  1. No way I can build a model that quickly! Very nice job, hope to see it at Expo this year.
  2. One other thing you can never have too many Spits built or in the stash.
  3. G'day, Well Done! If you like it then its a good model, ive built lots that im not happy with. Two tips that help me is; 1. work in the very best light conditions possible. 2. invest in the micro mesh polishing system for surface preparation. I prep my models with a fine buff / polish before painting (as if youre doing a NMF finish) then lightly buff between each coat of paint and before glossing. Cheers stephen
  4. The modelling world needs more flying boats - nicely done.
  5. I really like it! Very nice scheme, it looks great in RAF camo & a very tidy build. BTW - do you ever question the worth or the sanity of Eduard internal PE sets given whats visible when all said & done?
  6. Thanks, simple answer is dont use "full black" for anything other than highlights (or should that be low lights?) but numerous varying shades or really (really) dark grey that look black but arent if that makes sense.
  7. Needless to say count me in! I dont need an excuse to do a Malta subject! To date Ive completed & posted from my 1/48th Malta Air War Collection my: Albacore, Swordfish, Spitfire (why did I wait so long to build a Tamiya kit!), Wellington & Ju-88. Still to post my: SM-79 & Mc202. The hard parti s choising a subject. Needs to have a FAA flavour to also fit in with my local clubs "Waterwings" theme. So maybe a Fulmar might be the go. Cheers Stephen
  8. One worth looking out for is " Against All Odds" The RAAF pilots in the Battle for Malta , by Lex McAulay Cheers Stephen
  9. I like it a subject not often seen & done well.
  10. Hello All, This was my multi engined effort for last years comp season. Trumpeter kit with Eduard set (waste of money really as stuff all is visible) I added an alloy mainspar as I didnt trust the wing to fuselage join, also Quick boost gun barrels. Cheers Stephen
  11. Graham, Just want to say thankyou for your comments on this post. I enjoyed Steve Nichols book very much, but have to agree (based on my own research) with your statement concerning the exageration of the number of blue Malta Spits. Regards Stephen
  12. Looked at this earlier (while the pics were still up) just want to say lovely project & well done, Any chance of re-porting the pics?
  13. Very nice build & nice sublte paint job & level of weathering.I'd be happy if mine come out as well.
  14. Very nice builds & finished product - im inspired!
  15. Thanks for posting this I have the kit & this has been very helpful, look forward to the rest. Cheers stepehn
  16. Hi Doug, I'll have a crack at this (plenty of kit subjects in the stash to chose from). Just so ive got this straight, construction has to start in Sept and be completed by Dec 2nd? Cheers Stephen
  17. Thanks, I use thin coats of Humbrol gloss varnish (bottle version) but before varnishing I buff with a cloth to smooth / polish the surface.
  18. Thanks All for the kind comments. The models are all 1/48th, The high winger is a Stinston Reliant (gorgeous big luxurious aeroplane) from the AMT kit. the Gee Bee, Travelair & S6B are originally Hawk kits, buat are now available by Testors (the new kit decals work well). the mouldings are crude by todays standards and internal details zero, apart from the AMT Reliant which is actually got a nice level of detail. I'd be happy to be part of your interwar build, Im working on a Pitcairn AutoGyro at the moment, the old Williams Bros kit. cheers Stephen
  19. G'day, These are my non serious builds (read will never be in any sort of comp!), that form the start of my 1930's cvollection. Just a few old Hawk & AMT, Evil Bay cheapies that for the most part were intended as quickies between major projects. I really like the style of the aircraft of this era. Cheers Stephen
