  1. Even later than later... when at Wildenrath it was said 60 Sqn had been banished from the UK as the aircrew had flown from an airfield leaving the groundcrew to be captured by the Japs back in WWII. However as they are now at Shawbury whatever it is has obviously been forgotten.
  2. I believe the time it takes to get an A-10 from Point A - Point B, allied to the MANPAD threat on the modern battlefield means its days were done a good few years ago.
  3. Lovely Model there, really good work. I did this in the late 80's, it was a good build . As for Fast Freddie, as I noted on the build of his NSR500 on here earlier this week, personally think he was the best racer in the blue riband class of the last fifty years, had it not been for the tendonitas in his wrists, Lawson, Rainey and Doohan would not have won the anywhere near the number of titles they did. His smooth riding style was simply unmatched by any of the other top boys around at the time. I was at Silverstone in 85 and you are right, he was frankly in a race with himself, nobody else was near him. But for me, I best remember him for the 84 Nurburgring German GP, he had practiced on the 84 NSR500 on the Friday, wasn't happy with it, the 83 NS500 was brought from Amsterdam overnight, he got practice times in on both on the Saturday and on the Sunday he blew away the field riding the year old NS500 triple. What a rider.
  4. I suspect that 1/48 is where focus is nowadays. But I will stick with my traditional (now we have a Bucc....) Jag in 1/72 mainly because there is not a decent one out there.
  5. Nice, made this many many years ago. Will be good to see another built. Fast Freddie, my vote for the best racer in the GP Blue Riband class of the last 50 years (as long as I have been watching!!). Without his wrist problems, I think the GP careers and titles of Eddie Lawson, Rainey and Doohan would have been very different.
  6. Thats some really nice 3D printing...if you happen to reprint some extras and feel the need to move them on.....let me know. Really good point on the rivets on a Sea King, that was one thing that struck me when walking around the hanger at Chivenor, the rivets are very obvious even from a good few feet away.
  7. Probably just stickers and some aftermarket missiles.........
  8. To be honest don't know who he is and never watched Friends. But I heard it on the radio earlier he had said he could stand up and talk to thousands of people but could not be in a room on his own. Poor guy, some demons floating around him. You just never know how people really are.
  9. Nice photo's. That KC-10 is looking its age though.
  10. Nice work, that looks a really good kit.
  11. Obviously no bombheads involved, would have been far too complicated. Linies would have just used the mops of hair the scruffy buggers usually had.
  12. I think the NASA AV-8A springs to mind as a jet in Civvy colours. The HS Company Harrier T2 G-VTOL also came in a few colours I think. Other than that not a lot comes to mind for me.
  13. I am guessing Airfix have spent the big money on getting Whitley moulds sorted so hopefully the sales have recouped sunk money. The model was well moulded, and well moulded models will always sell. I am sure the mould will not deteriorate if not being used, I wonder if Airfix will re-release this every three or fours years and make a good lump of cash in one hit rather than constantly flooding the market. leaving any spare kits to be sold off at discount. And by the way, I have one in my stash, at current rate of production this is pencilled in for the year 2143.
  14. That is a cracking build and result. I am guessing that is going to be some size. Well done
  15. Some beautiful photo's there. I will be honest and say that mixed colour & B&W are not for me personally, but does not take away that it is a great body work. Well done.
  16. Play everything straight by the book. Note everything. I had fun and games with neighbours for years, and eventually they just trip themselves up to the wrong people.
  17. Nice work, but oddly enough really I like the way you have painted the tyres and wheel hubs most of all. Strange world.
  18. Model coming on okay chap, sometimes these things are just of their time. More and more I am thinking about going back to these 'simpler' models basically so I can enjoy modelling rather more than I do now.
  19. There were only @600 DC-3 made, the rest were C-47's, a few thousand of them I am guessing.
  20. If it was Germany as I knew it Beer & Asbach was stashed away somewhere......
  21. Firstly I think I will break my STGB virginity with this. Secondly can I WHIF up on my choice?
  22. You are a brave chap, I have just seen a build of this on another site and....'gulp'........really does not cover it.
  23. Just gone back to start the Flashman series again with, well, Flashman. Must be the fifth or sixth time I have read it but the series is cracking, besides, it is on Kindle this time so obviously it will be different. For the guys talking about Cuban Missile crisis, 'One minute to midnight' by Micheal Dobbs is a good read (I was thinking about the Hastings book prior to buying this but I am not his biggest fan).
