Wellsprop's Various Argentine Skyhawk Questions
wellsprop replied to wellsprop's topic in Aircraft Cold War
I'm guessing the NACA ducts are related to the J65 engine, so I assume they were on the A4-A too. @Tailspin Turtle are you able to help? -
CAD modelling and 3D printing an entire model aircraft is perfectly doable, @TheBaron and @Jamesmodels are our in-house experts! CAD is difficult and it takes a long time to be able to produce things at the quality these chaps do. It doesn't require a fancy PC (I'm running CAD on a 10 year old laptop that isn't anything special). 3D printing is quite tricky too, it takes a while to get used to it and it has it's limitations, but as those two threads will show you, some amazing things can be achieved! Wellsprop's Various Argentine Skyhawk Questions
wellsprop replied to wellsprop's topic in Aircraft Cold War
Hola Igna, Thanks for pointing out these NACA ducts, I had no idea they exist! They are perfectly easy to replicate and will be a feature on my duct update for the A-4. Are you able to confirm which variants they were on? A, B, C, P and Q? Cheers Ben -
Hi all, I managed to find a few rounded/domed silver adhesive gems (about 2.5mm in diameter) amongst the papercraft stuff my partner has. I found that, when removed and after having the adhesive peeled off, this make excellent landing lights. Unfortunately I cannot find another source for these. I went into hobbycraft and picked up these yesterday https://www.hobbycraft.co.uk/silver-adhesive-gems-148-pack/6557561000.html However, these are not quite right as they are geometric and not rounded/domed. Does anyone know where I can find what I am after? Cheers! Ben

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread, but.... I have the Hasegawa A-4E (and a Hasegawa A-4C) with the CAT4 resin nose and intakes. Unfortunately, the A-4B resin nose is approximately 1mm too short and too narrow to fit either the E or C, the intakes are similarly challenging. I'm currently working on my own conversion for the A-4C.

Hi all, With the imminent release of the Hasegawa 1/48 A-4C, I've decided to make a conversion to allow the kit to be converted into an A-4A or A-4B, by replacing the nose and instrument panel. Hasegawa A-4 A/B/C Intake Fan and Duct Upgrade - £10 + £2.50 (UK Postage) The update features a 2-part drop-in replacement for the Hasegawa part. The intake duct now includes the splitter (the internal splitter, aft of the cockpit tub - not the external splitter plate) and a separate (corrected) piece for the fan and guide vanes. The separate and corrected fan/vanes now more accurately represent the J65, with the 4 intake vanes and 75 fan blades. In addition, being a separate part allows the intake and fan to be painted separately, before assembly. Hasegawa A-4 E and Later Intake Fan and Duct Upgrade - £10 + £2.50 (UK Postage) Cheers Ben

Airfix 2024 Mystery release..>Could it be a 1.48 Jaguar??
wellsprop replied to Corvi's topic in The Rumourmonger
The Heller announcement only happened in the past month or so, if Airfix have been working on a 1/48 Jaguar, they would have started it at least a year ago. "something a little more complex or in 1/48th scale perhaps 12 to 14 months" https://uk.airfix.com/community/blog-and-news/workbench/designing-new-spitfire-airfix-style That's exactly what I was wondering - I wonder how far in advance distributors know exactly what Airfix will release? Almost as soon as the Airfix range was announced, Jadlam had it on their website. -
Airfix 2024 Mystery release..>Could it be a 1.48 Jaguar??
wellsprop replied to Corvi's topic in The Rumourmonger
At the risk of starting yet another random guesses thread.... A new tool 1/48 Jaguar is my best guess. As was apparent on the Airfix 2024 thread, lots of people (myself included) would like to see a new tool Jag. It fits in with their Cold War British jets, there's no competitor in the market (well, there wasn't until Heller decided to release the ancient tool - which simply won't compete with a new kit). In addition to this, it has loads of marking options AND export customers (I'm sure the average punter would overlook any differences between the British and export versions). Possible boxings/marking options; RAF RAF wraparound green/grey camo RAF two-tone grey with a fancy-coloured tail RAF pink, Op Granby RAF snowy Non-British/Export French green/grey Indian grey Omani sand/brown A new tool 1/48 Airfix Jaguar would become the Jaguar kit to have and the old Heller kit would become long forgotten (just as has happened with the old Airfix Buccaneer, Classic Airframes Gannet and Hasegawa Sea King). I have my finger crossed! -
Impressive stuff!
