The Gift set lacks the sprue for the Overseas Lynx & has decals for HMS Gloucester 2011 Miss Behaving with RN logo & landing pad section. The decals lack much of the stencilling for the aircraft & weapons. The tail skid was fitted to some early Mk2 possibly denoting the Dual control aircraft but not on RN operational aircraft. The Army ones were fitted with them,no doubt because of there operation in rough terrain, some resent pictures show they have been removed.

Hi Colin Been through photos for that time ,I am sure I have one somewhere !! I have noted seeing it at Culdrose on airday in DSG with 815 NAS 301/PO 27 /07/91 & have shots of the two other MSG ones that where there & am sure I have one of 301. Will continue to look for you

Will look through photos from 91 see if I got one of it ,did it carry any special marking for the Royal occasion ? I assume it would have been MSG by this time. Looking forward to next weeks announcement !!!!! I have several Mk3/8 on the producion line with brass etch cockpit updates ,plus two 1/48 ones on the table now. Regards Len

I had the same problem, typed in Boulton Paul Sea Balliol on web & a page came up for the three remaining airframes , one of which is a cockpit section photographed from the rear ,appears to be cockpit green with black instrument panel.

Exactly what was the Sea Vixen designer on...?
Grizzly replied to Graeme's topic in Aircraft Cold War
My Dad was on the Development team for the Vixen ,it would have been Bill Hailey & the Comets Rock Around the Clock which he played all the time. It was me who made the blackboard paint comment ,after talking to Ex Navs at the 50th reunion of the Vixen at Yeovilton. -
That is the one in the FAAM in the Oxford Blue.finish. Len

Hi Neil The Merlin HM1 are Medium Sea Gray overall with Dark Sea Gray walkway areas on the upper airframe which are outlined in yellow/red dotted lines. Both main & rear blades are BS381C:641 Dark Green Gloss. The main blades have Aluminium leading edge as pre engraving on kit, tail blades have roundal red tips ,drive area is MSG. Intakes have red warning around them. Watch Modelart Decals for up coming sheets for them. Regards Len

XT870 012/R 892NAS was the last aircraft to leave Ark Royal sadly no longer here!! XV586 011/R 892NAS on the final cruise. Let,s hope she is fully restored to these markings for the museum ,to get one of the operational aircraft on show there,at long last -
You need to say which year? Black Trident ,then black wings added, followed by black checker board onto darksea gray fin rudder, they carried black N on fin top. Ark Royal had 12% ramp & larger rear gun sponson as she was fitted with Goalkeeper guns . If you scroll back these answers have already been given !!!

Clarification on some colours for Sea Vixen please?
Grizzly replied to Graeme's topic in Aircraft Cold War
On the Humbrol conversion chart steel gray 87 =XF25 Tamiya the airintakes are a cream colour but they were very soot covered in service. The nav hatch was delivered in clear class but this reflected down on the radar screen & the pull over blinds didnot cut out enough light so many where painted with blackboard paint which was in ready supply on board by the navigator ,so many patterns,ie all black. black with square centre clear. The most used was to mask a 2" around the outside & paint the rest black. These were all done on the inside class. Regards Len -
