Avia B 534 IV - Eduard 1/48
JuanjoDominguez replied to JuanjoDominguez's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
Hi mates! When started this project I thought it would be an easy one (never build an Eduard kit before)... Finally it seems any gap of any size, needs adjust, glueing, filling, sanding, etc.... Oh well... The worst part is that I erased many of the raised detail and needed to rebuild them later... At the tail, I rebuild the ribs detail a bit because I sanded too much the area and a bit to give a try at rebuilding such kind of things, after all this is my first biplane (and I hope will be the first 1/48 finished kit! ). I made new pieces for the radiator exhaust as the fit was really bad there, may be due to the scratch work inside the cockpit... Some pics, comments welcome! -

So kind, mates! Thank you both! -
Hi folks, seeing the absolute lack of advance with my P-51 project I started even a new one... I'm happy as is the first time since 2008 that I'm able to paint anything The Eduard kit is quite nice and I promised myself not to look at any picture of the real thing.... No way! I ended up looking at tons of pics and finally decided to add a few more alu tubing, new "3D" side instruments, and so on, inside this puppy.... No I only need to try to close the halves with all that inside... Here you've a few pics, hope you like'em!

P-51 Mustang III Wheel wells tribulations...
JuanjoDominguez replied to JuanjoDominguez's topic in Aircraft WWII
Thanks for asking! Will post something soon, I hope... By now, I deleted the thick pipes at the corner of the wells, which is a bit tricky to do without damaging the surounding detail, opened the rear of the wells, remove a piece of plastic to show the pipes runing under the well skin, etc, etc... But still not much to show. I'm more deleting than building... take care -
P-51 Mustang III Wheel wells tribulations...
JuanjoDominguez replied to JuanjoDominguez's topic in Aircraft WWII
ss Bruce, Thanks for pointing me out the equivalences. I admit I'm almost a newbie about WWII subjects (and completely if we talk about 1/48 scale!) so all this help is greatly apreciated. What I can see whe I look to the wells in Tamiya's B is more like an A and of course the rear well you mentioned is wrong along with the inexistence of the thick pipes that seems to run under the well. cheers -

Thank you so much! That's what I was needing.... Glad to see I still can continue the way I was going... Will try try replicate those diferences that are plain clear in the pics. Again thanks! -
Hi mates! I'm currently detailing the main wells on my P-51B and went into a great doubt.... I've just deleted the thick tubes at the corner of the wells that Tamiya wells have, but now I've found a couple of pics that lead me to be unsure.... I was using P-51Ds pics for detailing the wells in the hope that they were the same that the ones in P-51Bs. Now I see in the pic of this preserved f-6B it has the tubes in the same place Tamiya represent them!!! See what I mean: which is in this forum thread: http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.ph...19820&st=15 The P-51D wells are these ones: you can read the thread here: http://www.aeroscale.co.uk/modules.php?op=...;topic_id=90987 So is Tamiya representing the older F-6B wells in its P-51B? are, in fact, the P-51B and F-6B wells identical and there were changes in P-51D?? I've seen quite a few P-51B models out there using Vector's wells, which are P-51D's, but, are those modelers wrong? Any help will be apreciated!

Hey mate! Nice to see you here! Yes, they're time comsuming... very... even more than that one-by-one hand riveting in my MH-53 years ago... I'm currently modeling from 6:00 am to 7:00 am which is quite early to me!!! I start working at 8:00 a.m. and usually have only barely time to have a shave Hope I can finish this one... Take care.

I replied using spanish as it seems you can speak it if not please let me know. Un saludo

Obrigado Vitor! I'm afraid there would be some copyright issues as the pictures are now owned by several modeling magazines. Sorry I know you can dowload the article here http://www.modelersite.com/PDF_Fotos_03/HarrierGR3.htm. It was published too at Military in Scale, Skymodel and Hobbyworld. Best regards ps Still I've a couple I can post... -
Still I'm having not a lot of time for modeling my twins are an adventure on themselves!! of course, you can ask what you wish! But I'm afraid it's only a sharp blade on a scalpel... Regards

Everything has an start point... Don't worry, keep practicing and you'll improve... About the lessons... Oh well, I must admit I'm not a very good teacher for anything but will try to do something on that... Of course, feel free to ask any particular thing you would like to know how I do (modeling talking, of course ) Cheers. -

About the materials, in fact, nothing special... evergreen sheets and rod, stretched sprue, copper wire and such kind of things... I still have some black styrene sheet I bought some years ago in a shop at Edinbourg during a visit to that nice (veery nice) town. To handle them, well, tweezers, a pin inserted on a hobby knife... Sure the same things you are using right now... It's only a matter of practice and time... Scratch building thingies is very rewarding to me... take care -
Thanks a lot! Skii!! Another good old friend!! Glad to see you again. Take care.

Gracias!!! Joachim: Dont think so... I've lots of resin in my basement... It's only that they were not for the particular model I was building in that moment... I.E. My current 1/48 project started by buying a resin from Legend but once I opened the box I started to remember my favorite Keane's song "Better than this..." and you can see at "in progress work" how I ended up using only the seat from the set... And once you scratchbuild a cockpit are you going to buy a resin wheell well? And so on... Diego!!! Últimamente te encuentro en todas partes!!! (lo mismo dirás tú de mí jajajajja) Un placer! Lástima estar tan lejos, a ver si algún día coincidimos y nos invitamos mutuamente a unas birras!!!!
