  1. Thanks a lot for your kind support guys! I have no idea how the creators come up with their names, I have wondered myself many times, but they are very much focusing on the Japanese home audience and it probably works there. How do I fit in a life? Well, I think that doing all this varying stuff is an important thing that makes me wanting to fit in that life. Or; this is life, at least an important part of it. Without it the rest doesn't work. I thinned out the flare a lot, it's now scaringly thin in places, but it slips down in place fine now. The skirt had two large mounting blobs for the two steel flaps hanging down the front. I removed all traces of them so I can place those flaps correctly without any interference when time comes. It's all meant to fit something like this.
  2. Thanks! I sanded down all the misery from the first primer coat and then applied a second. It's definitely better than I dared hope for now, but it will still take at least one more round. Unfortunately I now ran out of the Alclad primer chosen for this, and only with the best of luck I will have received a new batch before the weekend.
  3. Thanks guys. Yes, that's a long jousting lance. There's two different right arms in the kit depending which you want to build; holding lance or helmet.
  4. Well, I can assure you that the language was of the kind that is not allowed on the forum, so I thought it was best to and find a cure... I got an envelope full of weld beads today.
  5. A new build looking like 1/48 but labelled 1/72. Seems to be another master piece in the making. Will be interesting to follow. I have given up on the green mats, they always bulge like yours but worse. I think it's due to the layers reacting differently to temperature, my green mats die when the warm spring sun hits the window above them.
  6. Thanks guys, I hope you won't be disappointed. Would be great to see another figure build Dave! I've made a start and as usual I begin with the legs. They are nicely moulded and there's not that much to clean up, but nevertheless it took an hour each due to all the fine detail. But with that done I could soon do some dry fitting and small adjustments of the fit. And then start using some glue. This I can fit permanently and still have good spraying access. The skirt wouldn't fit first as the resin was far too thick inside. It took quite some trimming with the Dremel to make slip down in position. The problem is the same here; I need to remove a lot on the inside to get the main torso part to slip down over the skirt. But now I had already cleaned the work bench so that will be a job for tomorrow, I hope.
  7. I can send a full resolution version from the RFI-thread if one of you want to do the same job on that, might be better to work with. I'd love to see the result as this looks awesome.
  8. As my excursion in using Alclad Candy to paint Psylocke's suit went quite well I feel confident enough to start this steel dressed beauty. She's called "Celia Cumani Aintree" and is a character from an animee called "Walkure Romanze". As usual I don't know much more about her, she just ended up in my stash as I like her knight inspired steel outfit and that she look rather confident in it. She's 1/8 scale and about 19 cm tall. The blue skirt in the supplied instruction photo looks nice and contrasting, but as I'm not terribly concerned about accuracy to the original character I'm considering flattening the pleats to make the skirt too in steel with some gold/brass trim. It seems more fitting, but we'll see as I go on. She can be built either posing with her helmet or a holding a 25 cm long jousting lance. I haven't decided yet, but I'm leaning towards the helmet. Here are all the parts. I will try painting her outfit mainly in Alclad, probably steel as a base and some toning with darker and brighter Alclad shades. There's also a lot of engraved detail and sharp edges that could respond well to some dark washing.
  9. I realised it would probably be a good idea to get some layer of paint on before the weld beam decals. I've never had good experience of applying decals directly onto the plastic. And that leads to that porthole masking. I tried my first idea which was to cut 3/4-circles of Ø6/Ø12 for the Ø8 mm windows, then wrap them around the edge first before pushing the inside down and sealing off with the Ø6 left over piece. It worked surprisingly well. I plan to cut out the red circles from the kit porthole decals and then add a thin black wash line inside of it, so hopefully I will have a margin of error to make the edges clean. In fact it might have worked too well and I don't like repetitive work so I got over confident and before too long there was a "pop" and inside went a window... After a little while I managed to retrieve it, but they are designed to be fitted from the inside in their slightly conical holes. I cleaned up the piece but it was impossible to squeeze it back in and place it level at the right height. In the end I sanded down the edge slightly to make it on the small side and managed to hang it in place with some tape so I could apply CA from the outside and then clean it up. I hope there won't be any noticeable difference. With that out of the way I sprayed a first coat of primer. This will take both two and three rounds of primer and sanding as a number of ghost marks showed up and also the seam line between the hull halves and my filling of the bottom holes require more work. I will have to order more primer.
  10. Wow, you've given her life! That's brilliant! I love that!
  11. Many thanks! I may do some minor adjustments later; I have been thinking of letting a bit of her nail polish show through the energy and possibly some alteration down her wrist, but I will let her sink in for while now. I have now added some photos in the RFI-section here, I hope you enjoy her.
  12. Here she is; Psylocke, with one of her psychic weapons of mental power. It took some trials and testing to figure out the painting and my plans and ideas changed a bit during the build, but I'm very happy it all took the path it did. A good example of how discussions during a WIP thread can benefit and bring the build along. Thanks to everyone who supported and brought their thoughts and ideas forward. She would have looked different without it and I feel more excited about this version than what probably would have been. I hope you enjoy her.
  13. Thanks a lot for all kind words, I'm quite overwhelmed. But it's also a good kit to use as a base. I have more R4's in different versions coming sooner or later.
  14. Good rework there, well done! You do sleep a lot better after such an adventure.
  15. Many thanks for the kind comments. I also fitted her head and sash parts yesterday. Today I sneaked in some touch ups and minor adjustments, but I think I have now reached the point where I don't dare doing anything more for the fear of making it worse... So, here she is; There will be more of her in the RFI section when I have taken some more pitcures.
  16. Thanks guys. I think this is quite close, at least fairly well reminiscent of the look I want; a bit ghostly and a bit like it's drawn and coloured in the comics. There is a slight more hint of pink on top of her fingers that isn't picked up on that photo. The idea of adding some sort of streaks down the wrist might be a good idea. I'll look more at her tomorrow and see how it feels. It's finally time to fix her to the base. A small amount of epoxy into the holes and it all still fits as intended. Not much left to do now.
  17. There's not much contact surface to use for pinning him to the base. I decided to start to drill into the heel bones and see how good that becomes. It ended up like this. The fit is quite good. He actually stands pretty secure with this. Perhaps it will be enough if completed with some tiny glue drops under a few toes.
  18. Thank you so much for all the praise guys. It was a bit of a reveal when I unmasked her, but I hadn't expected quite that. Will; that sounds like a great idea, I look forward to see what you do with her. Doug; I can recommend that very much. When I took up doing these figures I was at a point of stalling a bit in my modelling, but they have now added new dimensions and improved my work on all other subjects as well. Go for it. So, now it's done and there's no turning back. You're welcome to be the judge...
  19. Many thanks guys. I have finished painting the sash and also blended the sword in her grip with Kristal Klear. Now all will dry overnight and we'll see if I can squeeze some time in during the day tomorrow to spray some more white and pink. My "real" job is as some sort of engineering/drawing consultant in my own business. I do various technical CAD-drawings and 3D-modelling for a few companies, and also some odd ball development projects that stumbles my way. I have my office at home, do just about all work from there and can usually very much plan my own time, as long as I don't always make the same choice of course. Can be a bit of a roller coaster, but it's the best way I have ever worked.
  20. A true work of art! Good to see on of my favourite aircraft's built this well. Fantastic.
  21. Lovely work Nigel, and an interesting subject. I wonder what the benefits would be that made some think that this design was the right thing to do under the circumstances... The paint looks great too, good to see it all went well through the work.
  22. There is certainly a good portion of Slash too in this fellow, good call. I have an idea for the left hand, but I will have to wait for some detail to arrive before I can proceed as I decided not to scratch it. I need to sort out the pinning to the base next.
