  1. Thanks for the good reception guy. Yes Kev I did do a bit of re-scribing, not my favourite pastime. Also I can recommend the vac canopy from Falcon. This was my first attempt and I found it a lot easier to fit than the original. Cheers Ian
  2. Hi folks. Here is my effort of an Airfix Mosquito Mk XVIII. I used a clear canopy from Falcon, part of a photo etch set from Airwaves and also a bit of scratch building for the cockpit and guns (I lost the original guns which now live somewhere in my shed). Anyway here are the photos. Cheers Ian
  3. Wow! What a bird and another excellent job Jamie. Cheers Ian
  4. Excellent job. I have got to get me one these! Cheers Ian
  5. Here are a few photos taken at Duxford last weekend. Cheers Ian
  6. Fantastic rendition of a classic bird. What a build. Cheers Ian
  7. Brilliant job in any scale but for 1/144 truly excellent! Great work Fred. Cheers Ian
  8. I would second that, great job. I have posted a photo of the Shuttleworth Galdiator and this is an excellent rendition. http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234940179-a-few-aircraft-photos/ Cheers Ian
  9. Excellent job! I had the same problem with the antenna of an earlier Spit I made so I used a piece of sprue fixed in the chuck of my dremel and a small file and turned a new one. It took a few attempts but it worked. I have done this model and you are spot on about the decals but you have done (and I will say it again) an excellent job. Cheers Ian
  10. Fantastic job! I have got one of these kits and I am going to have a go at one of these. What did you use for the rigging medium? Cheers Ian
  11. Good luck with them Jamie. I am in the process of doing a 1/48 scale P-40 Tomahawk which I have made some engine grills from bits of an old dish washer! I will post some photo's of them up myself when finished. Cheers Ian
  12. Wow! What an excellent job with the faults. We have all done them. I was once doing two kits at the same time and put the wrong props on each one. I forgot to say, great paint job. Cheers Ian
  13. Great job so far! Can't wait for the next instalment. Cheers Ian
  14. Thanks for the kind comments and I have just checked the stabilisers on the model, they are level but I see what you mean on the photo's. The stabilisers were not the greatest fit so what I normally do with wings and stabilisers, especially at this scale, is to drill a hole in the wing root and the fuselage and attach thick copper wire with super glue to give added strength. Also I find it make it a lot easier to get them to the require angle before I apply the glue for the final fix. Cheers Ian
  15. Hello Andre No I sprayed it neat, just as it came out of the bottle. I did try Quick Shine Floor Polish from Lakeland but Pledge's floor wax is the best I think for the coat given and for the price. If you have any more questions please just let me know. Cheers Ian
  16. Hi Jamie I usually set the pressure around 15 - 20 psi and just vary the distance. I always do a few light coats instead of one heavy one. If you have a piece of scrap plastic I would practise on that first. I would always leave it over night before adding the decals or washes. I think it is self levelling. I have used it on a few tank builds and it works well with Vallejo washes as well. http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234939637-my-heng-long-tiger-build/ Cheers Ian
  17. Hi Jamie Pledge Klear Multi-surface wax (750ml) cost around £5 - £6 and is available from Asda, Sainsbury's, etc and you just spray it straight from the bottle. If you didn't know but it is also excellent for dipping canopies as well as a polish for floors! Micro Set and Sol is available from most model shops or on-line for just over £3 each. http://www.wonderlandmodels.com/brands/microscale/ . I have finished another Spitfire also in 1/72 its the Spitfire Mk1 by Airfix if you are interested http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234941980-airfix-172-spitfire-mk1/ which was completed the same way as the MkV. If you need any more help or info please just let me know? Cheers Ian
  18. Hi Jammur All the paints I use are acrylics including the varnishes. I first primed it with Vallejo's gray primer and after that I pre-shaded using Tamiya matt black thinned 50 - 50 with Tamiya X20 thinner. Once dried I sprayed the underside with Tamiya XF-83 Medium Sea Gray 2. I then masked off the underside and started on the camouflage. First using XF-82 Ocean Gray 2 I sprayed freehand the first part of the camouflage and the XF-81 Dark Green finishing the camouflage. All were thinned to again a 50-50 mix with X20 thinner. Once dried I glossed with Johnson & Johnson Pledge Floor Polish and left to dry over night. The decals were added next using Micro Set and Sol and I left over night to dry again. Next I sprayed with floor polish again giving it 2 or 3 coats and again I left it to dry. After that I used Promodellers Dark Earth Wash which is just painted all over the Spit and left it to dry for half an hour. Then using a paper towel and a cotton bud for tight area's with a bit of saliva on it I started to take the wash off it the direct of the airflow (front to back). I think Phil Flory has a video on youtube on how to use the wash but it is really easy. When I was happy with that I sprayed another coat of floor polish on it then using black thinned to about 10% I sprayed on the smoke around the engine exhaust. To finish I gave it a final coat of Vallejo's Satin Varnish. I hope this helps? Ian
  19. A classic rendition of a classic jet. It's a cracking build, we'll done! Cheers Ian
