That's a lot of (Lynx) bits to squeeze into a little model! and as for adding a strake in 1/144th - nothing wrong with your eyes then !

The pics don't do it justice guys. That is a really nice rendition of the model (even the stance looks good).
It looked really good in the flesh Dave. Particularly the engine blanks, though it seemed a shame to cover up the intake debris guard. Of all the problems with the kit, that attempt at modeling the mesh guard is a really neat one.
Nice to see you finally have a Black Cats version in your collection that you are happy with.

Looking Good Dave. Glad to see you are back modelling so soon. Must mean the move went well.

Count me in with the Airfix Phantom in my sig. It has been hanging around for a year now, but this weekend I got some filler on it.

I don't wish to know, thank you very much. I have finally succumbed and just bought a Belcher Lynx and the G_LYNX world speed record bits from the man himself at Telford. I reckon with 2 years to go until the 25 anniversary I might stand a chance of getting it built in time!

Depressingly quite, but Very pretty.
Nice one Mike.

Another great GB peeps!
Difficult to choose, as ever. One vote is never enough on BM.
Excellent post with all the build links Bex.

Your are determined to do a Black Cats one aren't you! That decal looks a better colour, and as you haven't moaned about it, it must have gone on OK.
See you at the Yeovilton show.

Nice model. Those markings are just great, my favourite.
Thanks for sharing.

Slow progress so far, but with only 15 days until Yeovilton, I need to step up the pace a little!
Got the fuselage joined, sort of. This is the 3rd one I have built and I have yet to get the floor to sit right as I (try) and join the fuselage. Would you look at the size of that gap!

And now the saga of the blades... Got the masks on for the yellow markings, painted red and masked that ready for the green. OK so far.

But the green went on really strangely, wouldn't settle near the masking tape.
Initially the unmasking went well, and just a few bits needed touching up, but in the end it didn't look good enough, neat enough, on all blades. I think decal will do a better, neater job - so I shall be starting again with another set of blades, Doh!

Here's hoping there is enough time.

Terrific stuff. What lovely weather you had (I am now sitting here turning green with envy).
Love those shots of the Brisfit.

That is a very Britmodellerish theme, with potential for all sorts of models.
Great idea, and respect for the inspiration.

Interesting, a whole new engine and it doesn't get a new mark number. Talk about trying to disguise an upgrade!!
It is all about the paper work, apparently.
New mark number, means complete new paper trial for the MoD and shed loads of re-reporting etc. Too costly, so it is simply a variant, not a new mark.
It is your tax £ they are thinking of!

Be fitting them to Seakings before long!!
There not THAT good

Quite a nice picture, thanks for the link Richard. Interesting credit to AW. Implying PR was on the ball.

Now there is a subject you don't see every day! There is some really interesting stuff out there.
It certainly looks the part, with those ridiculously over hung engines, and the finish you got on the wings is terrific.
Thanks for posting

What do you get when you lop the top deck of a Lynx Mk9 and stick a brace of T800s in place of the Gems?
A Mk9 alpha.
Sadly no pictures for you guys, as no cameras allowed on-site. Looks quite slick with the full IRCM fit.
I am sure someone will be outside the fence with a camera soon.

Love the cockpit Shaun. And a good job on blanking off the nozzle openings. Must think more about that on my next one.

Ah, the nose. Not the nose aswell! Oh dear.

As Merlin101 says the later kits have a lot better 'production' detail, and they make into good models in their own right. You can use the PE sets, but having made a Mk3 with a Cormorant without IMHO the only bits that really add to the model are all the various grills, and the airstair door, if you are going to have that open. The seat belts can help, but the rest of the cockpit detail is so obscured by the galzing you might aswell use the decals in the later kits.
It is all down to personal taste. If PE, and lots of internal detail you wont see when you close it up, is your bag then go for it. Otherwise, the later boxings they are pretty good models OOB.

Nice finish. The colours look quite good. It is a shame about the mods that do need making, but at least a few simple ones make the biggest difference, legs and Gbox. I have a few protoypes to build yet before I get onto the production ones.
Nice to see all these Lynx appearing as a result of the HB releases though.

Hi Paul, yes still at AW - glad to here you miss the Merlins!
Dave - It is a colourful scheme isn't it? About as colourful as I suspect my language will get trying to reproduce it!!

Good to see you back with us Grant
You've really got the insider info on this build... looks good so far!
Thanks Mike. With the interweb Nazis in full swing at work I am missing my lunchtime BM fix, and I don't always get time of an evening.
As for the 'insider' tag, it is still only me building it! I could do with finding the notes I made about what was right and wrong with the models when they came out - it is around here somewhere. But I hope the paint job will work out and it should be a colourful model.

It was sad news, and Fred will be missed. However, there are 2 other archivists at Yeovil and my former boss has been talked into joining them to lend a hand. I'll forward the request onto them and see if they can help.
