  1. V.nice model, of a subject that deserves the recognition.
  2. Tidy build & finish of a great subject
  3. Thats different! I like them, do you have a Pitcairn Autogyro to keep them company?
  4. That amazing model started life as a SMER piece of crap? Incredible. For the sake of all 1/48th builders I think you should focus on 1/32nd Wing Nuts kits in future !
  5. Very nice build of a kit with certain "challenges" - lovely finishing.
  6. Thanks Luigi, the front part of the cowl /exhaust ring is actually a darker burnt iron colour on the model, the camera flash lighted it up in the photo. The rear of the exhaust ring was & is a brighter steel colour. Cheers Stephen
  7. That is one very tidy model! Nothing lihe interperating grainy B & W photos.Well done OzH, ive got Warburtons one on the to do list also. Cheers stephen
  8. VERY NICE! very tidy build, paint & decalling. Will you enter it in the Melb Comp in June?
  9. Nice Job, the P-38 is a challenge to get right, but your looks the part!
  10. Very tidy Spit! I like it. Best thing to come out of Canberra (Oz politician bull sh!t factory) in a long time!
  11. Who can resist a Spit with a hook? - Very tidy build & finish.
  12. Thanks All. I appreciate all the comments On the subject of the Trumpy, I also had both the CA & Trumpy SM-79 kits. After comparing both of them and doing some research on the net I determined (there is a good comparison review on Swanny's models, if I remember correctly) I flogged the Trumpy kit. The CA kit is more accurate in outline (cowl & tail surfaces) & detail overall. The Trumpy would be an easier build though. I think if you built both the differences between them might be apparent. Cheers Stephen
  13. This needs an award for just getting it finished, let alone for being done so well!
  14. SORRY - (DOH!) dont know how but this post has been duplicated. Please see the proper post for this model. Sorry Stephen
  15. G'day All, Well its another one from my Malta collection. Eduard & Part PE sets & scratchbuilt rear fuselage detail. Opened the bombay, sectioned upper bomb bay & added the structure, detailed the gondola, wheelwells. Now the hard part was deciding on a scheme, I had 4 interpretations of a B&W photo none of which agreed with each other. In the end went with my the one that I felt was closest in my opinion. I have to say that even with the challenges of limited run & the addeded details it was an enjoyable build (more so than the Wellington which is posted previously) Hope you enjoy. Cheers Stephen
  16. Cool aeroplane & very tidy build - I like it & must do one !
  17. thanks I'll dig it out! Now I need to unearh a "Pedestal" Sea Hurricane scheme!
  18. Now thats something you dont see everyday! - Very nice build & finish, love the panel effect & the prop.
  19. Well done Tony, very nice finish. How well did the MDC set fit the Italeri kit? wasnt it designed for the Hasegawa kit? You certainly made it look like they went well together!
  20. The MkI really is the prettiest of the Spits I think and yours is a very tidy build, very tidy paint job especially the cockpit details.
  21. Hi Tony , I based my model on my Malta Bible. Namely Malta George Cross, Victory in the Air, by Richard J Caruana. (BTW do you have a copy?) Its an absolute must have in my opinion. Anyway page 34 shows a line up of 249 Sqd Spits, EP829 , is shown 3rd from the front. They all have Volkes filters in that shot, also the small "T" isnt visible on that side of the aircraft. Page 37 shows EP829 undergoing servicing and a visble camo pattern is present, again in that photo. To my mind EP829, at this point in time was as modelled, however this isnt to say that this didnt change later on. (Page 34 of Malta GC also shows BR246 which almost certainly is in a "blue" scheme, it is describes an an early Spit.) I question if the larger photo on page 83 of the Osprey book is in fact EP829! One other point this phot shows an aircraft with a penant of some some just below and infront of the front windscreen, this penant is not present in my photo reference, this and the fact that no codes of any sort are visible. From: Malta George Cross, Victory in the Air, by Richard J Caruana In anycase you did a very nice job on your Spit, and I welcome the ongoing investigation. Cheers Stephen
  22. Ive never had the guts to attempt mine! You did a great job & excellent result. Did you re-scribe it? I need a beer every time I think of NMF, then I reach for a nice & easy FAA colour scheme.
