Have you tried Bare-metal foil? https://www.bare-metal.com/bare-metal-foil.html Self adhesive and as thin as kitchen foil. Think Hannants & Modellingtools sell it and probably a few more

I use Tamiya masking sheets for larger masks on a portrait cutter and for smaller masks just apply some Tamiya tape direct to the back of the cutting matt and position your cuts on to that.
Works for me 😀

Yes, I use Microscale Set and Sol with them works just fine.

I find one of these quite useful https://www.amazon.co.uk/Molotow-Grafx-Masking-Liquid-Marker/dp/B00FVPXAM4

I would just get a bog standard 5V phone charger that can "supply" 1A. It should far exceed your needs.
This would be perfect for standard LEDs however its 5v so wont supply the 9v or more required for your disco LED but still good as a starting point for simple circuits
Ive found an online LED resistor calculator that you might find useful. https://ohmslawcalculator.com/led-resistor-calculator
Did you say that your orange LEDs are in groups of 7 (7x20mA)? if so with 3.3v x 140mA = 0.462watts, in LED terms thats going to be super bright, so probably no need to go anywhere near full power with them so that will help reduce the power requirement.
-
Very true but, relevant when trying to assess a power supply requirement as getting one too small will be overloaded.
-
Thanks, does it say how many mA they draw?
-
The 450mA supply I mentioned was an example, What you actually need would depend on your application. Whats the current of the LEDs you will use have you got a link to them?
-
Its not just the voltage its also how much current the supply can provide. If your disco LED needs 9v to operate then you could run your other LEDs from the same supply just need a higher value resistor.
Add up the current required by all the LEDs and add maybe 50% so your power suppy is not Running at max.
As an example if you have say 30 LEDs at 10mA that is 300mA so you should look for a minimum of 450mA for your power supply.

Perhaps you're already aware of this, but you can use a solderless breadboard to ensure your circuit works exactly as you need, from initial experimentation to final mock-up.
Thats a good idea, its a good investment to learn more circuits on in the future.

2 options for adding the red & green :-
you could have them both share the same resistor(still needs to be calculated) or each on their own resistors.

I'm also planning to add an RGB disco type LED - only the one
Now it gets complex as you will need a controller circuit for that!
-
So you want to do something like this for your orange LEDs? I've not included the red & green LEDs just yet.
-
What figures did you use to get to 330ohm? (Foreword voltage and current of the LEDs)
Your red & green LEDs could be connected in parallel to your 5v supply along with another separate current limiting resistor. Or you could add them in parallel to your existing LEDs with the same 330ohm resistor.
-
I use one of these. Might be cheaper in Hobbycraft or The Range.

Get a UV glue pen and allow it to form a blob, once your happy with the shape, shine the UV light on it.
Here's an extract from a P51 build I did, of course the colouring is optional
Punch some 1mm discs out of self adhesive aluminium tape and fix them in the light recesses
Tiny drop of Tamiya clear colour in each light
Followed by a drop of UV cure glue to make the lens.

Slow and laggardly work going on, crew names are on and a few other decals, ejection warnings and only a couple of stencils. Need more work drawing (typing) some of the stencils for this, I think I will only do a few prominent ones, just need to decide which ones as they seem to be a little different on some photos over the years.
Ive noticed that the aerials have gone walk about, the top fuselage one lost years ago and the lower one last seen on the 8th Jan post, I suspect the carpet monster!
So Ive knocked up a few replacement, on the the new (well actually had it nearly a year) toy, an Elegoo Mars.
I'm not really up to speed for anything useful on Fusion CAD just yet so I'm using the nice simple Tinker CAD for the moment until I learn more. I've done two types of antenna, straight one and a tapered one, think their use will not be just limited to this build. I'll fit them toward the end of the build.
Hopefully I'll get more out of the printer in the future.
Stencils next

I'm not sure if you are planning on building building AR501 in her current condition or not, but here's a few photo's if they are any help - AR501
Thats Brilliant thank you, going to do it in its present marking, those pics are really useful. 👍

On that final flight, the pilots swapped aircraft, so the regular Vampire pilot was in the Meteor that day.
Thanks for that info, think what I will do is put all 4 names on it, and probably the same when I do the Meteor eventually.

Bit more of a quick update 'Keep off, areas done.
Crew names & stencils next i think,

Oops minor error with the shape of the above intake decals,
Corrected version is on the right. both now corrected, now a happy CT

A little more progress with the decals tonight, I've redrawn the Keep off areas from those on the Airfix decal sheet to something that more represents those on XH304.
Ive changed the shape slightly on some, changed the text font and size and of course they are now black.
Here is XX304
And the changes
I'll get them printed soon, just have a black cartridge that keeps blocking to sort out first.

So I can put Spitfire exhausts on my Meteor?
Would look like a menacing meatbox. Think he meant the RR Meteor engine a derivative of the Merlin for AFVs

Going to be a nice build!
