  1. Love the garage! I built me one of them last year here and it looks the part. I shall be following this with interest. I expect to be back in the States later this year and thought I might pick up another one. So many to choose from...Bud, Miller, Jack Daniels... spot the theme yet? cheers Grant
  2. Gee - thanks Skii... I have had to order more CF decal 'cos my fat fingers cocked up the first lot, and now you show me this! It is impressive stuff and shows what can be done. So back to the work bench with re-newed determination. cheers Grant
  3. Good grief! Do the ASI readings make any sense when it is on the move?!? I can think of a few people who need to see that photo. cheers Grant
  4. Ain't that the truth! I am really struggling with a Tamiya white spray can on my FW24 at the moment. It really didn't take to the undercoat but sits nicely on Halfords appliance white (go figure). The much whiter glossier finish of the tamiya paint is the reason for persevering with it. Whos idea was a white car anyway? cheers Grant
  5. Nick, many thanks for an excellent GB, and congratulations to all those who finished. As ever, some very good builds and a real difficult choice for the voting. A well deserved set of winning models, definitely the pick of the bunch! Cheers Grant
  6. Hi Folks, Over at Yeovilton today and looked across to see sparks leaping from the ski jump as working men were cutting it up. Guess the Harriers will be back soon then! Cheers Grant
  7. That is quite a scary thought. It must be 30 something years since I flew in it. It always amazes me how old a lot of the current in service a/c are. Typhoon - a 1/72 model in flight would look superb. A B&Q filler base would weigh a ton though!! cheers Grant
  8. OoooH! A vote. Thank you for saving my blushes! Grant von StillGotALongWayToGoToMatchChris
  9. I could get a complex you know!?! Previous GB voting Red is best Red is best Red is best Grant
  10. Humbrol ClearFix for me. So far so good! Grant
  11. Thanks Karl. I'll try and do it justice! Grant
  12. Lovely job Pat! Nice to see them on 'other' schemes. cheers Grant
  13. Count me in with this little beauty (unless the mods think it is too far on). Started this last year, but stalled very soon after (BM's first GB got in the way) and since then I haven't touched it. The previous build thread is here and this weekend I have dusted it of and rubbed down all the filled sink marks. cheers Grant
  14. Thanks Folks. Glad you like it. RichardE - I didn't fancy dealing with the white metal undercarriage and digging holes in the resin for them, so I went for the in-flight theme instead. Mike - "Sea Straw" very good! DamienB - Yes I thought about a periscope or small sub, or even just a dark patch in the water, but as a first foray into water I thought I would keep it simple. And of course what I should have said above was big thank you to all those who took part in the 'Grey colour' discussions on ARC and BritModeller. I used the WhiteEnsign Light Aircraft Grey in the end and it looks fine. cheers Grant
  15. Nope! Not the Airfix kit, but a 1/144 resin kit I picked up on Ebay nearly 5 years ago. Done up in the colour scheme of the mid 70s as XV242, an aircraft I got a trip in while in the Air Scouts down at RAF St. Mawgan in Cornwall. No aerials as, at this scale they can get a bit chunky, and I don't really notice them on bigger aircraft as I watch them fly past. I have kept it simple to show off the lines of this pretty, pretty aircraft. The search light is a cut down LED, replacing the solid resin lump. Thanks to Dave (Merlin101) for some spare decals that meant I could do the underwing reg. The North Atlantic is B&Qs ready mix filler painted in Humbrol 145 and dry brushed with white. As ever, it looks the part from a distance, but my detail finishing still leaves a lot to be desired. I hope you like it. All comments welcome. Cheers Grant
  16. WOW Chris, that is stunning! Grant
  17. It does look a good kit. If ever he was to do the G-LYNX World Speed Record bits again I would have one in an instant! Good luck with the build and keep us posted. cheers Grant
  18. Coming along nicely! Colour schemes? TV02 in primer or delivery green with the thunderbird style '2' on the side? Interesting to here of the RAF logo on the 70Sqdn a/c. It is not present on the aircraft at the factory. Having spent all that time making the Danish nose I suppose I ought to get on a make a Danish SAR and a Mk3a - this year? So many models and so little energy after a hard day at the computer! cheers Grant
  19. Looking Good Nick. I like the engine, a very good rust effect there. cheers Grant
  20. Those mirrors really do look good Dave. It looks even better in the flesh aswell folks. cheers Grant PS. working on the resin bits Dave - pesky air bubbles!
  21. I have been using hair for the last couple of years, with no signs of sagging. Haven't convinced the original owner to dye her hair silver yet though! I recently used some Lycra from White Ensign (on my Fokker) but I think it looks a bit too white. With more on an aircraft I think I would have to tone it down a bit. Scale wise, I reckon the hair is bit thick for 1/72 (but way better than any fishing line) and a bit thin for 1/48. The Lycra lokks about right for 1/72 though. cheers Grant
  22. Airfix Fokker Dr.1 in 1/72nd Excellent builds so far peeps! All that stunning rigging. Thankfully there was only a small amount on mine. The build thread is here. Trying out my new Canon EOS 400D on a model for the first time. It makes the model look good, I think I'll keep it cheers Grant
