  1. nice pics there, looks like a very nice job Unfortunatly, due to work and family issues i haven't had a good chance to progress. Hoping to get a bit further this week but am on holiday the week after so it's going to be tight to finish!
  2. brilliant, thanks for the info!
  3. I have a slight issue of all the modelling skill of a handcuffed hyperactive monkey though! Do you happen to know what other UH-1's they did in the 1/72 scale? Would love to add another couple to this one
  4. Indeed it is basic, and very cheap! But as i am now finding out, cheap isn't always cheerful!!!
  5. well, having looked at the missing locator in the cockpit, it wasn't just flashed over. I ended up having to use a small drill to get a couple of pilot holes in place and then use mini files to create the rest of the hole. Had to go through about 2mm of plastic so not sure what happened when it was moudled! After some delicate strugling i have managed to remove the incorrectly facing 'joysticks' and have now re-fixed them into the correct position. No photo's tonight i'm affriad due to an open bottle of wine and a reclining chair!!
  6. so, first off the cockpit. Putting it together via the instructions and i came across the first 2 issues with the kit. Firstly, in the middle of the highlighted bit there should be a rectangular hole to locate the rest of the instruments however it's blatently missing. Secondly, it turns out that the instructions have the joysticks as being the wrong way around!! On test fitting the instrument panel i found this out much to my dismay. More updates tomorrow........
  7. So, first off, the obligitory box and sprue pics - So, the box and the sprue looked good to my minimal knowledge so i thought i would give it a crack. Well, how wrong could i have been.........
  8. This is me registering in with a 1/72 UH-1C Huey by Italeri. Pics and progress to follow on tomorrow.......
  9. Hi Guys, Just looking for some tips on using resin parts really. I've got a couple of resin figures to completment a GB model i am doing but have never used resin before. I'm mainly looking for things such as how to detach from the resin 'block', best glue to use, how to prep for painting. Thanks!
  10. Hi all, Could anyone recommend me a brush on primer? I use mainly Vallejo paints however am looking for a brush on primer for smaller parts Cheers!
  11. well an update on progress from me. Couple of days ago i fitted the cockpit shown above into the main fuselage..... A small session of gap filling later on that night and it was left there. Tonight, i fitted the wings into final position. Not too many alterations had to be made but the fit is a bit iffy in places, nothing major though. The worst part of the fit seems to be around the front of the undercarriage cover as demonstrated below - So, thus ends the last couple of days work. Overall, fairly happy with progress. I'm not to happy about a couple of the parts and i dont think my current skill levels will allow to much of a fix. Some of the seem fills i have already done using putty i may pull out and redo as i seem to have sanded too much off leaving a dent. In other places, some of the gaps are in places that look like they will be difficult to get into. If anyone has any tips on how to fix it would be most appreciated!
  12. Didn't think about a brown wash to be honest. How would i go about doing that?
  13. Well, this is one of 2 builds i am currently working on and these are the first proper ones i have ever done! Looking for some ongoing hints and tips really so please feel free to chip in with advice and areas of improvement! First of all, the box - Have spent what feels like ages building up the cockpit. have hand made the seatbelts from masking tape. I know they aren't accurate, but this is more of a skills test than anything else! Any comments gratefully recieved!
  14. Looking for a bit of advice here I've been using the Promodellers wash recently for the first time and on a couple of ocassions have had a little difficulty in removing all of the wash from some of the surfaces. Up till now i've been applying directly on top of Vajello paints. Should i be putting a coat of Klear over the top prior to the wash? If so, how can i make the klear coat matt? Thanks in advance!
  15. Excellent, many thanks for this! I have a couple of models i can give this a try on first just to get the hang so will see how i get on
