That's not nice - all those great models and only one vote!
Now where is that mass PM button to drum up some voters....?

Nice one Phil!

That canopy looks fixable to me. I had a similar problem on an F-16 canopy, but all you need is some elbow grease and some fine grades of wet'n'dry. I finished with an old electric toothbrush and some Brasso, a coat of Klear and you wouldn't know I had had a problem.
Same goes for the wing joints - Squadron green putty and don't be afraid to get stuck in with nail files and wet'n'dry. It will look bad to start with, but you do have control (with practice) and the results can transform a model from a kit to a good rendition of the real thing.
But your are starting with the right idea - practise makes perfect.

Lovely Lightning and Buc Gents!
As Tim asked nicely, but against my better judgement, here is a close up of my Meteor canopy.
Having decided the BMF was too shiny, I broke out the Maskol and then re-sprayed the whole top deck with Alclad. Removing the Maskol cuased the Alclad to flake off in a few wrong places, but I managed to touch up some of the worst with Tamiya flat aluminium. So it's OK, but don't get too close - pretty much the story with most of my models!

Following on from the excellent efforts above, here is my humble effort.
Another Meteor! Does that make them the most completed a/c type for this GB?
Matchbox kit with Aeroclub winch to turn it into a TT20. Scratch built mud guard supports, under fuselage winch apparatus, winch support and aerials on top of fuselage. Painted with Humbrol black and yellow and Alclad aluminium. Kit roundals and walkway decals used, all else printed (several times!) at home.

I just go down to the local pharmacy, put on my most innocent expression and ask for some syringes. I get a box of 100 5ml syringes for about 10p or 20p each. Last me YEARS.

If the tank is pulling the a/c out then the ambulance and fire truck are long gone ... maybe.
Also if it has belly landed JUST off the runway, would there really be a gun emplacement that close?
A truck, van, car sounds good. Or there is always a bicycle around on airfields - flightpath do a little PE one.
I managed to pick up some small Morgan sports cars at Goodwood last year for use in a 1/72 1930s/40s diorama. Imagine - the CO could be there, observing the scene, before having 'words' with the aircrew.
That's my

Impressive in any scale.....but in 1/72!
I must try some of these newer kits of US types. Not that it will improve my finish, but just so as I don't have to do so much filling!

Well done Tim! (bit late I know, but I missed your original completion post)
And three happy 1:1 modellers to-boot.

(I am stalled at the moment with homemade decals that ran after the 2nd !?! application of liquid decal film - go figure)

That certainly looks the part! Those kits look like a great intro to the hobby.
Keep up the good work Andrew.

What's with the Andover? I thought we got rid of them years ago?
I was confused too. That's why it is not in the middle of the frame

It is a great place for close and unusual shots. It was just a shame it was SOOOO windy this year.
Still it was a lovely day for the show.
Now looking Fairford forward to next weekend.

A cloudy and very windy day. quiet compared with previous years but some quality stuff came in.
Most photos are on 'real' film, but here is a taste from my little digital camera.

Nice displays from the last two.

At the eastern end of the airfield, you can get access to a field just south of the threshold.
As you come down the A303, travelling west, go up the hill from the Sparkford roundabout and then on the way down, by a disused petrol station at the bottom of the hill, turn off left into the airstation. Take a left just before you get to the boundary fence. Then a few hundered yards down the road turn right at the multi-sided house.
Then find somewhere safe to park the car (you'll see loads of others on the side of the narrow lane) and then through the gate on the corner and join the rest of us.
Have a good trip.

You tease!

A whole bunch of us from work are planning on getting to the field for about 09:00hrs for the arrivals day.
So far I have seen the junglies working up, and yesterday there was a 6 ship of 4 harriers and 2 Falcon bizjets flying around in a very tight formation.
Hoping for an An-124. I also hear that the Reds are at Bristol at the moment, so they might come in tomorrow.
Wrap up warm if your are coming, 25mph winds forecast!

Don't they look the biz?! Nicely done Tim. You'll have some very happy customer with that little lot.

Ace photos. Shame about the weather you are having over here. Lets hope it clears up for Yeovilton and Fairford.

Fingers crossed for no bleeds! I got a sore back just thinking about doing all that fiddley masking.

Interesting comments guys.
Hatchet - I think you hit the nail on the head there...
Chris - Telling photos there. BMF and even kitchen foil are just way shinnier than any paint.
Tim - Thank you very much, your a saviour. PM on the way.
I have a cunning plan. Recover in BMF and spray ALCLAD, 'cos as you say the frame and aircraft should be a much closer match. And that is going to be so less frought an exercise with a spare canopy to fall back on.
Lesson learnt, I reckon.

Well I have managed a descent finish on the aircraft - ALCALD Aluminium and I was rather pleased with the BMFoil (Matt Aluminium) on the canopy... but when I put the two together I wasn't so sure it worked.
Sorry for the slightly out of focus shot, but what do you guys think? Too much contrast or what?

Definitely canon stubs, with the inner ones faired over - what I am not sure about is the cartridge shutes. I have left mine on, but maybe that wasn't a good idea.
The canon stubs can be clearly seen in the above mentioned photo. Thanks for the thought though.
