  1. Aye, a NEAT photo indeed. Interestingly - 'old guard' 2 crew - 'modern' single crew (bit of overlap I know, but definitely a trend) Grant
  2. You Sir, are going to cost me a *&^%@# fortune! Thanks for the link to cultvman the other day. Unfortunately for my wallet they are having a SALE! And now fantastic plastic aswell. Oh dear. So many ace subjects, and such a slow builder. Still it all looks stunning in my head. cheers Grant
  3. Love those atmospheric shots with the low Sun. Somebody, please clean that Sea King! cheers Grant
  4. Another stunning brushed paint job Dave. Those cable aerials look the biz too. cheers Grant

Nice save! Looking forward to seeing this one in the flesh. Grant

That is looking soooo good! Grant
  8. Why, thank you Mish. Fuselage has gone together nicely, just a little bit of clean up required. The wing-nacelle join, however, is a whole other story! Still nothing a bit of green putty won't cure. So out with the wet'n'dry over the weekend. I find it quite therapeutic rubbing down filler to reveal a nice smooth seamless join (well that is the aim anyway), and the Sun is supposed to be out this weekend. Life is Good! cheers Grant
  9. With time enough to go still I thought we ought to have one of these on the table. Looking to do this one 'in-flight', as there is a stand in the box, so into the spares box for Messrs Scott and Campbell-Black. You wouldn't believe the size range in 1/72 pilot figures! These two are a bit of a tight fit but they were the best I had with leather headgear. The Whirlybirds cockpit set went in nicely, though come the final fit, I found I had to do a bit of shaving. The cockpit decals went on fine, so no snags yet... Fuselage and nacelles glueing as I type. cheers Grant
  10. That must be fun - spraying in between the wings! Grant
  11. Hmm, Daimler Mk1 armoured car, RE8, F-4... This years builds are looking a bit thin on the ground. This sounds like a good idea! Grant

Special Hobby 1/48th Gloster/Whittle E.28/39, covered in kitchen foil. I broke a light while doing the photo shoot, so lighting wasn't great. Hence the 'period' look. Hope you like it. cheers Grant
  13. Job done! Shame about the U/C. It is molded 'deployed in flight' and despite cutting significant lengths off it the model is still standing a bit too high. Trouble is the error is mainly in the bottom half of the U/C, where it is difficult to maintain the strength (for me anyway) after cutting - remember there is 15g of lead in the nose! Still, it don't look too bad, and it is another test aircraft in the display case. More piccies in the gallery. (B&W 'cos I dropped and broke a light, so the lighting wasn't great, plus the 'period' look is nice!) cheers Grant
  14. Having just finished my E.28/39, there appears to be time to squeeze another one out (possibly!). As there doesn't seem to be one listed, how about one of these? cheers Grant
  15. Wow, there's some monies worth in that cabinet! TB1 definitely looks better for not being weathered. A great collection, building nicely... cheers Grant
  16. Where were you Lee, when I was doing mine? That looks a really neat mod. What scale and kit is your base model? cheers Grant
  17. That's not a bad Merlin. Extra nice with the figures around, and you have made a good job of the blades. If I may, that no. 2 intake could do with blanking off with a little box inside, just so that you don't see the far side of the cowling through it. One of those annoying little things that you don't spot until it is too late! cheers Grant
  18. That is a nice clean build, it is just a pity about the kit instructions for the blades. They should be green, with a titanium leading edge. I don't know why the instructions say black, the 101 blades have never been black! That said, baring Dave's of course, that is one of the better renditions out there. cheers Grant
  19. Given one fuselage half had a wider open side than the other I was just glad to get it stuck together! From most angles the intake will look oval, even when it is round, so I will be happy to have something a bit different in the display case (and to have got the foiling bug out of my system!) Grant
  20. That is going to look impressive! If you are not going to put it on water, then how about in flight? Seaplanes just don't look as 'pretty' on land. GRant
  21. WoW! Another speed builder. Looks good in black. Grant
  22. I just did belts and the headrest. Looking through the canopy, you can barely see the belts!! - So anything else would not have been worth the effort. Glad you like the finish - though don't get too close, I will definitely be doing Alclad next time! cheers Grant
  23. Well that has just about got the foiling done. Nice tonal variations with the different orientations of the foil, but there is so much 'handling' of the model involved keeping it clean and undamaged has been a real problem. So the front half and wings have a coat of Klear to protect them, and the back end is just about ready for the same treatment. U/C, canopy, 2 decals and some paint of the control surfaces and the job will be done. cheers Grant
  24. Nicely done! That one wins the lateral thinking award. Grant
