This is turning out very nicely! I must build an Eindecker again some day...

Opel GT, Revell 1/32 scale. Build time about 18,5 hours, spread out over the four GB days. The build thread is here.

The chassis/interior quickly joined the bodyshell, then the wheels where aligned and glued with epoxy. A bit of force applied to keep alignment while the glue cured. Weight applied to the tyres and paint touch up. The detail here is best forgotten... The wipers weren't planned and I paid for that in struggle, probably half the assembly time here and it's still a little mess. Probably matching the windscreen... Front end finished. And the rear end finished with the exhaust tips. If I would ever build one of these again I would reshape the bottom of the rear panel a lot, but the time would have gone out of control here... And the antenna was last. Here we are, it's done! Here seen in the orange version of the black cutting mat... 18:30 hours, or something like that. I'm happy with that and the result; I thought it was a crazy idea within 24 hours and four days at first. Thank you all for a great Blitzenbuild experience and for all encouragements! I went back to the bench at around 3 o'clock. I realized that midnight will come before I have used 24 hours however I turn things around, but it should be OK. I painted flat black inside the bodyshell. Steering wheel fitted to dashboard. Then the dashboard is fitted to the interior. With the floor half way up the doors there is little room for the drivers legs... Time for the decals. Again the decals are excellent to work with. I choose the classic Dutch plates as I quite like their look. What remains now is final assembly. I found some photo etched wipers I hope I can adapt. 15:35 hours used.

Maybe it's fighting you, but it still looks good from here.

Rear end details were painted, an antenna made and hole for it drilled. Front end details were also painted. Panel lines were filled in with a dark brown mix. I just couldn't use the windows in one piece due to their fit. I cut off the windscreen. The fit is still not good and it's far too narrow, but it's too curved to use a flat material easily and time will run out. I tacked it in place with CA. Then I filled in the gaps with Kristal Kleer. It will not be good but at least better. The new rear screen cut from clear sheet makes me happier. New side windows were also cut from clear sheet, tacked with CA and sealed in with Kristal Kleer. Time for a late lunch, and once again the cardboard is not working, it's now PM. 13:25 hours used.

Not an early start today, and I forgot to take that photo with the clock when I started, but about half an hour in the foil work was finished. Now the time consuming detail painting starts. I started with the black for all window edges inside and outside. I usually do this with enamel but I don't have the time here as I need to fit windows and finish today, so I resorted to Lifecolor acrylic. The rear lights have been coated with a Molotov chrome pen and I have filled the somewhat clumsy fitting of the rear bumpers against the body with Kristal Kleer, so I can paint a black line later. Then I took a coffee break and forgot to take a photo of the clock. Oh well, the total was now about 10:05 hours used. Back at the workbench here and detail painting will continue.

R2-D2 & C-3PO, Bandai 1/12 scale. Build time about 22 hours in 2x12, including some food and drinks. The build thread is here.

Real people can be a very difficult thing. It's easier in styrene or resin or something. But now we´re talking real progress!

Absolutely hilarious! The perfect Christmas build!

I've now sprayed some flat varnish where I felt things needed further toning down. The masking is now off as I'm thinking this is it. I declare this finished! It's not exactly the scene at Tatooine and there are mistakes and things that can be done better, but for something done in less than 24 hours during Christmas I'm more than satisfied! It's been great fun, and thanks for all encouragements! I must now try to finish the Opel GT before the deadline... Link to the gallery

Given an hour the epoxy hardened OK. There were still gaps under C-3PO's foots, so I poured a little sand around, tucked in and applied small amounts of thinned wooden glue, then used the hairdryer. When that seemed good and dry the edge of the base was masked for the work remaining. Then a round in the spray boot to spray some "sand dust", randomly all over and more concentrated near the ground and on the ground. I don't really know what I'm doing... Not that much left, but a little drying time is needed. Another glass of wine, now Shiraz, and more chocolate felt appropriate. If I don't create a stupid disaster next I'm going to make this with time to spare...

I put another session in this one while the other clock is still rolling... First the small decals for the wheels and the dashboard. Very well printed and both fit and behaved nicely. Then a start on the foil work. Not the most fun work in the world, but it must be done. I did the front and rear bumpers and the door handles. More foil work remains but I'm stopping this session after an hour. 8:50 hours used.
