  1. Italeri has released some test shot photos and decal images of their new 1:32 scale CF-104 / F-104G boxing. It looks like an improved version of the Hasegawa kit. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.544555952283696.1073741837.454765391262753&type=1 There are multiple issues with the RCAF markings and the stencils appear to be genericized (so not accurate to the RCAF). Looks like it has both types of seats (covering both the CF-104 and F-104G) but the forward IP looks to be only the F-104G type. Canuck Models offers correct markings for this era and I have other Starfighter sets in the works. So if you're planning to build an RCAF version, you'll be covered. thanks David
  2. The wing leading edge tape has been applied to all aircraft since about the late 1980's. (I do have photos of early aircraft without that applied).
  3. Does anyone have any good photos of the Spey burner can's for the British Phantoms? I'm specifically looking for any good photos that show the actuator assemblies inside the exhaust area. Thanks David
  4. I have some spare 1:72 sets that were misprints but the top wing roundels are perfectly fine. If you're interested, let me know and I'll throw a set in the mail to you. thanks David
  5. Hi Neu. Thanks for using my decals on this project. I hope you don't mind if I chime in with a couple of notes. The Microscale sheet has the wrong leaf in the roundel. They have the silver leaf inside the roundel and on the flag which is incorrect for the symmetrical era markings. Symmetrical era markings used the 'new style' leaf as seen in my decal set. Unfortunately you've already used this on your build so I'm not sure how you'd correct that now. The Cougar head on their sheet is accurate for early 410 Sqn birds with the early style -A tails with the short ECM fairings. Something around a year after Canada received the CF-18, the ECM fairings were lengthened to what we have now and this required the reduction in size of the tail crests. Your kit has the long ECM's so you'd need the smaller Cougar head from my decal sheet. thanks again for using my decals on this project. Can't wait to see the final builds. thanks David
  6. Hello. Those folks waiting to purchase the 1:72 scale CF-101 Voodoo special scheme, the decals are back online for sale now. Those that purchased them earlier with the incorrect EF-101 roundels will get their correction sheet in the mail. Thanks David
  7. According to Aircraft Finish & Markings 1947 to 1968 by Patrick Martin, lower surface colour was Medium Sea Grey. Which is what I use for my builds and it looks correct. That said, if you're set on using 501-109, a Tamiya colour mixing recipe is; 5 PARTS TAMIYA XF-12 JN GREY 3 PARTS TAMIYA XF-02 GLOSS WHITE 1 PARTS TAMIYA XF-18 MEDIUM BLUE European based aircraft had a lot of weathering that effected this colour so adjust the ratio as you wish. Thanks David
  8. I'd thought about selling those mugs. I've had a few people asking me about them. [edit] If you really want one: http://www.zazzle.ca/canuck_model_products_11oz_coffee_mug-168096967969875809 thanks David
  9. Hi there. You should be aware that the Lynx special at the museum is a repaint. They painted the starboard side markings backwards. The original read Lynx Squadron (*) Canada. The repaint reads Canada (*) Lynx Squadron If you're doing the museum version, you'll have to cut and flip one of the decals. Hopefully those roundel replacements show up in the mail sometime soon so I can put those sets back up for sale. thanks David
  10. Edit... Apologies.. this should be in the 'modern' section.
  11. That would have been a great picture!. I'm assuming it was the same lobster zap graphic? Only smaller?
  12. Hi there. If I may; yes, white in the EF-101 roundel on my set got messed up and I've had a correction set ordered. I absolutely did know that the roundel was low vis and it was drawn that way in the source artwork But somewhere from the point of the original art creation and the sending to the printer, the white of the roundel found it's way back in. I was supposed to have had this correction set back from the printer last month. I really don't have a reason from them as to what the delay is. But, and I do understand that there's a bias to my opinion, I'm not the only one that has made silly mistakes. There are accuracy issues or errors with every decal sheet I've seen (without exception) for the voodoo in Canadian service. You sort of have to decide what you can live with. Thanks David
  13. Given that Argo is a complete work of fiction anyway, I'd think the spaceship model is the least of the films problems.
  14. As someone that has spent a considerable portion of his life nose deep in all things CF-105 Arrow, I have to say I'm very impressed with this build. Being able to wrestle that version of the Hobbycraft kit into something that resembles an Arrow is no small feat. It certainly looks like you've accounted for all the major problems with that version of the kit. In regards to the other various kits; - The 1:72 Astra vacu-formed kit is considered to be the most accurate Arrow kit available in any scale. - The Victoria Products vacu-formed kit is a very close second (they came out around the same time). - I'd rank the newly released Hobbycraft kit a close third. I did a complete review of that kit over on ARC last year ( http://s362974870.onlinehome.us/forums/air/index.php?showtopic=249877 ) Hobbycraft issued their 1:48 Arrow twice as well. The second boxing is more accurate (in every way). Their new 72 scale Arrow kit is pretty much a scaled down version of that one. For those that are interested, I offer 1:72 Arrow decals that correct all the issues with the kit supplied sheet and improves on the older AM sets as well. I have a 1:48 version in the works thanks David
  15. Hi everyone. I'm David Winter, owner of Canuck Model Products. I'd like to thank those that mentioned my website and business. I appreciate the recommendations. It's nice to hear that people like my work and products. To quote a beer commercial; I don't post here often, but when I do, I make sure it's a shameless plug I hope nobody minds, I'm not sure if this is counter to forum rules or not. thanks David
  16. From my FAQ; This is something I almost expect. It just seems very strange to me that there are no practical options for this variant of the F-4. And by practical I mean an in production injection molded kit. You can still find the 1:48 hasagawa kit here and there, but they're pretty pricey. thanks David
