  1. Mum and baby still in hospital. Number 3 having his afternoon nap. So i did this! Added "glass" to the dials And put together what i have so far. Also did some work on the cockpit walls. Have also found loads of pieces that are on the sprues but are not on the instructions!! They are to be included because I can see where they should be. I.e. ends for the ammunition boxes and other what nots. They are shown in place later in the sheet but not on the step they should be in. Not too much of a hassle if you spot something doesn't look quite right but a massive pain if you don't and have to pull things apart. I will use enormous powers of telepathy and hopefully figure out what goes where and when. Cheers for looking Kevin
  2. Thanks guys.. my normal post time of midnight will now be moved to 3am as stu predicted.
  3. Btw. Little one is all perfect... Healthy and beautiful.. Cheers all Kev
  4. I did!!! Until visiting time finished! Then I did some work on the office. Cheers all Kevin
  5. Baby no 4 arrived today at 3 am. All perfect... Model on the shelf for a while... Kev
  6. Thanks very much. Btw.... Baby four arrived today at 3 am. Yeah.... Cheers all Kevin
  7. The kit itself wasn't too bad except for the cutting of the nose section. It could have been much easier. I learnt a lot from this and hope it improves all my builds from now on in. Cheers Kevin
  8. Better shape up then now someone is watching!! I may be in need of mojo myself. The kit is daunting when you open the box. It's as stuffed as it can be. I intend to take my sweet time over this. Though maybe not through choice! Cheers Kev.
  9. Ok call me mad. I only just put the fw ta 152 in the cupboard, and this was winking at me from the corner... I got if for just over twenty quid an absolute steal considering it comes with the two extra engines. Opening the box you are greeted by a huge array of plastic... And some p.e. belts and wot not. The detail is lovely the panel lines are not too deep but very crisp. the kit gives options to leave the nose open displaying the armaments and also to display both engines. Knowing me everything I can display will be on show. Going to go totally oob as the kit is very comprehensive. Maybe a little plumbing here and there but not as much work as I did on the 152. Am going with the box art colours. Made a start on the cockpit and i.p.. the radio gear is dark grey with a white dry brush followed by a black ink wash and same for the I.p. which I will pick out some extra colour on later as per the instructions. I will POP a drop of canopy glue on each dial to simulate glass. Everything else is steel(citedel bolt gun with a black ink wash) or valleyos rlm 66 with a black ink wash to pick up the detail. I think this may take a while as baby is sooo sooooo close to arriving. Thanks all for looking I hope you will enjoy this one as much as me. Cheers all Kevin
  10. Once again thanks ever so much guys. And yes stu it was blu tac for the leading edges, I used it for all the upper surface masking. I am looking forward to seeing yours progress. Cheers all Kevin
  11. Glad to see you cracking on with this again. Looking forward to seeing somebody else's rendition of this one. I personally loved painting it. Hope you enjoy too. Kev

  15. Here is model number 10 for me. First time using anything aftermarket. Aires db603 engine. It was supposed to be a quickish build but that didn't happen. Kit went together fine and am really happy with it. Take time if you can to have a look at the wip. There is a lot you can't see from the pics. This is the voluminous wip http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=234921183&hl= This was what I was aiming for And here is what i ended up with....enjoy. Hope you liked. Not perfect but then what is?? Model number 11 may be some way off as baby here soon. Thanks so much for looking Kevin
  16. Had a few hours to try to finish. Close but no cigar... Just the canopy and it should be r.f.I. I replaced the gun barrels with brass tube. Had a night mare with the very Fiddely undercarriage. Lost the seat belts about five times, but i am happy for what is my tenth kit to date. Learnt loads along the way. Hopefully just time to finish off properly before baby comes. Thanks for looking. End in sight?? Kevin
  17. Thanks very much. Race against time now. With three kids can only get one night a week on this. And number four coming in two weeks! Can I finish before she arrives? If not it may sit on the shelf for a while.... Kevin
  18. Have had another crack at it tonight. Firstly disaster struck when i decided to buy some new cleaner for my airbrush. Bought in a nameless model chain. It totally destroyed my airbrush. Followed the instructions. But for some reason it melted all the rubber seals in it?? The worst being in the air valve. It stuck on and wouldn't return. Luckily a customer gave me a brand new one (I must do some decent haircuts) with a bent needle that I managed to replace from the other. And only lost an hour of my life messing about. Managed to repaint the underside, I hope correctly? And apply a good coat of flat which toned the colour down and gave it a whole different appearance. I attached the cowls with tiny plasticard hinges and they look great. Needs a little touching up inside them but i am very happy. I removed the masking off the canopy and the clear plastic had marked somehow? Like a bloom effect? A quick sand and polish with micromesh and a coat of klear seems to have solved it. After Thanks for looking everyone and any help or observations greatly appreciated. Kevin
  19. Just read a topic about paint scaling. http://www.cybermodeler.com/color/scale_effect.shtml. If i use scale correct colour to fade the grey and green then i guess its ok? Any thoughts? I have never read about this before and its quite interesting. Kevin
  20. I will rectify the fuselage underside next painting session. Needs to be done, when i was doing it I thought it maybe wasn't right. I will.also fade her a bit too. Not loads but enough to show some life lived. Once again thanks loads for the help. P.s with the preshading if you try white base with black preshading the effect is more pronounced, not good with light colours but darker colours it does help. Tamiya flat base is very light compaired to say humbrol spray undercoat. Kevin
  21. Good point, it is very Matt/flat and that could give impression of fading in b&w pics. On the few picks that show, the top piece of the cowl above the hing on the right its very chipped/worn, right to the metal of looks like, in quite a large patch. Or is that me. The pic I have posted in my first post from the rear. You can make it out but I did see one that was clearer. I will find it and post it if I can..
  22. Cheers Tim . I was going by the hobbyboss colour page and other models I had seen on the net. Should I take the rlm 76 straight across from the flap edge on one side to the flap edge on the other?? As for the soot. It's a mix of tamiya smoke and tamiya black. And when that's applied it has a gloss finish. But when I am done weathering it will all be coated in flat throughout. Any thoughts about the amount of fading that would have occurred on the green and grey?? Thanks again Kevin
  23. Thanks very much Cheers. I think its about right too. Need to fade the green and grey in places on the the fuse and wings. I will have a week off to think. Thanks for looking Kevin
  24. I know the reference pic is of W.Nr 110006 VH+EY and not the craft I am modelling but it shows the weathering pattern I am aiming for. Here is where I am now. Used a thinned bolt gun metallic and a black wash. Not 100% but in the right direction I hope. Any input is appreciated? If anyone's looking. Seem to have posted lots and nobody is out there?? Cheers for looking Kevin
