  1. I am doing this kit now. I'll be happy if the one I am doing turns out half as good as this one. Great job. Cheers Ian
  2. Crack'n job. An excellent rendition of an excellent machine. I took this photo a few weeks ago at Duxford and I think it shows your Spit is bang on the money. Great job. Cheers Ian

  10. Thanks for all the comments guys and for taking the time. You are right Stu there was a far bit of re-scribing and Joachm you are right about the pilot but I did cut his head off and stick a piece of cooper wire in it to turn it get the angle I wanted. I also did do some clear disc's for props but I didn't think they looked right some back to plan "A". One of the reasons I go post loads of photo's is the viewer can be better informed but I will take it on-board and also a picture says a thousand words and I can't type very fast. But seriously though as I am quite new to the hobby I did this model to see how cheaply it could be done and to practise re-scribing. The kit cost about £6.99, the brass tube was £1.49 and as for the decals I swapped them from a the Bilec Whirlwind kit which cost me £4.00. The radiators was cut from an old dishwasher filter, as I have said before the base is a scrap piece of oak flooring, the guns are tubes off glue pots and the aerial is a pin. So with the paint it cost around £20 all in. I already had the tools. Not bad as it kept me occupied for hours. Cheers Ian
  11. Just finished my effort of Airfix's Whirlwind fighter. It mostly out of the box except the guns are from the metal tubes off glue pots , the antenna stork is a dressmaking pin and the decals are mostly from a Bilec Whirlwind kit (I think thats the name) as Airfix's decals just looked the wrong colour to me. The stand I made from a brass tube and the base is a piece of scrap oak flooring which I routed and waxed. Anyway here are a lot of photo's as I have got a new camera. Please let me know what you think? Cheers Ian
  12. Thanks guys for taking the time to comment. Cheers Ian

  15. I forgot to thank Miggers for the excellent advice. Cheers mate I will have ago on my next effort. As for the rings on the spinners, I sprayed them white and using an idea offf someone else (sorry I can't remember who) I used an "O" ring from a set I got off Amazon for approx £6. I placed the size I was after on the spinner but because of the angle and shape of the spinner the "O" would blow off. Then I had a common sense attack. I decided to paint on a touch of that light blue latex mask on the inside of the "O" to temporarily fix it to the spinner. It worked and if you put too much of the mask on, it is easy to remove. Now I just sprayed on the grey, waited for it to dry and removed the ring. Any mistakes can be touched up later. Cheers Ian
  16. After seeing this I think I have got to get one these! Great job. Cheers Ian
  17. Double wow! What an excellent rendition of a brilliant jet. Cheers Ian
  18. I had a bit of bother with the undercarriage as well. I got the Falcon canopy from Hannants (£12.50 approx). The good news is it isn't just one canopy, its quite a few including Spitfires, Hurricanes, Beaufighters, etc. Here is the one I got. I hopes this helps. Cheers Ian
  19. Thanks again guys for the comments and advice, I will give them ago on my next build. Cheers Ian
