  1. Few more pictures. It was a bit too empty so I've filled it up
  2. thanks a lot all... really useful information I've ordered kits world decals and for now I think I have everything to make a gulf war bird! In fact, the only thing that i'm missing are the lgb, I'll go for Reskit ones
  3. Hi, someone told me that these are bad, that only nose arts are OK and everything else is inaccurate. I believe that, but is it really for all GR.1, is there any Gr.1 that can be used from these decals. What exactly is inaccurate and what is the alternative for pink Gulf war Tornado? one more q - why do kits world decals for those gulf war pink tornados state that they are gr4 and on the net the information is that they are gr1? Thanks a lot sorry I've posted this earlier in the wrong subforum
  4. Hi everybody, here are few pictures of Tamiya tomcat with Kazan detail sets (spine set + wing box set) that is intended for Hasegawa kits. There are few tips that those who decide to use this set with Tamiya might find useful. First of all, this is one of the best sets I've seen so far. The dedication to quality is visible on almost every aspect of this set -from details, quality of casting, engineering to instructions. I can see a lot of love put in it. Since Tamiya kit has two part upper fuse, whilst Hasegawa has one part, you need to take steps in a specific order if you would like to make yourself a job easier. That is firstly due to the fact that if you cut off the panel of front fuselage part, there will be nothing to hold left and right part of the fuselage if you don't secure it somehow, and I'll try to explain what is the best method in my opinion. The fit to Tamiya is so far very good. The pe frame of the spine is just a little bit wider than panel lines on Tamiya. I suggest that you freely cut along the panel lines, and after dry fit, you can easily sand the edges to make the hole a bit larger - but keep in mind that this might not be necessary because it depends on the technique you are using to cut the panel line - so dry fit is a must. If you cut along the panel lines and sand them a bit, if necessary, the frame will drop in perfectly. The only place that you shouldn't cut on the panel line is the panel at the very end of the spine, that I've marked with a red circle on one of the pictures, since the frame there is shorter for about 1.5 mm than tamiya panel. I might be wrong about some things, but here are some conclusions that I came to while building the kit so far. This is my opinion about the order of steps: 1. First cut all the panel lines in the rear part of the fuselage 2. Then cut about 1/2 or even more of the panels on the front part of the fuselage, you need to leave some since this is the only thing that keeps the front part of the fuselage together 3. Than cut panels on the intakes, install resin 4. Then make cuts on the panels (if you are using wing box set also) that should be removed to install wing box, but do not cut them completely because you need them to keep the two parts of the fuselage together. 5. Only then glue together the front and rear part of the fuselage 6. Then cut the rest of the panels that were holding together a front part of the fuselage, since it is held now by the rear part. You might consider to temporarily fix the front and rear part of the fuselage additionally with styrene stripes 8. after that you should install the resin parts of the spine completely. 9. Only now cut the panels that should be removed for the wing box. You can, and probably should, prior to cutting these panels, additionally fix the spine with epoxy resin or something since resin spine will be the only thing that will now keep your fuselage parts together, till now they were held together by the parts that should now be removed to install wing box. The idea is to cut and prepare everything as much as possible before gluing together fuselage halves since they will be held together with a rather small area of plastic, so any pressure that you will use to cut or sand, after you glue them together, might result in breaking these two parts. So it is best to do most of the job before gluing them together. For now, I don't see any major issues with fitting this set into Tamiya. I was very glad when I found that out. Spine set by itself is pretty much straightforward build. Thanks for reading/watching, here are some progress pictures:
  5. Thanks! I dont have exact ratios, but from what I remember you need to add large amount of H313 andH11 white, medium amount of yellow H329, and just a drop or two of this red brown H47 thanks! I did the tires with pigmented wash, mostly using AK dust and earth effects. For tire tread (part of the tire that comes in contact with the road) i used AK dust effect. I've put one drop of dust effect on every square of the tread and left it to dry. Regards!
  6. Hello, well, I've started this project 6 years ago, and since today my last work on this model was 4 years ago. I didn't post any pictures, so I'll start with the older ones. I've modified the suspension and adjusted it to terrain (it is fixed on the kit); scratched IBIS tek tow bar, front bumper, crystal resin windows, duke box in the rear of the cabin, antennas, cables, front sensor; added CROWS system (there wasn't a version with crows at that time) and lot of few other things I hope you like it. Regards, Marko
  7. Andy that is a major help for me. These info's are essential for me cause I can now proceed with everything else that was only waiting to glue the wings! Thanks!
  8. Hi Andy, thanks for the pic, I've already did these details, but I need info for those two next to the aileron and flap (one round and one square), can't figure out exactly what is there. I've found a lot of reference for other things from Jamies link So, if you can maybe have a look, I would be very grateful. Thanks
  9. Hello, can anyone say or show what is beneath these two hatches on first image (square and round). It is time to join the wings, but it is on hold only because of this. Included is the picture of one model I saw a few years ago on Mossonmagyrovar show that had these panels opened, but I think that these might be fictional since the details beneath those oblong covers one the same model are incorrect. Thank you, Marko
  10. Hi, here are some new progress pictures. Thanks!
  11. Just a small update, I've managed to blend it in
  12. Since everything is drawn, I don't see why he couldn't etche some more. but you will have to ask him about that, I can give you his email, just drop me a pm
  13. Thanks all! and hi again Here are some pictures of the opened panels that will be on one wing. I've decided to make some things out of pe, so I've asked my friend for help. I've explained him what I would like to have, gave him basic dimensions and he did all other work - drawing, adjusting and etching. It looks very nice. Thank and regards, Marko
  14. Yeah, this bothers me to, seen it on few pictures. but it won't be the turn-off for me. I think that the layer of thin Mr. surfacer along the panel line with brush would solve the problem easily. Once dried the panel line will still be visible, but not as deep/wide. Removing excess surfacer with cloth and mr. color thinner should go at the end. So, no using sanding paper in order to preserve details around. I think it should work, but still amount of work I would like to pass... More turn off for me is the price + shipping I've already sent email to blackmikemodels with inquiry
  15. Thank you all, glad you like it Ade, there is no secret I used valleyo acrylic paint, a bit thinned, and I've put about two to three layers, each one after the previous was dried.
  16. Hello everyone, here are some new progress pictures. I've used Eduard brassin set, but with replacement barrels from master model and also I've used Baracuda ammo chutes, since I've found them to be nicer (there is really no need to buy extra chutes, but I had these from before because at first I didn't plan to use eduard set. However it is huge improvement. I will paint barrels at the end. Bye for now!
  17. Hello, and thanks! I'm really glad you remember, I did hang around on ARC a lot, while I was younger and when I was less keeper and more builder Reagrding the wood - it was painted with oil pant. Here are some progress fo wood painting: Cheers!
  18. thanks, I plan to add a wing, but only one, vertically positioned beside the plane
  19. Thank you, glad you like it! I will maybe finishe one wing and put it beside it
  20. Hi, here are pictures of Horten 229 in 1/48 scale. Well, it is not in fact finished, I still need to do some cleaning and add bits and fix some parts. I didn't still add hatches and brakes, since I had an accident with one brake and one hatch leg, so need to fix it. Upper part is glued but only on some points and very lightly, so it can be removed. Inner areas are completely engraved since it came with no details. those wooden planks at the back are scrathcbuilt. Hope you like it, cheers, Marko
  21. Hi, here are some new photos of current status. Thanks for watching, bye!
  22. Hi all, I've scrathed the radiators. One will be mounted, and the other won't. Now, the radiator area is in the progress. I would suggest the DVD "The Mosquito Explored" from Flyingzone publications, without it I wouldn't go into this. This is just a base for futher work. Now the fun part goes Cheers!
