  1. That's a very detailed Aires set & I'm amazed at the speed with which you're managing to get it all put together.
  2. Wow!!!!!!! I bought the Walrus at 180 Euro & that made my eyes water. Paying 500 odd Euros would have ended my marriage!! It looks absolutely fantastic..
  3. Hard to fault, you've made it look like one very serious warplane.
  4. Wow - amazing work on that engine, it actually looks like a miniature working engine. i've registered at Swanny's Models just to follow that build, No pressure.......
  5. Brave man! Really looking forward to this - like you, my research on a WIP with this stuff drew a complete blank.
  6. Good work - I can see it coming together nicely. Getting the terminals attached to the rigging in manner that looks convincing could be tricky mind......
  7. Indeed, but much as a stopped watch is correct twice a day, you must compare this single opinion with the multitude of differing opinions. The weight of opinions on Roden's DH.2 is that it is clearly inferior in every respect to WNW's offering and is one of Roden's less successful efforts. That's not to say that a determined and skillful builder can put together a fantastic build - I'm thinking in particular of Des's build on WW1aircraftmodels.com, still my favorite build - but the sheer weight of evidence that it's not a brilliant kit is pretty overwhelming. Add in the WNW DH.2 - which is just a beautiful model kit, the fabric effect on the cockpit walls is just stunning in itself - and anybody who builds the Roden version in preference to the WNW version is either short of cash or up for a challenge!
  8. That is good work. Love the weathering, very convincing late war look. Looks like a well used aeroplane. Excellent.
  9. That build took an awful lot of additional work & parts. It's possible to turn even the most useless kit into a great build with the right skills, patience & AM, but that is hardly a measure of the quality of the kit you started with.
  10. The Roden DH2 is dodgy. Buy the WNW version. At $65 delivered - marked as a gift by WNW - is stands a good chance of avoiding customs £40 gift limit.
  11. That is a fantastic build - the Revell is not the best 109 kit, but you'd not know from looking at that.
  12. Let us know how you get on, I've got the same pe rigging that I plan to use on an SE.5a build.
  13. They can be very realistic, BUT 2lb fishing wire is far, far easier to wrok with and very forgiving. Or even EZ line. You have to be so, so careful in measuring and cutting with Radub's PE rigging, then you have to ensure the alignment is spot on - especially with the flat wires. As mentioned, Des does some astounding WW1 builds on his site - the DH.2 build is a thing of beauty - so pop over there to find out how to rig with mono-filament in great detail.
  14. Like I've not got enough WW1 models in my stash already........
  15. Nice build - as mentioned, decals will look better if you gloss varnish beforehand, then matt varnish afterwards - or consider a Hobbydecal type dry transfer. Still, compared to the build it's an easy problem to solve!
  16. That's absurdly small - you must have fantastic eyesight!
  17. Lovely - you know immediately it's a Flora as soon as you see it, totally unique design. I've got the Planet Models 1/32 kit in my stash - if it builds half as good as yours I'll be happy.
  18. What a great looking little trio. The Fokker E.II makes the SE.5a & Triplane look a tad small - wing warping needed a big wing area and your models reflect that beautifully. Good work.
  19. Ordered the double box set - looks decent value, although Parcelfarce & HMRC may well jump all over it before slapping their 20% + £8 fee onto it. $65 individual kits should sneak under the £40 gift limit, so avoid the fees. I should have waited.....
  20. I see - does that mean you've been paid for this build?
  21. I must say that I prefer the Mustang A/B's they look more interesting than the later bubbletops. Any chance of a few more photo's?
