If it's any consolation, I hated it too (graduated BEng Mech + Management in 2003)

I'm a chemist and maths was very hard for me. fortunately now if the maths gets too difficult, I can get someone else to do it for me!

  11. So after a few month's break, I am back modelling. WiP soon!

  12. So I decided to get up early and take a long cycle through from the city out to the Mendip hills and back. However, after leaving a main road out of Bristol, I hit some ice and my plans came to a sudden halt. Ouch.

      MikeW

I'll have to lend you my copy of "Basic Cycling". It clearly states - avoid ice!

Sorry your day was cut short.

Haha yes, over optimism about weather conditions I think!

  13. Just watched Deutschland 83... I know it's only a drama so it must be taken with a pinch of salt; I never knew jsut how bad things got even in the 80's, guessed I missed a big bit of modern history being born in the mid 90's. Quite thankful we aren't about to get nuked though. No politics please....

I was a student in West Germany in 1983-84. There was a lot of controversy concerning the stationing of Pershing missiles.

    3. Ascoteer

      Ascoteer

What one easily forgets, however, is that Pershing and Cruise were direct reactions to the Soviets deploying the SS20.

As TV drama I quite enjoyed it with the German language adding to the realism. I'm reminded of comments at the time that Western intelligence agencies believed West German intelligence had been comprehensively penetrated by GDR agents hence a reluctance to share information.

  14. Been sat in uni for 6 and a half hours doing mesh refinement on my CFD wing and finally I'm getting some converging results!

  15. I'm still here chaps! Second year Aerospace Engineering is all a bit tricky you see ;) I'll take some hq pics of K5054 when I get home for xmas, hopefully I'll get another model done then too.

Have a great time at university. I did - so good I did it twice!

  18. Strange day... I cycled to the location of yesterday's Spitfire excavation, nothing there now, but I met the landowner had a good old chat with him and saw some Spit bits that he had in the back of his car from the dig!

  19. Tour de Normandie so far. Cycled to Pegasus Bridge, Ranvillle Cemetery, Merville Battery, Le Grand Bunker and Juno Centre. Very interesting to be in such a tranquil place were so many young guys my age lost their lives...

  20. I'm still here folks! Haven't had internet for over a week and now I'm sat on a Ferry to Caen ahead of a D-Day cycle tour. Don't miss me too much ;)
