  1. Just a quick update on my progress. Finished the cockpit and about to close up the fuselage halves.
  2. Hello Everyone, I'd like to join with an Israeli Mustang with code 01.
  3. Another Update, wings are on. Paint booth is not too far away., now Looks like I'll be using this option on the decal sheet.
  4. Just a progress update Going to close up and get the wings on.
  5. Hello All, I would like to join..... I'm going to contribute an Academy Typhoon (1/72) and use one of the marking from Xtradecal 72179 - a three blader and short cord tail. Here what I have for now.
  6. Here's my contribution to the gallery. Airfix Spitfire Vb Decals are from the new Airfix Vb kit (I guess it's a case of old meets new....)
  7. It's Done!! (At least, I'm calling it done.) Couple of things... 1) Prop is incorrect for McNair's aircraft. 2) Gun port tapes are missing.
  8. Yes, decals are on.... Will get this one into the Gallery later this week. Thanks for the check in. Moe
  9. Just a quick update... Camo is on. Weathering is next then decals. I'm going to be using the new Airfix Vb decals for "Buck" McNair. The "Locally Mixed grey" looks more green in the pics. (Could be my lighting) I used Steve Budd's mixing ratio from Airfix Model World Aug. 2014
  10. @Ventora3300 - here's some pics of with wings on. I glued the fuselage from tail to front in two sections. Tail to cockpit, where the joints end at the rear canopy and wings attached. Waited a day, finished gluing from canopy to front. Because I was building the spit with the trop. filter, I attached the filter to the fuselage halves then attached the two fuselage halves. I attached the upper wings to the fuselage, so that I can get a less of a joint to deal with and then attache the lower wing to the model. I don't know if the dihedral is correct.
  11. Just a quick update: No seat belts. Might put them in later. This kit also has the warped fuselage that someone has mentioned. I'm going to glue from back to front.
  12. Hello Everyone, I would like to join this GB. But, not sure if my kit(s) qualify. I bought these two kits at a swap meet and it came in many pieces. Some of the pieces are painted and the spinner on one kit is glued and puttied. I think it's with in the 25% rule, but would like confirmation before proceeding. Have not decided on markings, considering using the new Airfix Vb decals (GN * H) Thanks Moe
  13. Hello All, I would like to join with a Monogram Typhoon 1/48. I'm considering doing in flight. Thanks Moe
  14. Canadian Tiger is done. Enjoy. Comments are always welcome. Markings are What If. Thank you to the GB host.
  15. Hello Everyone, She's done!!! This is a "What If" Fun build. I free handed the black stripes.
  16. Just a quick update everyone. All pieces are together. Off to the paint booth soon.
  17. Thanks everyone for the kind words. Yeh, any British aircraft in German livery looks strange. But, always an interesting project. How about German ac in British livery, like a BF109 or FW 190. Would like to do those.
  18. @Tempestwulf I didn't have much problems with the wing root on the Typhoon, because I didn't follow the exact instructions. I attached the wheel well, which included most of the cockpit, onto the lower wing and then attached the fuselage. Some one here on BritModeller has done it that way also. I still have a very slight step, but it was good enough for me. If you do it this way, I would suggest that you don't attach the joy stick until you're finished with all your painting. In my case, I had the cockpit done according to instruction, and had to break off the joy stick to get the fuselage to fit around the cockpit structure. (I hope you get what I mean. I should have take pictures of this when I was doing it. My build picture shows the joy stick in place before I tried this method. I have four more these Typhoons in the stash, so I can better perfect this approach.) Would like to do a What If in desert camo. Best of luck with your (Typhoon) project. Moe PS. I've been trying to find the post where I read this approach but have come up empty handed. I'll keep looking and update this post when/if I find it.
  19. Airfix Spitfire Ia 1/72 Airfix Typhoon 1/72 Thanks for looking. Comments/Critiques are always welcome. Happy Modeling in 2018
  20. Hello All, I'd like to join. Always fun to build a Matchbox kit. My CF-104 will be a Canadian Starfighter in Tiger Meet livery. I'm going to use a Hasegawa F-104 decal sheet because it has the tiger head for one of the Meets. The code will not be accurate. I bought the kit at a swap meet and it came is two wing tanks from an ESCI kit. (The original kit does not come with wing tanks.) So, I'm good to go. Here's a shot of the sprues, wing tanks and decals.
  21. Airfix Spitfire IIa, OOB. A toast to Edgar!!! THANK YOU
  22. Here's my completed Spit. I made some changes to the final painting of the camo. I "erased" what I did before and tried some real scribbling. I like this method, I just have to learn how much to thin the scribbled colours so they stand out more. Comments are welcome. All I have to say about the kits is FANTASTIC!! What a fun build!
  23. Can any one comment who have built the Airfix kit. I'm about to put the wing walk decals on, but I concern that they might fall into the panel lines. (I don't mean this in a bad way...) Has any one had any success with putting the decals on? TIA Moe
  24. Another update just before the end of the GB. It's going to be close for me. The gloss cost just went on. I'm hoping to get the decals on tomorrow....
  25. Hey Stew, I read about this technique in Airfix Model World (Aug. 2014 & Mar. 2015). Steve Budd, built an Airfix Spitfire Mk Vb, I and Hurricane using this weathering technique. The picture of the Mk Vb shows the technique quite nicely. I too was intrigued with this technique when I first saw it. It look quite nice and it was within my grasp with my skills with the airbrush. Just load (thinned) paint and scribble!!! == * as noted below. The three videos that I posted show a different technique. I am removing the videos out of respect to Steve (the author of the articles in AMW) in that I have reference an incorrect technique to what I'm trying to describe. ** as a further note, the technique that I have shown and started with this spitfire is a blend of he scribbling and colour basing. (I can't call it black basing, since I didn't start with a black base.) I will try (true) scribbling on my next build. I would still encourage people to give it a try and read the articles that Steve have published. I am really intrigued by the results of this technique. == Give it a try!! Moe
