this website is and a big thank you to people who have posted their own tips and tricks, I couldn't do it without their inspiration. Dave
  2. The construction of the FLIR was not that difficult, a 5mm BB gun pellet makes up the sphere and some spru cut to shape and profiled to make the sides, its fixed to the fuselage by a small box section made from some Evergreen, it scales quite well but i have not over detailed as its so small, plus its going to be hidden has the model will be displayed with the cabin door open. Thanks Dave
  3. Small update. Noticed that the kit rotor blades are based on the older style, so have set about modifing them to look a bit more modern. The top one has had a bit of plastic card inserted to increase the blade area. Only need to do it another four times. Thanks for looking Dave
  4. Thanks Oliver Thats quite a nice bit of positive reinforcement from such a skilled modeler, luv your medivac so much detail, my fingers just cant do it!!! Dave
  5. Rizzo Trully outstanding work. Thanks for sharing. Dave
  6. Jags, cool as cucumbers, still see them regularly at Cranwell taxing around, all dressed up in black with the Saint logo on the tail. Dave
  7. Thanks Tommy To get the foil to stick was a bit of poly cement and where needed a bit of CA, seemes to have worked, and now its all sealed up it should be ok. Dave
  8. Smashing stuff, thats what I dream of being able to do. Dave
  9. Pete Great stuff, love that 88. Dave
  10. Hi merlin3945 I struggle with planes just as much as helicopters re getting the bits to stick on correctly, but I think the opportunity to do more interior work is greater with the choppers, but I am happy to stick anything together, some times they even look good, or so the the wife and kids tell me.
  11. Bud Great work there, looking forward to seeing it progress. Dave
  12. Small update. Added some PE and started work on a scratch built FLIR and the Engine Box Filters. These are stuck on with blue tack to check for scale and fit. Slow progress, but as like most people I only get a few hours per week to do anything. Thanks for looking Dave
  13. At RAF Cranwell, out of my office window I see, Grobs, Grobs, Grobs, Kingairs, Grobs, Kingairs, Tucano, Grob, once in a while the black Jags taxi by, more Grobs and Kingairs, a Typoon, now and then a Merlin or Chinook. Do miss the old Domines though.
  14. Good stuff, sure I can here Richard Burton going "Broadsword calling Danny boy" "Broadsword calling Danny boy".
  15. NIce stuff, always did like the wellington, did one back in 73ish I think.
  16. Thanks Giorgio. The trick with the canopy wast not mine, just an idea picked up on one of the threads on the Airfix Seaking, but it has worked out quite well. Another area that is poor is the engine housing, a very poor quality part that needs some major help concidering its simple fit. Currently trying to get loads of PE stuff to sit correctly on and around the exteior body. Dave
  17. Thanks everyone for the positive support. Dave
  18. Ok a few more pics, this is the inside all painted and ready to close up. More of the inside. A look inside once closed. Cant see much though And my attempt at getting the canopy to sit correctly, did it by spacing out the front bow and then in filling once the glass had cemented ok. Started preping the various areas for the photo etched parts, thats really testing my patience, so I have slowed down a bit. Regards Dave
  19. Hi Have decided to return to modelling after a 30 year break, mainly due to my young lads buying kits and then finding they actually need to spend time on them as well, so they ended up in my study (a tiny room with a desk in it). So with a few models under my belt to get me going, heres a quick view of a few and the Seaking I have started a few months ago (about 9ish) The WIP at the moment is a 1:72 scale Airfix Seaking, not a lot of good comments on this one on various forums, so I was a bit worried if I was taking on too much, but as my wife always says "you never listen anyway". I wanted to add some detail, with no experience of scratch building I thought yeah lets do a full interior!!! So no laughing please... Loads more to do yet, loads of etched stuff to fix on it, plus, I want the tail in the stored position along with the rotors as well. Oh yes and getting that damned Canopy to fit, not looking forward to that. Regards Dave
