  1. Not sure if it's the same thing, but the guy who does the Airfix artwork has posted a gorgous Shackleton AEW.2 illustration on Facebook for viewing at Telford SMW, however he has confirmed that it is not for an up and coming kit box illustration.
  2. There's still a couple of announcements to come yet, I believe? There's no rotary announced yet, so hoping we will see a Whirlwind or Wasp (I can but dream!). And maybe that Hercules.
  3. Superb link in the first post, I had no idea that SEA F-104s were so well adorned with nose art.
  4. I'm guessing like this on XJ364 at Farnborough 1955, pic from Don Claytons' Air Britain page,
  5. Jure, that first link is superb with many rare shots of early Sycamores. I have to agree with Vlamgat9, I wish this kit was in 48th as well, the Sycamore is just a touch too small in 72nd for me. I seem to be in a minority on the forum in that I tend to pick scale depending on finished size of the model, rather than have a favourite scale.
  6. Let me see, 'The said Possum amplified at parties, connecting Lego perfect'?
  7. I loved building this kit (Iranian 'Alicat' boxing) when it came out, so am watching with interest. Superb work so far! Does this one come with the brass etch bits?
  8. The Imperial War Museum Archive http://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/search?query=bristol sycamore&items_per_page=10 have some lovely pics of Sycamores. Worth scrolling down the page as there is a nice colour shot of a camo Sycamore. Couple of more close up shots of 194 Sqn machines, but this is a nice one XE310 A of 194 Sqn
  9. Thanks for that confirmation, and apologies to WV908 for suggesting otherwise. That does seem a bit of a negative not to have two parts that represent the basic shape of the aircraft without a weapon. On that alone I will have to give this initial boxing a miss. Maybe aftermarket will step up and provide doors, but then we are talking £70 ish for the model. BTW, are there any good shots showing the underside of a Blue Steel carrier but without the weapon?
  10. To do that Airfix would have to do whole new fuselage halves to encompass the nose and tail differences (plus the cabin window re-arrangement), which I wouldn't ordinarily expect them to do The Alleycat conversion has been mentioned here,
  11. 'Colonial Navy' was a well known zapping of XV590, would go well with the visiting USN F-4B '207 AA' with the 892 Sqn tail colours on Ark Royal. XT864 was another interesting one as it wore 'FLY NAVY' instead of ROYAL NAVY' titles
  12. That makes more sense, so the company is called 144th.co.uk A DH110 and Supermarine jet protos ranges would very nice. Great looking products, but way too tiny in that scale for my (lack of) talent!
  13. I think that was confirmed a while back, certainly built up shots show it with the bomb doors fitted and open, and the sprues we can see show the operating rams and open wind deflector petals.
  14. Not sure the 'international' rhetoric was necessarily about this kit? isn't there meant to be something significant revealed later today by Airfix? Also I think this will sell well worldwide, there's plenty of online references to international modellers building the Fujimi UK examples. When you consider the options for this kit, it's almost limitless. The FG.1 alone served with two RN (767 & 892) and RAF (43 & 111) sqns, the McDD development aircraft, 700P Trials and POCU and the A&AEE. There's four standard schemes and then there all those wonderful special schemes that the FG.1 in particular attracted, finishing up with Black Mike. I have seen reference to 228 OCU/64R using 1s, but can't find anything concrete at the mo. This is definitely going to be a multiples seller!
  15. HAS.3 flying in RAF Rescue scheme, am I missing something? Or have they modelled it on XT257. Welcome release though.
  16. FG.1s were also supplied brand new to the RAF, serving with 43 Sqn. These were originally obtained under the belief that HMS Eagle would still be in service. Seem to recall that there is a minor panel change on the aft port side of the fuselage of the FGR.2 as well.
  17. XV406 above was a trials machine for the EMI pod fitment, 111 Sqn didn't use the pod. Excellent, was that on the mock up seen today? Sounds like all bases will be covered!
  18. An absolute gem there bill, superb work and really captures the spirit of the early S.1s.
  19. It is odd that, not quite a quick job cutting the outboard leading edge flap, as the original is a bit more complex than that, particularly the upper surface part. Hopefully JE5TAR can speak to his friend at Airfix about it while it's still early? The Navy didn't use Matra pods as not compatible with carrier ops, using the 2" rocket pods instead. The hint of EMI recce pods above certainly suggests that an FGR.2 boxing is on the way as well. An FG.1 and FGR.2 could be kitted in the same box (two sets of tailplanes, nose gear legs, catapault hook recess fairings), but I don't thinks that's Airfixs' style? Great to see the CAD showing the full depth intakes.
  20. This will probably come across as negative, though not meant to be - I just wish that this was going to be in 48th. I too have a stash of Fujimi Brit Phantoms, to my mind they are not in desperate need of replacing, not as much as the Hasegawa 48th. Having said that it looks a phab kit, nice to see details like the separate leading edge flaps and open radome.
  21. Lovely collection of Supermarine jets there, shows the VS392 - VS525 evolution nicely.
  22. Thanks again for all the pointers, and all is taken into consideration.
  23. should state the canopy is well passed any serviceability state and has the usual crazing and so non, but has a rough & thick layer of paint applied to the inside. Just a display piece, AP states its perspex, so happy with that. I've polished down a brand new Harrier canopy before now, and have little appetite for that again for a while. Leaving it in a bag over night is a no go!
  24. That looks very nice, hopefully pave the way for more mass produced tractor kits
