  1. It is big isn't it? Nice job on the interior. Mine is waiting in the modelling room, but I need to plan out the lighting first. There will definitely need to be some soldering done on this kit! (and a shelf built to store it on!!!) The only model I have seen so far that has been an absolute MUST HAVE. cheers Grant
  2. Ouch! Sounds like it could have been much worse though. Sturdy stuff those intakes! Good luck with the repairs. cheers Grant
  3. Just got to the rigging stage on mine. Interesting pics showing the very dark rigging. Makes me think twice about the light thread I have got. Good factory fresh look and a nice job on the rigging, specially the overwing kingposts. Love the paint job on the crew. cheers Grant
  4. Saw that doing it's flyby at Westland. Just happened to look up and caught it flash by the window. Thought it looked a bit different - now I know why! We also had the ETPS Lynx, in and a Scout in ETPS colours popped in for a brief visit. Not a bad day at the office! cheers Grant
  5. As 'something for the weekend', that is terrific. The modification to the head position definitely adds that little bit extra. Nice one Grant
  6. This years modelling hours spent mainly on two kits, but still managed to finish my average of 5 kits this year. #1 1/144th resin kit HS Nimrod MR.1, with sea scape diorama. Build Thread Here with more piccies. #2 Tamiya Williams 1/20th FW24 with lots and lots of Carbon Fibre decal. Build Thread Here with more piccies. #3 Special Hobby 1/48th Gloster/Whittle E.28/39. Each panel lovingly covered in tin foil! Build Thread Here with more piccies. #4 Airfix 1/72nd De Haviland DH.88 Comet racer with WhirlyBird decals, cockpit and canopy. Build Thread Here with more piccies. #5 Resin kit from E2046 of Chobit Chi, with sofa. Simply painted, base done in PaintShop Pro. Build Thread Here with more piccies. Plans for 2009? Already done a 'proper job' on the Airfix lunar lander so shan't be touching those themes this year. It is the 70th anniversary of first flight of the He 178, Germany's first jet aircraft. So make that to go with the Whittle. Also 90th anniversary of Alcock and Browns trans Atlantic flight. Just got a Fujimi Phantom in the 60 years colour scheme - plan to do that with a bit of a twist... And SeaView arrived this Christmas - so out with the soldering iron, I feel a lighting rig coming on! Happy New Year Everyone! Grant

    2 for 2008

A pretty good 08 I reckon. cheers Grant
  8. WoW! All that detail (after it was put together?). Really looking the biz. cheers Grant
  9. 2 years!? A mere blink of an I in my stash through put timescales. Although getting it finished before the Airfix release sounds like a plan. Building it afterwards would just be masochistic. Grant von MustBuildFasterBetter....
  10. Definitely the pooches parts there Mike. I'll let this superb build fade into the distance before starting mine! cheers Grant
  11. I don't know... that nose looks a bit long to me. No seriously, coming together nicely. A Valiant effort indeed (top marks to David for the corniest line yet) cheers Grant
  12. Cool pics! Loved the Mustang to F-18 formation. Grant

    Cadet quote

Very witty. I must remember that one. However, not all helicopter blades do go the same way. For the modern era, French and Russian mainrotor blades rotate clockwise as you look down from above, all others rotate anti-clockwise. It hasn't alsways been so, and neither way is any better than the other, it is just the convention that has established itself. Helicopters are complex enough, without having to constantly think about which way the torque is acting, so convention is a good thing here. It is only pilots who jump from type to type who might have a problem! cheers Grant
  14. What a good idea Giorgio! Thanks for sharing. Grant
  15. That is a good Harrier in any scale, but 1/72nd, stunning. Lovely job. Grant
  16. That is absolutely gorgeous! The stand is brilliant. Grant
  17. That looks terrific - I hadn't realized they were jet powered I know the drill ... cheers Grant

Airfix 1/72nd DH.88 Comet Racer with WhirlyBird cockpit and decals. No time for better/more pictures, I am afraid, only about 38 hours before I leave for Telford!! cheers Grant
  20. Well half term kinda got in the way of any progress, and since I have been back there has been no time for updates, just plastic bashing. Having got it all together, a cut up drinking straw was required to give a little better coverage of the wheel wells. and then the canopy needed fairing in a little. and then I got it sprayed last weekend and tonight I have finished the decals (phew!) see you all at the weekend cheers Grant

  22. Good grief, I thought I was cutting it close! Gota love the mossie. cheers Grant
  23. DH88 has just had it's first coat of Klear. 2 more tonight, decals tomorrow, pack up on Thursday, drive up on Friday. What could possibly go wrong with that plan !?! I'll pack up my Williams and a 1/144 Nimrod (over a seascape) aswell, just in case you need any holes filling.
  24. That effect would look at home on the front of a Dan Dare comic. Very Arty. Grant
