The drooping section of the nose is not symmetrical when joined...one side sticks out about 4mm wider than the side of the fuselage., also the edge where the visor sits is bent on one side. The nose cone also has two deep gouges running almost the length of it, which may have been due to an air bubble during moulding? Both of these issues are fixable, but I have still emailed Revell to see if replacement parts are still available, which I somehow doubt.

Marvellous! Many thanks.

Possibly, but would not do the Air France version, having read of your experience with the Air France decals! I fancy doing a BA Landor version with wheels down next time, possibly also with the Brengun detailing set...............however I am running way ahead of myself here, since I'm nowhere finishing my current version yet...........and then there's all the other stuff in the stash that I am desperate to start!

That's interesting. When I go to this website, which I found through Google shopping: https://www.onbuy.com/gb/aircraft-and-spacecraft/heller-172-gift-set-concorde~c9682~p5123669/?exta=gshp&gclid=CjwKCAiA0uLgBRABEiwAecFnkyOp5R_LZM1yQNl0L0MCzUaIqvWdV6t6iRLY-O4RKS8FcwGJkZt1iBoCMkgQAvD_BwE It says there are 7 available via Creative Models and you can go all the way through to checkout, although I haven't done that myself.

I would love to see some more high def pictures of the undersides of fuselage, wings and engines, together with the top view of the fuselage if you are able to get any high shots please.
-
I see that Creative Models currently have 7 Heller 1/72 Concorde gift sets, priced at £49.99 each with free postage.

I see what you mean. Definitely a small step, though, on mine. I joined the upper wing surface to the fuselage before I joined the upper and lower wing halves together. That way I think I've ended up with a pretty good wing to fuselage joint. The step won't be a problem when I glue the two wing halves together - I'll just pack it out a bit with some thin styrene sheet and then fill the resultant joint................and yes, I agree it's big!
-
Can I ask a question about the leading edge of the wing please.......? When joining the upper and lower leading edges of the wings, the lower edge naturally wants to sit within the upper edge, such that there is a step down from the leading edge to the lower wing surface (when the kit is upside down). Should these two edges be flush i.e. level with each other in reality? If so I'll need to pack something between the two wings that will prevent the the lower wing from sitting too low. So far I haven't found any photos that show how this joint is in real life. The photo below should help illustrate the joint I'm talking about (nothing glued yet in the photo) Thanks in anticipation.

Hi neilg, as you may recall I'd sent emails to Braz models enquiring as to what (if anything) they have planned for the front end of the 1/72 Concorde. Despite follow-ups I've had no response at all so I think I'm going to have abandon that plan (and Braz Models!) and use the kit parts, although I may have to write to that nice Mr Revell and request some replacements due to warpage and mis-moulds. In the meantime I've been working steadily on the fuselage and wings...."steadily" being the operative word due to numerous interruptions at the moment. I will post up some progress photos asap. Where did you get your 1/72 Concorde from? There are just a few very expensive examples on ebay, and what livery will you be doing it in this time?
-
That Concorde program is being repeated in the UK on BBC 4 HD on Tuesday 18 December at 2.35am. Its also available on BBC 4 HD On Demand. I didn't catch it first time around so I've downloaded it to watch later.
-
I've had no response at all from Braz models to my two emails asking what plans, if any, they have for this kit. Is it just me....has anyone else had any responses to enquiries from Braz models?
-
Most certainly is....thanks! Other interesting Concorde stuff there too, including a video of the nose droop process.
-
I've only used the instrument panel decals so far but the rest of the sheet looks superb. The BA livery decals on the Revell A380 I did recently were also brilliant and went down extremely well, especially considering how big some of them were and the curves they needed to conform to.
-
I'm not sure this kit will ever be discontinued.....it just gets rested for a while then passed on. It'll probably be Italeri's turn next!
-
Phew!
-
The kit fuselage is definitely egg-shaped in cross section when the two halves are joined....don't know if that's representative of the real thing?
-
As the man said.... I've started so I'll finish! Somewhere amongst this jumble of twisted and mis-moulded plastic a beautiful Concorde is just waiting to escape!
-
Many thanks, neilg, that is very helpful. On with the sanding then!.
-
Whilst I'm awaiting a response from Braz models about what (if anything) they have planned for the front end of the 1/72 Concorde (no response at all as yet), I shall press on with the kit as far as I can. In readiness for that, can anyone advise, please, whether this slightly raised feature that runs along the length of the bottom of the tail section either side of the seam, as seen in the image below, exists on the real Concorde or is it just one more kit issue to deal with? Thanks in anticipation.
-
Concur with neilg - Revell has nose hinge mechanism moulded in clear. All parts then moulded in white plastic other than undercarriage (silver) and engines (black). Wheels are rubber.

The faults I have with my cockpit section are: The "droop" section of the nose is about 4mm wider than the front fuselage on one side. The nose cone has some strange curved "gouges" on its dorsal surface.... I doubt very much they are meant to be panel lines! Also the profile of the nose cone does not match the droop section to which it joins. The section of the fuselage halves that meet above the inner canopy do not meet at a sharp point....looks like a slight mis-mold. The two sides of the droop section do not butt together vertically, resulting in "trenches" in the dorsal and ventral seams . The inner canopy doesn't fit in the forward fuselage very well. Even without the above issues, the kit seems to have been designed with large gaps around where the droop section meets the rest of the front fuselage. None of the above issues are insurmountable with a bit of effort, but if Braz models are intending to release some better parts I am happy to wait and see what they intend to come up with. As I say, I have sent them an email enquiring about their plans. If they have no plans in the near future then I shall invest in that trowel!
-
Thanks for that, Picard. I have just dropped brazmodels an email to ask them what plans they may have for this kit and, assuming that they are intending to release something, how soon that might be.
-
This is very interesting to know, thanks, especially having just attempted a dry fitting of all the front end bits only to discover various warpages, mismoulds and significant seams to deal with. Call me a coward but I am half tempted to wait and see what "Mr Braz" comes up with. Is there any more information on this on the interweb anywhere please? Also, I'm not familiar with "Mr Braz" .....does "he" have a website anywhere you can direct me to in order to find out more? Thanks in anticipation.

Hi Ian, it will be purely oob, other than filler of course! As a fairly recent returnee to modelling my "skills" are nowhere near developed enough to contemplate corrections!
