  1. Good photos, thanks for sharing, and interesting to see the USMC example flying with external pylons too.
  2. Always the case re support isn't it it seems in the military/MoD. That's what I hear too, post procurement support and development is always where the budget and will is lacking. Purely as someone in the wider aviation industry and from what I hear, the Merlin is an extremely good platform and very capable, and just to reassure my comments weren't knocking the Merlin in anyway, I happen to like it, but come 2030, what options might be available, and whatever the future looks like it has to be the best available for the mission.
  3. Not necessarily a unique role to the Merlin, but absolutely the capability is required in that or a more modern and more capable type come 2030
  4. Superb result there, great freehand cammo and just the right amount of weathering.
  5. Fantastic model, you've captured the lovely lines and great cammo scheme on this aircraft well.
  6. Thanks, I've been lucky to fly in that airplane a few times. Your avatar looks pretty superb too!
  7. Superb build and diorama, always like the look of the 2-seater Lightning and you've captured it very well.
  8. Welcome aboard! A lovely place you live in there, I travel there a lot with my work and always enjoy walking around.
  9. Looks great! Can't for the life of me remember what forum we discussed this but I think it was you I discussed with as I had built one and posed with a Halifax. Great result anyway.
  10. Superb and very lifelike too!
  11. Past few days, Hurricane UP-W, BBM Spitfire Mk.V, various Spitfire TR9's, T-6, Catalina...……. and regular Easy/Ryanair/Whizz/FedEx etc. types.
  12. This has to be one of the finest answers I've ever seen! Fascinating and I now know something I didn't know I didn't know!
  13. Probably not as 60 Squadron are in the UK, RAF Shawbury, and part of the newly numbered 1FTS.
  14. Wow, just wow!, what a great concept and a superb result. Great skills there, looks so lifelike!
  15. Gotta love that Vietnam wrap round camouflage (I know this is far later than Vietnam but not sure what that scheme is called!) and you've made a superb model here, that freehand camouflage is vey nicely done.
  16. If my memory serves me right, from back in the day looking after Concorde Avionics, this is the upper TCAS antennae.
  17. Likewise I've been able to travel extensively to the USA and further afield for airshows and aviation fixes, I've attended some good ones at Edwards, Mirimar, Ellington, Oshkosh and other significant ones too and whilst the content can be superb, and some of the military and historic is superb to see, the airshows themselves are rather boring. The warbirds tend to fly a racetrack pattern without much change of speed or altitude, there's a lot of excessive risk taking in aerobatics with Pitts and Extra's and such, the military are similar to what we see here and great to see.
  18. And have the Balbo fly through the London TMA?! Mmmmm………..
  19. Just a word of caution, I don't think the official statement says they will remain specifically at Mildenhall, just in the UK. Although it would seem to be the obvious outcome, there have been plans to move the RC135 operations to Fairford.
  20. Popped out to Las Vegas earlier this year to catch Red Flag 1 2020. With 30? 40? I lost count, of these take off and depart down range to the exercise and also the based jets and the RAF's first appearance was quite something to see, and as you say, hear!!
  21. Quite superb and lifelike! weathering not overdone at all but perfect for the scale. Well done!
  22. Superb models there, nicely done.……… although shouldn't that be Phascination?!...……. 😉😁
  23. I've had the good fortune to fly on all of BCAL's 747 fleet and all of BA's from the 100's through to the -400's with my first flight on a BCAL 747 in 1986 and my last in a BA 747-436 in February of this year. I always liked especially in BA 747-436's to sit in J on the upper deck, 2 + 2 seating and loads of room to spread out and side storage bins too and 20 seats max, separate galley, felt like you were in your own business jet. She will be missed.
  24. Wow, that actually looks real! what a fantastic effort there! Where, out of interest, is the background on the outside photo?, I'm assuming it's a hangar?
