  1. Great job, if you put these up on an ordinary aviation forum without declaring them as models I bet a lot of people wouldn’t realise what they are.
  2. It used to have some great bargains - at one time you could pick up various iterations of the 1\48 Canberra at a fiver a pop. Sadly it’s gone now but in the swan song I got the 1/24 Typhoon for 70 notes. Most I’ve ever spent on a kit but I doubted I’d ever see it at that price again.
  3. Great work, hope it goes well. Just to rub it in, I picked mine up for 20 quid at a Hornby concession near me
  4. I have to say, you are one of the members who I always check out when they make a post because of the quality of the work and this is no exception. Excellent stuff as always.
  5. Takes me back to my childhood that does, every day was a free air show. Spot on mate.
  6. Excellent, real “Empire of the Sun” vibe to it.
  7. Probably any good record shop will have it, it’s also on YouTube; https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=BWipIji35Cg
  8. Lovely work Werner, really good job. Are you familiar with the Rob Calvert/Hawkwind concept Album “Captain Lockheed and the Starfighters”? It’s quite bizarre but is all about the introduction of the Starfighter into West German service and what a disaster it was. At one point someone with a cod German accent shouts “Does anyone want to buy a Starfighter? Then buy a piece of ground and wait.”
  9. Cool, what a great finish. It’s remarkable how satisfying chipping and hairspray can be.
  10. Looks like my wife’s been out driving again. Seriously though, great job. Looks like something from that Namibian mining town that was abandoned in the 40s, Kolmansop I think it was called.
  11. Neat. I’m guessing Frog Shackleton for the engines?
  12. Nice one, it’s good to uncover old stuff. I was going through a box of my old toys from 40 odd years ago recently and found a wing from my first ever build, a Matchbox Strikemaster. It’s painted In Airfix Brunswick Green and has a Taiwanese rounded on one side and a Canadian flag on the other. God knows what that was all about.
  13. Spot on, really good work. I have this kit in the stash and will be pleased if it turns out as nicely as this.
  14. Smashing work, I really like what you’ve done with the NMF
  15. Cool, nice clean build. I’m quite taken with the new Airfix Dak I must admit.
  16. Terrific work, looks bigger than 1\144. I remember the moomins well, they were around when I was a kid.
  17. Very nice, not a scheme you see modelled often.
  18. Spot on, really looks the biz.
  19. So, apologies in advance; although the RAF did operate the DC-4 in small numbers as VIP transport it was a short lived affair. This is my interpretation of what one might have looked like if it had lumbered on into the 60s as a general workhorse. As far as I know the DC-4 / C54 never operated in this livery so I’ve based it on various sources, particularly the DC-3 operated by Air Atlantique. I made a few modifications on the windows, mainly because I messed them up; what’s the point of a whiff if you can’t cover your mistakes and pass it off as “artistic licence”? Regarding the kit, I can’t say I’m a big fan. It felt as though it fought me the whole way, given the amount of flash on the smaller parts and the sheer over engineering and poor fit of some of the engine and undercarriage parts. I can’t help but wonder how much staying power it will have as a mould given these issues on its second release a few years after creation. Also, some of the instructions are confusing in a way that would impress even Accurate Minatures. Here it is anyway, warts and all. I’m reasonably pleased with it overall, although I’m wincing a bit at how badly I’ve faired in the nose. Never mind, it’s done now. *Edit - going to do something about that nose seam. It’s really annoying me now. Cheers, Liam
