Hi Ant,
I tried getting that decal set (72-002) from the ModelArt guys at Telford, but their back catalogue doesn't go back that far. Now I have remembered the sheet number I'll go and place an add in the wants.
That is an interesting note about the colour. Thanks for the thought, I will check up on that.

That tail, that broad arrow - classic Lightning

Looking forward to this one too!
(Note to self - why are these great aircraft missing from my stash? Damn, I'll have to buy some more kits)

Oh My! That looks sweet.
Just the curviest aircraft ever. Looking forward to this one.

Not brave just

Anyway, through the medium of fast drying acrylics and tamiya tape, here are simple the seats of an NF.11. It doesn't look like ejection seats in the TT.20 photos I have so I get to use the kits seats
(not that you can see much through the canopy anyway.)
I just for a glimpse of the magnitude of the seam filling to come, here is most of the bits taped together. The control column fouls the coming, and the rear instrument panel fouls the cockpit! But apart from that, it's not a bad rendition of a Meteor.

I am going to have a problem with decals though. Need to source some numbers/letters or find out what the font is. At least, from the photos, the black and yellow underside banding looks different from a/c to a/c, giving me a bit of leeway.

WoW! Cockpit done already!
That coloured PE is neat stuff. You'll just have to have the canopy open to show it off.

Hi Folks,
Here is the first photo. Original Matchbox boxing (had to rip off the selophane to get at it!).
I got the Aeroclub winch at Telford last year, so providing my spare decals are up to the job it will be a Royal Navy TT.20 target tug.

Using the bit of wood in the middle of a nail file, I am finally getting the hang of this re-scribing lark. And the pounce wheel is leaving it's mark, though I still need practice at being accurate with that.

Looking at the rest of the kit - I need a bigger tube of filler

Well, I would have said 'dirth' was English (I know what I think it means) so I rushed to the dictionary to impress you all with my education.... only it doesn't appear in my Collins English Dictionary

I went down to my local chemist (taking my teenage daughter as proof of my upstanding character) and asked for some syringes. They come in boxes of 200 (at about 10p each) and mean I can measure out the paint and thinners mix accurately for consistent results.

Great finish on the model (and the photos). What was the scale?
and that is a great place for taking the photos. Best way to photo them I think, outdoors with a suitable background.
Terrific stuff.

EaH Gods no! Not another ACE machine retired. I am getting old!
Having made a few kits of them in the past I don't have a single one at the moment, made or in the stash. Hopeless.
And that is a truly stunning photo Steve.

What everybody else said!!!
I love those, oh so subtle, dirt effects on the spats.
Such a nice, even finish that looks great in the photos.
Sweet.

With a little arm twisting and some available time I might step in with...............you guessed it.............another 1/48 Airfix Lightning.
May try a BMF finish possibly foiled.
Doc
It has to be done some time. I thought I might try foiling my Meteor. Go on Doc you know you want too.

Count me in with 1/72 Matchbox Meteor in BMF as a target tug up from Malta.
Then, if that goes well I might pitch in with a 1/72 Frog Harrier Gr. 1. (Bits in a sealed bag but decals are not kit decals
)cheers

Saw one of those this month!! In the correct scheme aswell. It look awesome in the overhead.

Whilst the model looks good... that 'wet' effect on the apron is brilliant!

Now there is a man with a plan! Looking forward to seeing this one progress.

You nutter Mike!

Liked your shots though. Bet you couldn't do that Buff 'glint' shot EVER again!
The Canberra started early the day I was there, so watched its display from by the Greek Phantom. Who needs F-16s when you see the turning circle that Canberra had. Awesome display, at the END of a very long service life.
Andy.
WoW!
Jen
Yes that V-22 takes some getting used to. It looks like nothing else, from every angle.

Hi Karl,
What Mike and Chris said. My airbrushing improved when I got my compressor (Iwata Sprint Jet) simply because I wasn't rushing, in order to conserve air, and I am sure the brush is cleaner because I now have the air to put for thinners through it.
I think airbrush and compressor should go hand in hand. Expensive yes, but the consistant results are worht it.

I love that pit Phil. I wish I was that neat.
I vote for CFS. A splash of colour always looks good in the display case.

Another Vulcan kit gets finished!! Neat fix for the exhausts. Simple but effective.
Now for somewhere to put it?!

Thats going to look pretty Cool
looking forward to more progress
I hope so. There is a chap at work (Mark Hazzard) who makes fantastic armour models and I am going to have to show him this
. Plus the guy in the photo is pretty keen to see the finished article aswell!I think that is why I have stalled. The next few bits are the make or break bits. I need to be 'in the mood' to get them right.

Nice pics! I don't know why but I think the Orion is a cool aeroplane. Nice to see the Lynx in action too. Particularly liked the one with the fire truck.

Phew! Luckily I have found a Matchbox Meteor and Aeroclub winch in the stash. So a 1960s BMF target tug out of Malta will get built - instead of a Valiant.

Something else to do besides all the things I should be doing

Holding a model for airbrushing

I use those bamboo skewers you can get at the supermarket.
As Mike says, stuff it in a convenient hole, and spray. I have an old dried milk tin full of rice that I poke the skewer through the lid of while the model dries.
Alternatively, hold it in a gloved hand if there is enough space on the kit to do it.
The trick is, it has to be comfortable for you, and allow you to move the model around and put out to dry, using only one hand.
Practice on an old model to figure out what works for you.
