  5. Ah, GS Hypo is new to me !! Another required addition to my work kit !!
  6. Yes, I will definately be investing in a PE for this kit soon... not used one before, so questions about the prep... do you simply prime the sheet before use so you can then paint accordingly ?? Also, fixing the parts, do you use normal cement for attaching to the model ?? sorry for yet more basic questions.....
  7. Thanks Ross, appreciate.... I dont mind painting them if required, as only plan to have a handful dotted about for realism...... Any ideas on the right colour for the hull and decks anyone ???
  8. Returning to building a Warship for first time in years... Planning on purchasing the Airfix Type 45 1/350 and doing a waterline version..... Will probably be asking a lot of basic questions here as I proceed... but for starters Modern Royal Navy colours for the Daring.... what is the most popular colour people here use, in spray and tinlet format for both the hull and the deck colours ???? Also, where is best place to get modern Royal Navy figures to add, preferably pre painted??? Appreciate your help !!
  9. ok my friend, thanks anyway..... will keep my eyes peeled...
  10. Shar2, did you hear anymore about 1 1:350 Dido model you posted about last year ????
  11. Nice work Paul, I am considering building this.... What extras did you buy to enhance the kit, and from where.... My one, I would like to add a few scale figures on the deck to add some realism, anyone recommend the best modern figures, ready painted if poss, that would suit this ???????
  12. Thanks for help all....will bear these for future reference... but ended up ordering replacement parts from HobbyCo.Net, for a fiver........
  13. Thanks HL, will bear that site in mind for a future project, but for this was hoping for a cheaper alternative, not sure how good Taimiya are at sending spares out, I know Revell have been really good in the past.......
  14. ok.... I screwed up..... my tracks were being a nightmare to fit to my Tamiya Chieften, I broke a wheel and had to repair it, so I tried making them more flexible by dipping them in boiling water..... big mistake.... they are contorted and un-useable now..... Can anyone recommend where I can get a replacement set, or even upgrade to a set of links that will look even better ???? Appreciate your help
  15. ~Thanks Gents... price for the Heller kit probably too rich for me, and the fact taht Revell dont do etch kits for the model sways me towards Airfix... Lots of old versions available, but I take it there was updated mouldings for the kit relatively recently ????
  16. Considering on starting a HMS Victory but not sure wether to go for the Airfix version, especially with the new etches, or the Revell one?? Anyone got any recommendations, can you get etches for Revell, or are there any other manufacturers in some price range I could consider ? Lots of work involved so dont want to get half way through and wish I had bought different version... Thanks
  17. Thanks Gents, lot of work, took much longer than I thought, but well pleased in the end......
  18. And this was your first ever kit ??? Outstanding !!!
  19. Finally complete, my Revell Routemaster bus. Tribute to my late Father who drove this in the mid 70s, I got the signage made up for the Number 12 he used to drive regularly. Spent a lot of time getting the adverts right internally too, which surprisingly for Revell, arent included. Also, managed to get right scale passengers and modelled two of them for the crew (driver/conductor). Conductor was actually a Naval officer figure, but bit of modelling seems to have done the trick.. Model now mounted on wooden base courtesy of Just Bases with a silver plaque in memory of the great man.......
  20. Thanks for your suggestions gentlemen, much appreciated !!!!!!!
  21. My Revell Routemaster is nearing completion and I would like to buy a display stand to display it on... Can anyone recommend a good site where these can be ordered online ???? Ideally would like a small plaque that I could get engraved on it too as its a tribute to my late dear Father .... Appreciate
  22. Am in latter stages of my Revell Routemaster and am v pleased with how its turning out... However, one big remaining step is to glue all the transparencies in. I have never been happy with the way these have turned out in the past and have bought a tube of Canopy Glue (probably just PVC) to perform this... Anyone got any hints or tips to do this successfully ?? Not sure about spreading glue and waiting for it to get tacky before putting transparency in for example ??? Any help gratefully received before I screw it all up
