  1. I followed the build and what a finish! Another excellent job! Cheers Ian
  2. Bill can you please stop weathering any more as you are just too good! Excellent build. Cheers Ian
  3. Very clean build and superb paint job to finish. Just perfect! Cheers Ian
  4. Excellent P40. I love the eye catching paint scheme, great job. Cheers Ian
  5. What a superb job on a great old kit, brilliant. Cheers Ian
  6. Well done! I have only one problem and that is I want one and I hope mine comes out as good as this. Cheers Ian
  7. I made one of these a few weeks ago and I agree with Busdriver, excellent job. Cheers Ian
  8. Wow! I like that and now I want one. How many days to Christmas? Cheers Ian
  9. Thanks guys for the kind comments and for taking the time to comment. Cheers Ian
  10. Thanks Roger. The only problem I came across was with the tail wheel. It seemed to me to be a little short so I cut off the tail wheel strut, drilled a small hole in the wheel and added a replacement strut made from a pin. It does the job and it is rock solid. Cheers Ian
  11. Here is my first attempt at 1/48 scale with Academy's P40 Tomahawk IIb. The kit is an OOB build with a bit of detail added to the cockpit, wheels, etc. The paints used were Tamiya and Vallejo. The kit was a straight forward build costing only £7.99. Cheers Ian
  12. The wash I used was a sludge wash from Promodeller. The panel lines for Airfix at 1/72 to me seem slightly too wide but that could be just me and my old eyes so I am going to evoke the Marmite Theory , you either love it or hate it. My next effort I am thinking of trying a different wash to see how that comes out. The reason I post on the forums is to see if I am doing the kits justice and for you my peers to give me advice, criticism and hopefully praise so thanks guys for taking the time to comment. Now I think I am going to have some toast and Marmite Cheers Ian
  13. Here is my build of Airfix's Zero. This is an out of the box build plus extra detail in the cockpit, such as seat belts, throttle levers, etc. Also the pitot tube is a snapped drill bit instead of the plastic kit one. Cheers Ian
  14. Perfect! This is a classic aircraft and you have done it proud with this classic build. Like the photo's as well. Cheers Ian
  15. Thanks Hythe you are spot on the money. I did cut the 20mm canon barrels off but as you said the kit has F8F-1B/2 wings with the canon blisters so I put the 20mm barrels back. The canopy that comes with the kit I found wasn't the best plus that I think it is off an F8F-2 as it has the additional rear frame. The new canopy was from Squadron (SQ9117), I couldn't get hold of a Falcon canopy, as for the exhausts I didn't spot them. As I have said before, I did add extra detail to the cockpit by adding ribs, flight controls and control panel but you can't see on the photo's. Also on the wheel wells and behind the engine there are big air gaps which a filled with plastic card and added detail with bend copper wire. But as you said it looks nice for what I think is a 30 year old kit for £6! Anyway thanks to everyone for taking the time to comment and for the advice which is much appreciated. Cheers Ian
  16. Love it! Fault less build. Thanks for posting this masterpiece of a build. Cheers Ian
  17. I forgot these photo's of the port side. Thanks guys for the comments and Bill you are right, it is a cracking little kit. It did need re- scribing and I added details in wheel wells and cockpit as there aren't any. I used copper wire, bits of plastic card and lead for the seat harness. Cheers Ian
  18. Here is my 1/72 Revell Bearcat F8F-1. I used a vacu-form canopy and decals by Starfighter. I also replaced the guns with metal ones made from the tubes you get off glue pots. Cheers Ian
