  1. Ouch, that's a though problem to face the last day... I hope you can make what surgery the figure needs to fit on the bike, they both look so nice that they just have to end up together. The trick of cutting out the spokes works well, I see rotating wheels at high speed on every picture.
  2. Good to see more completed builds turning up the last day. Well done.
  3. This is so beautiful. Just look at that photo of the engine and all the variations in colour tones on different materials and different surfaces. Wonderful job, really nice to see it completed.
  4. Yes, two days of course, I can't count that far sometimes...
  5. I was just about to write and ask how this was coming along with a day left, I really want to see it finished, when this update appeared. This is awesome Will, so good looking!
  6. Yes, at last we get the 787B in here, that's great! Awesome car.
  7. That came together real nice in the end, and your modifications really suits and improves the look of the bike. Great number plate! I thought the air filter looked a bit bulky at first, but once it is all now painted up it blended in nicely. Well done.
  8. Thanks. I tend to only use automotive 2K clear for car bodies. To get it satin I add a matting agent from Graupner, which is of course not meant for this paint, but has worked fine on the occasions I have used it. It's a few years since I did it last time, probably my 40CV record car, so I will have to do some tests again of the mixing ratio before spraying the body.
  9. Various distraction from modelling setting in, as they often do this time of the year when the awful winter is ending, but at last the black base is on. I will have to give it a thin coat of gloss clear to accept the decals, then satin clear to finish. A bit annoying as the paint right now is exactly the finish I want in the end.
  10. Good to see this one completed after all the painting troubles. Well done to get going again and see it through.
  11. What a finish, that's looking really nice. At the beginning of the assembly I thought the engine looked quite small when it came into the frame, but that effect is not as prominent now that it's fully assembled. Nicely added details. Hoping to hear about success in tomorrows show.
  12. I've been getting some detail painting and minor assembly done. This is probably all I will do with the interior, apart from sides that are cast with the body shell. The wheels got some texting done after hand written chalk notes seen on photos from the race. I had to print the small red and white BBS logos. Hopefully the body will be sprayed black during the weekend.
  13. Looks great with that base, really good. Well done.
  14. That's good to hear, hope everything continues in the right direction.
  15. The decals do look quite a bit more orange than I had expected. But that's just what it is, an expectation. The very few colour photos I remember seeing over the years of this car from the race are certainly not easy to judge colour from, just look at the photo on the top of this thread. BTW, I always tend to disregard photos of restored race cars years after the event, too many are sadly not accurately restored. Maybe the red should be quite bright after all? Also it may tone down once on the painted body. And indeed it was a big difference that coat of primer did.
  16. Wonderful choices, I'm all with you guys on wanted lists like those. Releases like these would certainly lead to several bike kits being added to my stash.
  17. Today I managed to get the last parts preparation done and all resin parts got sprayed with primer. That shows there are a few tiny pinholes and marks left to fix, but they will easily be filled before final sanding.
  18. It's interesting to read about the various decal problems. I will first say that I have no doubt these are accurately described. I have to this date built eleven of their 1/24th kits from various points in their production history (not the Dauer Porsche in question though) and all my decals have been well printed, gone down nicely over complex surfaces and adhered very well. Many were Calligraphe, possibly others as well. I can't recall any problems right now. I wonder if my experiences are because I'm just about always working with decal softeners and a hairdryer as default? Probably is.
  19. Their kits are usually of good quality both in terms of the kit itself and in terms of shape/accuracy. The open high detail kits can be a little more tricky and even have some shortcomings (opinion based on their early full detail -69 GT40 kit). I have only good experience of their customer service. A year or two ago I bought, second hand and unstarted from a seller in Japan, their first 1/24 kit, the Mazda 727b # 55, the one that came in the wooden box. It must be about 20 years old today, and had horribly yellowed window vac forms. LMM was contacted and they didn't have any vac form on the shelf, but a few weeks later they had taken time to produce a few new ones for me, didn't cost much. They have also supplied separate parts on other occasions.
  20. Now that's some seriously quick progress. I like the exhausts. I wouldn't worry too much about that paint demarkation line. I doubt I would even have noticed it if you hadn't drawn that blue line...
  21. Good to see progress on this one again. Hope the paint will work out well this time. Looking forward to see the result.
  22. Lovely paint and detail work. I like the exhaust painted like this. I hope the tank will sort itself out, now that the pipe probably can't be smoked to solve problems anymore... That rubber boot would probably be easily sorted with some internal support I guess. It's always a potential problem with these rubber/PVC parts in kits, I much prefer fixed plastic/resin/metal parts and a fully static model.
  23. This is coming along very nicely. Loosing that balance pipe is a good idea aestethically. I'm not sure I would add any heat bandaging, to me it quickly turns the look to racing, which is a look I personally like very much, but this bike look more custom than racing to me. But then again, I can't say that I have very much knowledge of how this klnd of bike would look IRL. Go with what you like.
  24. Yes, exactly those, with a "wooden base" printed on the back. I beleive the colour of the box are different on all the cars. I quite like the idea of this build, this old very simple little kit, nicely painted up, perhaps with som small detail added and the decals printed. Could be brillant mounted on a little base. Wonderful idea.
  25. Excellent subjcet choise - and quite a surprising kit . That kit got me thinking as I recognised the sprue layout, but not the packaging and JET promotion. After digging in some om my boxes I found them. The same series as Warren linked, were also issued in small, differently coloured, paper boxes, probably some years before the bagged JET promotions. I have four different boxes laying around here as I had to buy the lot of four on ebay many years ago, although I only wanted the 1899 Renault. I remember the seller had more of them. They are labeled "HP" and "RepLicars", made in England, sole distributors: Harbutt's Plasticine ltd, Bathampton, Bath, but unfortunately no year anywhere. Will be interesting to see how this little thing turns out.
