  1. Turning the wings into something acceptable took more than a little effort and time! Sanding off all the raised panels and rivet detail (lots of black plastic dust -ugh) adding in the WEM u/c bays, tidying up the ailerons and trim tabs, let alone getting the fit square to the fuselage. The WEM bits added to the engines -cowling supports, air and oil intake grills etc make a significant difference in my view. Then, scribing the panels lines to finish. Oh yes, and also adding the rounded resin wing tips from the Paragon 100 Group set, and the nav lights from the Revell sprue.
  2. Lovely build. Very neat! Is it an 'out of the box' build? Any scratch bits / additions?
  3. Airfix Mark 3 wings added to the 'new' Revell fuselage. Additional parts from the WEM exterior and interior sets - including the extensive bomb bay. RG527 - KN Q 77 Squadron 1945. Let me know what you think!! Thanks http://i1260.photobu...Sept2012018.jpg http://i1260.photobu...Sept2012016.jpg http://i1260.photobu...atthews/001.jpg http://i1260.photobu...ws/003-Copy.jpg
  4. A few more pics taken in the sunlight! http://i1260.photobucket.com/albums/ii563/...thews/005-1.jpg[/img][/img] http://i1260.photobucket.com/albums/ii563/...thews/003-1.jpg[/img][/img] http://i1260.photobucket.com/albums/ii563/...atthews/004.jpg[/img][/img]
  5. Absolutely lovely build. I have been following with deep interest as I have all the various bits to follow in your footsteps. I'll be doing a Mark6 KN S 77 Squadron. Happened to be one my dad flew in as flight engineer. He reckoned that the Mk6 could out fly a Spit in fighter affiliation! I'll be adding a squadron level modification - a .5 Browning mounted in the H2S blister. If mine turns out anywhere near as good as this, I'll be a very happy bunny!
  6. Thanks for the advice. Do agree that the gun port staining does look a bit on the heavy side -got a bit carried away with the MIG pigments and the war weary plane returning from a busy sortie situation! Normally I go for very light weathering just using Pro Modeller wash. More practice required me thinks!
  7. Outside? Sunlight? This is February in the UK!! Will try some photos outside at the weekend if the weather is ok!!
  8. Just completed this out of the box (mostly) lovely kit. Additions were Quickboost Prop and exhausts - a vast improvement in my view. Mostly Humbrol paints -acrylic and enamel applied by airbrush. Only exception was Xtraacrylix Night Black for the underside. Figures are from the Revell (ICM) set. My first 'public' post -hope it's appreciated. At the end of the day I just really enjoyed the whole build! (apart from the snapping undercarriage strut incident) Just girding my loins now to start on the Halifax!! (Mark 6 with Airfix wings or Mark 5 with Aeroclub nose? mmmm!) Thanks for looking!
  9. In my view, the best approach with 1/72 is decal strips painted in the appropiate colour. Also gives a bit of depth to the framing. Nice clean lines and no bleeding under the masks. And cheaper than a set of masks!!!
  10. Don't know if this helps, but 'The Aeroplane' April 24 1942 (describing the Mk2) says: The motors drive Rotol constant speed full feathering airscrews with Weybridge wooden blades of 13 ft diameter.
