Not a terribly early morning but still dark.
Sanding time.
After a bit of effort I have a smooth flat surface ready for a new round.
Off to the hopefully last round in the spray boot.

Very nice progress on this one, Jorgen, and that's a great feast as well

Thanks, I can say that after that dinner I wasn't in shape to do much else than sit there for a good while...

No fear blitzing - great stuff.
Not much to loose, just go for it.

The shape of the thing is actually much better then I first thought.

Bodyshell with the first round of orange sprayed. All went well so far. The surface is rough but I'm treating it as a primer more or less. This will be sanded and then a few smoother coats with more retarder added will be sprayed, then polishing. Hopefully it will work.
All parts to be sprayed black are finished.
Pinned for spraying.
And all black.
I think this is it for today. Some Christmas dinner is soon up. 5:20 hours used (if I count correctly).

Back at the bench 17:35 PM. Time for some filler.
Filler applied to the rear end.
The front piece is cleaned up and test fitted. The lower section is supposed to be a smooth integral body piece...
Oh well, a little more shaping and filler then. 2K filler is my friend...
While at it I drilled out the spotlights to fit separate 3,5 mm lenses. I want to cut out all the mesh and replace it with photo etch, but I'm steering clear of that...
Mmm, Zinfandel...
Filler sanded. Probably not a perfect shape, but it should create a descent impression. I could also thin down the bumper to a more correct shape.
The rear end is also ready. It still feels a bit flat and heavy but I pretend I don't see that.
Test fit of windows, interior and chassis. The windows are not impressive and the fit is iffy, especially the rear window with oversized cut outs for the tabs. I also want door windows. If time permits I may cut new from sheet material. If not it is what it is...
The whole bodyshell is sanded with 1200 grit and I'm off into the spray boot for a first round of orange. 3:55 hours used.

Started with a quick setup to see if there is a chance to make it look ok. There is. @JamesP As you say the tyres are a loose and sloppy fit.
All parts are off the sprues, time to clean up a lot of flash and mould lines.
It's slowly getting somewhere.
The rear end has two strange cuts that don't look right. I glued in some Evergreen strips. This will need some filler also. My priorities are perhaps not right for a blitzbuild...
Chassis, interior tub and most of the body cleaned up and rescribing done. Need to sort out the front and rear ends next.
2:15 hours used. Off for a coffee break.

Well I'll be damned, but there is nothing to lose. I found an orange paint that will dry fast and that can be polished. Let's give it try. It'll be the "Great Escape", spread out until the end of the GB. We'll see what there's time for, R2-D2 & C-3PO will be the priority.
The kit is very simple and quite crude; the tools are from 1970 as I understand it. There are very few parts, which is ideal here. This is a 2016 issue; I think I got it as a prize at a model show some years ago.
The mould lines are horrible and the shape is little so so, but it is still recognizable for what it is, the lovely little Opel GT. This will some need cleaning up...
The decals are far better than the rest.
Well, I'd better get this going then...

I learned enough to go and get another bottle.
That is usually the best research

I haven't started yet, probably will tomorrow morning, trying for 1x24 or 2x12, got to aim high... if failing I should still be able to scrape it together before the 27th is over... I'm considering what base to use. I would prefer the same type I have used for my other figures, here with just a plain sand base on top. I hope to fit them both on the smaller 15 cm one.
I also need to find a working solution on the clock thing. I refuse to see the mobile phone on my bench at a time like this, I don't really like it.

Nice project, I've always liked the sleek Fokker Eindecker's.

A brave project to do a car in 24 hours! But I've seen you do it before. I chickened out on that, I was fingering on an Opel GT but thought I'd never manage the paint. Maybe next time.

Hmm, Tamiya 1/24 Alpines are an interesting choice of weapon for achieving world dominance
Although that said I am hoping you don't have any immenent plans for them what with the rally version being next up on my bench. I really don't need the competition!!!
Ha! There are also 8 Alpine A442 and 13 R5T kits in that corner of the shelf, that will form a strong position!
You will have little problem finishing your current A110 before I'm seriously back into that corner of the stash though... unless I retire very soon...

I thought a diorama like this might be slightly overwhelming in 24 hours, but now that I see the liquid tools stashed up I think it will all be very smooth work

Good choice. It looks like you don't even have to paint them!
Thanks. All the colours seems to be there and well represented, the plating on C-3PO is almost too good, Hopefully just some tiny detail painting, and some washing and such to tone down the clean toy like finish. Sounds easy at least...

First Blitzenbuild for me. I've seen them, quite like the idea, but always forgot or something, but now it's the time, at last. I'll admit I only remembered it this morning, so I had to raid the stash for something that could be done with a descent finish in 24 hours, yet prove relaxing, enjoyable and preferably out of my main subjects.
With some candidates rejected these two friends came up; R2-D2 & C-3PO from Bandai. They have been collecting dust in the stash since released in 2015 or something like that. Time to change that.
They´re lovely characters and these are kits where I could cheat out of much (time consuming) painting. I hope to get away with some detail painting and washing. Quite a lot of parts, but hopefully the building should be straight forward. We'll see.
Me and Mrs are celebrating Christmas more or less alone as usual, a choice we made quite some years ago to get out of as much stress as possible. We still welcome and enjoy the occasional guests during these days, but it shouldn't be difficult to squeeze 24 hours of modelling in.
What format is another question? Superhero, Sidekick or Great Escape? We'll see, there's still plenty of time to decide...

2022 has been a bit of a strange year. I have somehow felt I didn't get that much modelling done, with work, house and 1/1 scale cars taking time, but now that I look back at the year it seems building models occupied more time than I thought...
First out was this 1970 Porsche 911T of the Swedish traffic police "LTG". The base kit is Fujimi's 1/24 scale '69 911S with wheels, brakes and seats from a Fujimi 356C. All special police details are old school scratch building, I printed my own decals and I got good help from the Swedish Police Museum with some reference photos and facts. WIP - RFI
I have a soft spot for the Renault Estafette and have stashed up a pile of the new 1/24 scale Heller kits. This 1973 version is the first I built, pretty much OOB to see how it went together, which it does very well. The Banania decals are from MotoBitz. WIP - RFI
Back to my beloved resin medium and the Moynet LM 75 from Le Mans 24h 1975, 1/24 scale from Profil 24 in France. I added a bit of detailing around the engine and rear window, otherwise it's more or less OOB. WIP- RFI
Next is still resin but 1/72 scale and a boat; the Swedish MTB T14, ex Italian MAS 524. I failed to finish it in the 2021 GB "Anything but injection moulded", but this summer I put it back on the bench and wrapped it up. The kit is from Choroszy Modelbud in Poland with lots of parts and detail and it proved to be real challenge needing a good deal of scratching and modifications. WIP- RFI
More Le Mans 24h, now from 1968 and the turbine powered Howmet TX, chassis #GTP1. Again a 1/24 scale resin kit from Profil 24. This was also a bit of a challenge to build, needing some cutting and hacking of some parts that seemed indecisive if they wanted to become #GTP1 or #GTP2. I added a bit of plumbing and wiring, some decals also had to be redrawn and printed to fit according to reference photos. Still it was an enjoyable build. WIP- RFI
Then it was the Bond Bug, 1/24 scale resin from Airtrax in Finland. It's not a full kit, it needed tyres and a number of detail parts to be added. I choose to draw most detail and suspension parts I needed in 3D and have them printed and my friend Johan Brusefält drew the Exacton rear wheels and the tyres in 3D. I also drew and printed all decals. After some interesting discussions here on BM on license plates and tax discs I chose to finish the model as one of the cars seen in the original sales brochure. WIP-RFI
More 1/24 scale resin, now from USCP in Ukraine, the iconic Citroën SM. It's a very well made kit, but still I did a few tweaks; the wheels, tyres and steering wheel are 3D printed from CAD-work by me and Johan Brusefält. I printed the license plate decals to place the car in the hands of some proud classic car enthusiast in the Kyiv region of Ukraine, as it seems most fitting today. Slava Ukraini! WIP-RFI
Yet more of the same; 1/24 scale resin, here a kit from the mid 90's by Q Models in Japan. This is the BRE prepared Hino Contessa 1300 Coupé, finished as a test car from 1967, rather than the more commonly seen race cars of the 1966 season. Apart from a few details, and the 3D-printed tyres (the kit's original soft tyre mouldings where all melted in their bag) it's built OOB. WIP - RFI
That sums up my 2022. I thought I would finish one more, but its paint will need drying time into 2023...
With that I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2023!
Edit: I managed to sneak in two more builds this year, thanks to the Christmas Blitzenbuild GB:
R2-D2 & C-3PO, Bandai 1/12 scale. WIP - RFI
Opel GT, Revell 1/32 scale. WIP - RFI

I thought I was bad when I had 12 Tamiya Escort Cosworths - that's down to 4 unbuilt now. Wish I still had the other 8 as I sold them for about a quarter of what they're worth now...!!
I will try to keep mine; I plan on world dominance in the end...

I'm afraid so, the sad thing is that the stock shelves aren't limited to that...
