  1. Hi comrades! The build is resurrected! I made soldered "spider" from old photo-etch to represent the structure visible through the glass but omitted by Valom. Then, clear parts was installed (gunner cockpit glazing was VERY "interesting"), model was primed, painted and the decals (most pleasant part of the kit) on place Next- weathering and undercarriage Thanks for looking!
  2. Thank You! Before the war, Buffaloes were maintained in "close to the new" state, so only very light weathering was done
  3. Hi comrades! Here is my yellow wing Buffalo. The build is here Main improvements: Scratch built half of cockpit floor, main undercarriage and aft-engine structure and wiring. Rivets. Some wiring on undercarriage legs and cockpit. Used aftermarket: Eduard's brass and canopy masks. Yellow-wings and Starfighter decals. Thanks to all the help I received for my questions! Hope, You enjoy Thanks for looking
  4. Hi comrades! Wiring added to main gear legs. Small tubes added as gun nozzles in the wings. Navigation lights done from lengthened clear sprues. Yellow wing and Starfighter decals are simply excellent! Sorry, pitot tube forgotten...I'll add it before final photo-session See You in RFI section with more photos' Thanks for looking
  5. Hi comrades! Painted. Next-lacquer, decals, panel wash and oil dots Thanks for looking
  6. Thank You! Anyway, I haven't decals for the pilot names((. No black trim for fuselage band. ...and, probably, I will not use the "E"-symbol decals for VF-3 plane.
  7. Hi comrades! My F2A-2 build arrived the painting stage. The color chevrons on the wings are black trimmed (At least white, yellow, red, green), fuselage band is without black border, cowling is without border. My Prototype shall be VF-3, 3-F-1, No 1405 with full red cowling. Any comment on this? The Yellow-wings decals provided the white "E" for this aircraft, but I can't find the references for any use of white "E" on VF-3 planes, only on VF-2. Any info on this? Here is example, Green striped "13" from Saratoga, VF-3
  8. Totally agree! I'll paint it blue (same shade as rudder and national insignia) with white stripe. Thank You so much!
  9. Great! Thank You! Any corrections to Special Hobby painting guide (other than blue spinner with white strip)? Is the pattern of white areas correct?
  10. Hi comrades! My build of Classic Airframes kit is approaching the painting stage And now, my question is: how the prop was painted? In different references (mainly profiles, so I'm not really sure about them) the prop is painted different: solid black, black with thin white line, red and white, blue with white line... Which one is true for start of 1943 when BW-393 had temporary winter camouflage? Thanks a lot for help!
  11. Thank You! I believe, its because much higher skills of Finnish pilots (because they were experienced fighters after the Winter War with Soviets). American, British and Dutch pilots were brave, but unexperienced. Also the maintenance capabilities at Far East depots was inferior... And Japanese pilots and planes were far superior to Soviets. .It's just my understanding, IMHO
  12. Hi comrades! Engine (Quickboost replacement) wired, panted, weathered and installed Then, the assembly completed and last re-scribing/riveting done. Next step-primer and eliminating imperfections... Thanks for looking
  13. Hi comrades! Engine (Quickboost intended for Tamiya) was slightly altered and some detailing added. Everything assembled and riveted. Pilot seat altered to be closer to Finland modification with proper seatbelts (Luftwaffe style). Some details were added to prop After enough dry-fitting, the final amount of putty was minor Now we are ready for primer Thanks for looking
  14. Hi comrades! Now, the Classic Airframes Buffalo's main assembly completed. When I saw the kit instructions, I understand that my skills are insufficient to assemble the fuselage as recommended. So, I altered the order of assembly: 1) fuselage interior assembly completed (main instrument panel and pedals will be installed later) 2) fuselage halves joined, but glued only in tail and up sides! The join lines were sanded and rescribed. 3) Main instrument panel and pedals installed 4) Fuselage (still "opened" from bottom) joined with the wing 5) Engine firewall installed to "close" the forward part of the fuselage ("trenches" inside of fuselage halves were prepared before to make alignment simpler) 6) Now it's time to glue all remaining fuselage joints and wing to fuselage. All lines sanded, panel lines rescribed. 7) Rivets added Next - Quickboost engine wiring and assembly. Seat OOB (bottom one) looks wrong for me, so I will modify the basic seat of F2A-2 with "armor" back and headrest+ additional seatbelts Thanks for looking
  15. Hi comrades! Interior finished with Eduard's brass. Everything painted and weathered. Fuselage assembly and main assembly completed, rivets added. Canopy, forward cowling and horizontal tail surfaces in dry fit stage so far. Next stage - Quickboost engine wiring and painting Thanks for looking
  16. Hi comrades! Fuselage riveted, after engine compartment "stuffed", some wiring and oxygen bottle added in the cockpit. Next - fuselage assembly and wing-to fuselage join. Pilot seat will be corrected. Thanks for looking
  17. Hi, comrades! Fuselage riveted, oil tank (?) added, part of engine framing installed. Most of the effort I put on the Classic Airframes kit - see parallel thread. Thanks for looking
  18. Hi comrades! Assembling, scratch additions (not so extensive like in Tamiya). All painted and weathered. Classic Airframes is in grey plastic. Next - engine support and fuselage riveting Thanks for looking!
  19. Hi comrades! Lot's of scratch build (styrene, Evergreen rods, brass and wires). All painted and weathered. Tamiya - silver colored plastic Next - engine support and fuselage re-scribing/riveting Thanks for looking
