  1. I fiddled with this kit in the summer on one of my ‘in the motorhome builds’. The undercarriage has to be put in early which is quite problematic. The kit yellow paint left a lot to be desired. Look forward to seeing your progress 😊
  2. Marvinneko, might I suggest using human hair for rigging. It worked well for me on a 1/72 DH 18 I built during lockdown (couldn’t find my fishing line as had just moved into my girlfriend’s house). On another biplane build, a cereal box kit with a 1 1/2 inch wingspan I used some of the girlfriend’s hair as it is finer.
  3. Jockney, excellent choice. Should be an interesting build
  4. Outraged Adrian, I fear I will have similar ‘shake& bake’ buildability with my Faller Fieseler Storch. At 1/100 scale the kit is a bit small to put much filler on, but at least the extensive wheel struts will look like a forest of trees. Looking forward to your build mate The other Adrian 😊
  5. In the 1980s a friend had a Citroen Diane, crappier version on the 2CV. He took no prisoners when driving it. One time a new Aero Audi tried to overtake us at a junction. My friend Richard gave him almost, but not quite, enough room. The resultant bash dented the Diane’s front wheelarch but exploded the Audi’s front tyre on the wrecked wheel and deep damage to the front wing from the traffic light. Richard calmly got out, put his boot on the front tyre and pulled the wheelarch straight. The Audi driver was in tears as it was new that week. Richard said “let’s call it quits (re-insurance as Audi’s fault). The chap agreed so we drove off - somewhat amused 😊
  6. Angus, sorry to hear your decals didn’t turn up. I hope you don’t feel too bitter 😊
  7. Mr Lemur has got to win the prize already for the most exciting take on a blitz build - ANTICI—-PATION !! (To quote Frankie from the Rocky Horror Show) 😊
  8. All three could be done in yellow as seen at bases such as Trenton. I once had some lovely photos of scrapped Bolingbrookes - think now lost.
  9. Well at least you weren’t needing it for a transplant! 😊
  10. Marvinneko, just go ahead and do it. You know you’ll have fun, like you did in Peru, as you lived to tell the tale 😊
  11. My intention is to build the Fire Engine. It was released into the world in 1964 and so was I 😊
  12. My advice for fast drying paint is airbrush Gunze Acrylic with 30% paint to 70% isopropyl alcohol. dries instantly. My first ever 'blitzbuild' thirty years ago was a 1/72 Henschel 126 with Black green/dark green covered in disruptive sand colour. the underside light blue. decals on finished in 12 hours.
  13. Keith, maybe look at who is building what and fill in the blanks. You have a nice selection to choose from. I will only be doing one as it is in the summer (when usually I’m out cycling). Probably a kit released in 1964 😊
  14. Rob, Your excellent build has certainly inspired me. For 2024 I will try and build some kits released in 1964 - when I was ;-). I will be looking at your build for inspiration. Am picking up a kit tomorrow 🙂
  15. Excellent Alan, glad you are inspired to pick it up again. I will take mine out of the display cabinet and put the Stickleback and Yagi aerials on it 😊
  16. Hi Mig Eater, thanks for the kind offer but I think I will go with my original idea of painting decals. It will fit in with a few of my other very old models that have the national markings recessed into the plastic as a painting guide ! Cheers Adrian
  17. Alan, this looks like your last post on the build. Did you finish it? If not it would be good to get it off the shelf and continue- you have already done a lot of excellent work 😊
  18. Thanks for the suggestion Marklo. However, I deal a lot with very old decals and had minimal success reviving them with Microscale etc. Scanning them would require removing the distinct orange hue of the carrier film. In the circumstances I think my option of new decals/paint will produce the most pleasing result 🙂
  19. Am casually looking at this GB although as it is in the summer will only do one. I bought the SRN I in the re-release and as I have already done the SRN 4 (build done on BM) could play with the smaller hovercraft. Interestingly they later put a skirt on it so could do that 😊
  20. I have finally found my muse for the Blitzbuild. Was considering adding a Matchbox B17 nose to a Meng B24 'egg plane' for a conversion that was actually done, but thought that might take too much time (Milliput might not dry quickly enough). Then I thought a single engine kit may be better. I found a Faller 1/100 Fieseler Storch kit in my stash. That will fit nicely on my 1/100 - 1/96 shelf already populated by my Avro Manchester and a 'DC3 ' converted to a Wellington as a film prop (as seen at this year's SMW) The kit I have was the first release in 1956 and the decals are shot. So will be depicting it as an aircraft captured by the British Seen here on the bottom of the decal sheet options is the aircraft. RLM sandy brown on top with light blue squiggles. The best bit is the roughly painted fuselage roundels - no doubt similar on the wings. Will be hilarious hand painting that on the tiny wings after one too many ginger wines 🙂
  21. I made this model twenty five years ago when I lived in Canada. I still have it. Not a bad kit if you ignore the front and rear turrets like I did. I think I need to fix the radio aerial 🙂
  22. My interest in this subject was piqued by reading Scale Aircraft Modelling 01/08/78 which mentions 206 Squadron on Benbecula. I cycled there this year. The SAM profile shows 206 SqnFA702 with just an aerial out of the nose. However an IWM image seen above shows 206s FK190 with full stickleback ASV aerials. Notably unlike the SAM profile you cannot see a darker topside (Extra Dark Sea Grey/Slate Grey). This could be because of the angle of the photo not showing the thin strip of top colour on fuselage and wings How far has this modelling project progressed. Might be an opportunity to get it off the shelf 😊
  23. Cheers Jeroen, thanks for the clarity. Blitzbuilds are such fun 🙂
  24. I have done one or two Blitzbuilds in the past but have forgotten the rules. Have searched on BM but can’t find them. Please remind me 😊
