  1. I've built this kit myself Pawel, and it's a really nice one. Looking forward to seeing yours come together
  2. I've never built a Zvesda kit, so this will be interesting
  3. That's a really nice Cromwell Jason. There's something beautiful in their pug-ugliness & you've captured that brilliantly. Excellent photography too! Cheers Patrick
  4. That's a great looking Tomahawk! Just shows what can be done literally OOB
  5. I do have a soft spot for the Scooter & looking at yours makes me want to get one! A brilliant result, the paintwork is superb & the weathering subtle, but effective. Cheers Patrick
  6. It's very difficult to find Tamiya lacquer thinner here these days due to shipping restrictions. However, as Colin rightly points out it is just cellulose thinner so any brand will be the same. I've used the stuff sold in Halfords (ballentines) with good results, although I've recently moved to the high-gloss stuff which is much the same price ml for ml Cheers Patrick
  7. I have the G-6 version awaiting paint (and a new supercharger intake because I lost half of the kit one!) Although it looks a complex kit in the box, it's actually a joy to build. Cheers Patrick
  8. You sure that's not actually 1/48? Brilliant work, a very fine 109 Cheers Patrick
  9. That is looking rather brilliant! The exhaust is probably one of the most realistic I've seen
  10. I always use enamels or Tamiya acrylics ( thinned with cellulose thinner, so they're honorary enamels in my book!) I might investigate another form of matt coat once my Humbrol pot is finished Gad, I must crack on with this build!
  11. The TIE fighter looks to be a rebox of the AMT release, although you get 2 plus a base. Worth seeking out on eBay as they occasionally crop up.
  12. As the guys have said, bubbles in the paint cup is usually a nozzle sealing problem. A little bit of beeswax on the thread of the nozzle helps create a seal. You can also wrap PTFE tape around the thread too - more fiddly, but less sticky than the beeswax.
  13. I've always wanted to build a Phantom - the Matchbox one I did as a kid doesn't count! So I'm watching this excellent build with interest
  14. That cockpit is certainly better detailed than the AMT pair I have. Watching this one with interest
  15. Very nice, I like that a lot - good to see one in something other than desert camo
  16. Well Dave, I haven't berated your build. I merely pointed out a pretty substantial error - having the barrel 90° out of alignment. Perfection might not be achievable, but following the instructions should be within your capabilities? As for the aerials, that was just a suggestion for a better way to do them, rather than rely on kit parts that are often not up to scratch. Clearly you're not one for constructive comment
  17. I do like that one Dave, you've done a good job there. The only things that grab my attention in a less-than-positive way is the misaligned barrel ( or just the muzzle brake if it's a separate part) & the aerials coz they're much too thick. I usually use stretched sprue to give a nicely tapered end. Just some thoughts for the next one
  18. That's an excellent Spitfire! Lovely clean paintwork & the wing to fuselage join is flawless Cheers Patrick
  19. and I don't get headaches often at all. Fair enough! Health always comes first although you should give careful thought to using a face mask & buying or making a spray booth. Acrylics still produce particulates that shouldn't be breathed in. Cheers Patrick
  20. Just to add.. Humbrol Clear is a water-soluble acrylic product
  21. I'm curious, but as a flat-dwelling user of enamels, your comment of "I live in a flat, so there's no way I could spray enamels, so the decision is to go Acrylics " just makes me wonder why? Spraying enamels isn't anywhere as smelly as common belief says it is! Don't get me wrong,I'm not knocking your decision but I'm always fascinated by the way so many returning modellers choose acrylics without giving enamels a fair crack. Do I have to prime the model? With Vallejo... oh yes! Without primer, it won't grip the plastic as well. Can I use Humbrol Clear on Vallejo acrylics? Yep, no problem Once I've coated with Clear, is it safe to use Humbrol Enamel washes with no adverse effects? Or will it all just melt/bubble/crack into a great big mess? Yep, I do it all the time. Just make sure the Clear has cured, I leave it a minimum of 24 hours. Is it safe to thin Vallejo with water, or would I be better off buying some thinners? Many people do use water, but I'd use Vallejo thinners. Cheers Patrick
  22. That's looking so good, and what an excellent idea with the masks! Shame I only saw this after spending an hour straining my eyes with Bf 110 canopy!
