  1. That is some outstanding info there Ron. I appreciate it. I've got the rear pylon from Reskit. It would be nice if they produce a front one, but I don't think I'm going to wait. Fusion360 to the rescue. Cameron
  2. Maybe Jim Rotramel will see this and chime in. Working on a Hasegawa 1/72 F-111A during Constant Guard in 1972 and am trying to find more/any decent photos or drawings of the pylon used to mount the ALQ-87 ECM pod to the weapons bay door. Any help would be much appreciated.
  3. I've got a partial photo that suggests that the F-82 used a plywood seat similar to that found in the mid-late P-51B/C. Does anyone have any photo or reference documentation that can help me establish what seats were used in the F-82F/G Twin Mustang? TIA. Cameron
  4. A query from across the pond. Is there any reference book available showing RAF uniforms and flight gear from the Second World War timeframe? I'm primarily an aircraft modeler, but I'd like to put some figures with a couple of my completed models and I'm looking for reference material. I appreciate any assistance in advance. Cameron
  5. Working on a Tamiya Spitfire I. Doing the seam work on the fuselage with sanding sticks, and I've jacked up the raised tear shaped "reinforcing plate"? on top of the fuselage spine where the radio mast mounts. I'm doubtful that I can adequately deal with the seams and preserve the reinforcing plate, so I'm preparing to just sand off the plate to deal with the seam. Then I'll be faced with replacing the reinforcing plate. Option A is cutting plastic sheet in the appropriate shape and then gluing it back where I removed the molded on detail. Option B? Does anyone produce a photoetched version? I don't know that there is an alternative, but I figured that if anyone would have ideas it would be you gentlemen (and/or ladies). Thanks for your thoughts in advance and best wishes. Cameron
  6. I'm looking for someone with the Classic Airframes Meteor NF.11/13 kit who would be willing to let me borrow the resin for a couple of weeks. After the Special Hobby NF14 kit came out I sold mine, and only now realize that the cockpits were almost identical and the resin from the CA kit would go a long way toward helping with the Special Hobby kit. Of course now I can't buy the kit for twice what I sold mine for. If possible, I'd like to borrow your set of resin and pressure cast a copy, then send back the originals to you. They'd be undamaged and I'd be happy to talk about some sort of compensation for your time, assistance and shipping. Thanks for looking. Cameron
  7. That's bitterly disappointing. Especially since I've already sold my CA Blenheim IV. Ugh.
  8. Any word on if/when Airfix is going to release a Mark IV from their previously release Mk I kit in 1/48? Or perhaps an aftermarket conversion? I could swear I saw one mentioned somewhere. Not sure why we haven't seen anything newer than the old Classic Airframes kit.
  9. I was very keen when the new tool Airfix Vulcan came out...and was also keen for the aftermarket to spew out a bunch of new and exciting stuff to make it look better. But nobody, even Eduard, seems to have done anything for the kit. No etch, no resin, no decals. Nada. Am I missing something... Just a Yank...in love with a Vulcan.
  10. That being said, I should have stuck to the OP's question. Yes, I have purchased from Flightline Engineering. I have his 1/48 B-29 super set. It was worth every penny. It is beautifully designed and perfectly cast. I wouldn't hesitate to do business with him again. Especially if he comes out with CF-100 detail parts in 1/48. Cameron
  11. Boy do I wish somebody other than Mastercasters would put out some sets for the 1/48 Hobbycraft kit. The Canuck needs some quarter scale love.
  12. The photoetched canopy frame is an interesting concept. But in execution...I've never seen it work, and the risk of damaging or destroying your clear parts in the process is very high. Glues that are strong enough to hold he photoetch down are extremely dangerous to clear parts...and glue that isn't dangerous to the clear parts are never strong enough to keep the photoetch down. I might put the etch frame in my scanner and use it to make a new adhesive vinyl piece on my Sizzix Eclips2 cutter and try that instead. Give you that 3d appearance without all the risk.
  13. I recently listened to a podcast interview of a former PAF F-6 pilot describing chasing two IAF Su-7s during the war and it gave me an itch to build one. So I guess that I'm trying to track down some period photos of IAF Su-7s during the 1971 war. I'm not particular about a specific airframe or unit as it isn't a subject that I know much, if anything, about. There are precious few english language books that I've been able to find on the 1971 War in general and almost none on the air war except for a couple written by former Pakistani Air Force pilots. An image search for IAF Su-7s on google is pretty thin as well. Tiny, blurry images that appear to have been taken well after the war. If somebody could point me in the direction of a good reference or two...I'd be appreciative. I've looked at buying the Aerofax Sukhoi Su-7 book...but at $75 I'm a little trigger shy unless it has some decent info on Indian Air Force aircraft. Alternatively a handful of decent period photos would go a long way. I've got the ability to make vinyl masks as well as an ALPS printer that I can use for custom decals so I've got no big fear there. Cameron
  14. I've managed to find a couple of RAL shades that pretty closely match the shades of the Cartograph IAF roundels. Using my Sizzix Eclips2 cutter I can draw up and cut some vinyl masks for the roundels and fin flash that should get me there. Now I just need to find some reference photos of IAF Su-7s during the 1971 Indo-Pakistan War. Thanks for all of the help guys! Cameron
  15. I don't post just to post. Unless I have a question or something to contribute...I tend to just keep my mouth shut and take it all in.
  16. I certainly would, if I could. Unfortunately you need 100 posts to be allowed to post there and I'm at about 50.
  17. You are correct...the specific aircraft they are representing in the kit did not have the tail flash or serials.
  18. It sounds like I'm up the proverbial creek here. I had that Academy kit and the decals were really only suitable for binning, but I still appreciate the offer. I guess I'll just have to wait until I can run down a set of Eduard decals from that limited edition Su-7 kit. The decals in it were printed by Cartograph so I know that they're the best you can get. I really appreciate everyone's feedback.
  19. Spectacular MiG Kumar. It motivates me to pick up my Mig-21FL project. Best wishes. Cameron
  20. Unfortunately it would seem that I'm too late for the Bright Spark decal sheet. According to his facebook page he reprinted it in April of 2019 and sold out in May of 2020 and does not plan to reprint the sheet. Thanks for the tips though! Cameron
  21. I've been trying to track down one of the Eduard 1/48 Su-7BMK kits without success. Primarily for the decal sheet with the Indian Air Force markings. Anyone know a good source for IAF roundels and fin flashes in 1/48? They'd be easy to paint with my mask cutter...except matching the colors. Thanks in advance! Cameron
  22. I hadn't noticed. I've got an 1/72 Revell F-16B along with a bunch of Isracast F-16I stuff that I was thinking about putting up on Ebay. Guess I should pay more attention.
  23. So am I correct to say that the Mark 5 would have been in NATO Green/NATO Black? Thanks again gents. Appreciate the help. Cameron
  24. Token yank here. I picked up a Takom Chieftain 5/5P and would like to build it up as a BOAR vehicle. I'm completely ignorant of the correct shade of green/black. Bronze green? NATO green? NATO Black or just a flat black? Thanks in advance. Cameron
