  1. I can't believe you are doing this as a speed build! I took one look in my box and thought Oh Dear. Yours is looking great so far, and in such a short time. I think mine might end up on a roundabout diorama! cheers Grant
  2. Bit more progress! Blue painting is done and I am well into the decalling. Here is the tub and the wheels. Alclad dark aluminium for the wheels. Lots more CF decal for the rear of the tub - some of which will get seen. And because the top cover comes off, loads more CF decal on this too!! The end is in site. cheers Grant
  3. I couldn't possibly say anymore, 'cos I'd have to shoot you and that wouldn't be nice! Grant von KeepingTrapShutNow
  4. "Go easy"!!??!! I wish I could build that 'badly'. A nice pair you have got there Pappy. Grant
  5. Why does it always rain when they put on these doos. I helped out when they had a Tiger Moth day and it threw it down then. 806 came into work today. Would you believe it was so that some guys could look at the tail rotor pitch control rods. Apparently the technology is being revisited! cheers Grant
  6. Fantastic - and in such a short time! Grant
  7. Stunning jobs with those decals. That bike looks gorgeous. Shame about the screen, but worth sharing. It might save some ones bacon one day. cheers Grant
  8. Thanks for the suggestions and offers guys. I must admit I hadn't looked that closely at the plastic yet to figure out how far out it is. But then again I am normally one of those 'close enough will do' modellers. Actually that is an interesting point. Perhaps I will just build the Airfix one OOB, as that USN version I remember building as a kid, and get a splash of colour on the shelf. Then spend money on adding lots of goodies to a better base model. Um. Interesting discussing this with you guys. Thanks for the feed back Grant
  9. Yes, yes, I get the message But it is the only Phantom in my stash AND it will end up in that gorgeous 2-tone green and tan camo. It's probably for the best. I'll just tart up the top of the seats and shut the canopies. You guys may have just saved me from myself - Thank you! cheers Grant
  10. Fair point! But no, it was a serious thought. What concerned me was the fit of the canopy frames and the radar. Although the latter could, possibly be made to fit, the canopy frames would be very difficult by the sounds of it. Thanks for the input Oliver. cheers Grant
  11. Hi Folks, Making life difficult for myself again! I have an Airfix Phantom (from the '90 years of fighters' boxing) and have some 2Bobs decals to tart it up. I am also thinking about using the Verlinden Productions (for Hasegawa) detail set (#0553) that will allow me to do the nose radar exposed. Anybody have any experience of the VP set and/or any idea about a comparison of the kit cokpits? It would be a shame if the PE canopy frames didn't fit, but it would be nice to have a better idea of what might fit, if anything. TIA Grant
  12. Having recently 'been there' with the CF decals, I bow to a master. Fantastic job there, and the Tamiya smoke is a cool tip. cheers Grant
  13. This weeks effort. I decided to do the whole front suspension in CF decal. I think that meant I cut out about 24 bits of decal to cover all the arms. Worth it though. Now to tackle those silver strip decals, and hopefully find out all the painting lines up. cheers Grant
  14. O.M.G. I thought there were lots of bits on my kit, but you have got all the wiring and hose clips aswell. Awesome stuff Doc. Grant

    Viggen FGR1

Wow, that so looks the part! Grant
  16. I shyed away from re-scribing mine, but yours looks good in shiny camo. cheers Grant
  17. Nah. Just bonkers Sean. Finally the engine is finished. I had worried that the integrally molded spring-damper units would look really naff. But when I painted them up I thought they looked fine. So here is the fully dressed engine. Now to get back to the bodywork, which now has blue paint on it and is waiting a mega decaling session. cheers Grant
  18. Ah! The Mk7. The prettiest Lynx (even with the IRCM cans). Nice rendition Snipe. cheers Grant
  19. An interesting set of photos there, thanks for posting. The interest is in the interim nature of the airframe. Lumps and bumps missing and not in the final colour, but with RAF markings. Can you believe how patchy that paint work looks?!? cheers Grant
  20. Stunning mud! It is a brave man who does that to a model. Nice one Grant
  21. That so looks the part Dave. Nice job on the blades. cheers Grant
  22. Love those spots! Looking forward to seeing this one cross the finishing line. Grant
  23. An interesting range. Thank you (I think) for introducing me to them. I am going to have to get me one of those SeaView kits, and maybe the Lost in Space pod and ..... No. No be strong! Grant von Must-spend-more-money-NOT
  24. OoH! Fast jet porn That flash shot down the jet pipe is very 'time tunnel' Excellent resource (right click) thanks Grant
